About this property
Beautiful Yacht in the Virgin Islands
Welcome to our unique sailing vacations in the Virgin Islands aboard our 43 ft sailing sloop, Catherine. We can accommodate you for a few days to a week or more, sailing and exploring the Virgin Islands.
Our sloop provides for one or two couples, or a family of four and we promise to make as relaxing or adventurous as requested by you and your guests/family. Whether you want to just read and relax, swim and snorkel, or learn to sail, we will get you on your way.
Here are some things to be considered:
1. How much sailing to you want to do? We can do as much and as little sailing as you want. Again, this is your comfort level and we want to accommodate you. If you want to sail to Saint Croix from Red Hook, Saint Thomas., that is a 6 hour sail one way. If you want to just hop around the gorgeous anchorages of Saint John, we can do that at a leisurely pace...we can come up with an itinerary that works for you.
2. Dine out or Eat in? You are welcomed to dine out, (not included in cost of stay) as there are many options from a formal scene to a beach bar/food vibe, we know all the spots! If you want to invite the captain and crew, it is a nice gesture but not necessary. Drop off and pick up service is included.
3. Quiet anchorages? or Night Life? Again, this is your call and we can accommodate.
We have two cabins that will accommodate two couples comfortably. All provided with fresh sheets, linens, and pillows. For a family of four, we offer the bunk room cabin with two twin beds, and all linens and pillows made available. Depending on the length of your stay, we will refresh sheets and pillow cases mid way through your trip.
On board is one head aboard with separate shower for bathing, although you may find yourself showering on our aft deck as you take in the view of the turqoise waters and beautiful foliage. We provide bath and beach towels, shampoo bar, bath bars, and reef safe SPF sunsreen.
Above deck you will find our cockpit, which is covered with Sunbrella bimini for shade and we offer beanbags for comfort and lounging on deck. We may provide meals above deck or below, totally your preference!
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are made available with your stay with fresh caught fish (if you wish), salads, breakfast, juices, coffee/tea and beverages. We will make sure to cover any allergies or dietary restrictions you may have. Our captain loves to grill meat and seafood, and our skipper is vegan, so we can cover alot here. Dining out is also another option but not included in cost of stay.
If you love water activities we offer a 10 ft sailing tender, named Katrina for those who want to hone in on sailing skills. We invite you to try or take a lesson from our crew. She is so fun to sail in the anchorages, or sail her to shore and take a walk on the beach. We have a SUP, and can get one more on deck by request. If you need a lesson on a SUP, not a problem, and if you fall in the water, it's w a r m.....
If you have any further questions , please feel free to contact us anytime. .We will accommodate as best as we can so please let us know
All inclusive, with private captain and skipper

About the host
Hosted by Jarad Astin

Hello, we are Jarad and Christel and we are the owners of S/V Catherine, our ft sailing sloop. After losing our home to hurricane Sandy in 2012, we left land life and decided to make "lemonade out of lemons" by living our dream of sailing and seeing the world by sea.
45,000 nautical miles later, we have sailed all through Eastern USA, Caribbean chain, Bermuda, and the Mediterranean on S/v Catherine. She is sturdy, strong and has been a lovely and comfortable home for our family of 4.
About Captain Jarad: Jarad Astin is a licensed 50-ton USCG captain. While growing up in Southern New Jersey, boating has always been a staple for Jarad and his family. After a two week sailing getaway in 2006 with close friends in Barnstable, Massachusetts, he got hooked. Less than a year later, he bought a 22 ft daysailor with wife, Christel Astin and together they learned to sail on Jamaica Bay. In 2012, they lost their apartment and all possessions to Hurricane Sandy in the Rockaways and decided to take a leap: Buy a larger vessel and high tail it to the Caribbean.
About Christel: Musician by trade, sailor by means of "getting to the next gig", Christel, wife of Captain Jarad Astin has been a performer for 30 years. Although they both have always had separate musical careers in NYC and various other cities, when Jarad mentioned moving onto a sailing yacht in 2012, she jumped right in. In 2013, they formed band, Stell & Snuggs, and started touring from island to island all throughout the Caribbean and USA. When they sail north, you will more than likely find Christel at the helm, taking watches, cooking in the galley and figuring out where the next beach excursion will take place.

Why they chose this property
She is sturdy, comfortable, and loves to sail. If sailing is not at the forefront of your trip with us, we have many water sport options to lounge on, play with and explore. We can change up the anchorage and explore without ever leaving home. That's a bonus.
What makes this property unique
Complete Waterfront! We love the fact that we can change our backyard view whenever we want, and the benefits of sailing together as a crew/family/friends is one of the most invaluable experiences you could ever have in life. These experiences will last a lifetime, just as they have with us.
