Beautiful property, peaceful location, and an excellent host. The lake views were stunning, the house was immaculate, and every detail was thoughtfully handled. We especially loved the spacious screened-in porch and convenient location to accommodate our fishing and hiking goals. We’d book again without hesitation.
Anita and Pat are incredible hosts, the home is perfect and the location pristine. If you need to recharge your batteries and connect with nature it's the perfect place... lots of options and bug enough to have the whole family stay
This beautiful home and setting exceeded all of our family’s expectations which is never easy. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The location provided all sorts of activities close by as well as a quiet, beautiful lake to enjoy. We hope to return.
The cottage is immaculate, comfortable and in an idyllic setting on a clear, quiet lake. Lots of great places to explore nearby. The owners are delightful. We miss it already!
Granite cove is a peaceful waterfront property. The house is new and very clean. Our children enjoyed kayaking, swimming (even in October we had some warm days) and nearby hikes.
We had a great time at Granite Cove! Kayaking, fishing, and swimming in the pond were enjoyed by all as well as relaxing on the screen porch! Bar Harbor and Acadia are about an hour drive, but well worth it! Our multi-generation family vacation was fully accommodated at this location! Anita was easily accessible and a wonderful host! This is a prime vacation spot for a peaceful getaway!
This beautiful property was wonderful for a week with family! The house was very clean, very modern, very suitable for everything we needed, and Anita provided absolutely everything we could think of. The views, and the amenities down by the water were wonderful. We felt genuinely comfortable, safe, and very relaxed here. Thank you Anita!
We loved our stay at the lake! The house was wonderful and had everything we needed to make our stay terrific. The location was great. We wanted a location where we could make short day trips to see the sights around Bangor and Acadia NP, while still enjoying days where we could just hang out at the lake. The property was beautiful with all the wildflowers in bloom. It was a perfect vacation spot for our family. We will definitely try to stay again if we make it back out that way in the future.
From the house to the views, this VRBO is absolutely a winner. Cozy and absolutely clean. Impressed with the lake and how clear the water is. There are nice hiking trails near but with a very good cook about 4 miles away”Shiela’s Treats” makes amazing catered food that gives you more time with the family and fun. Seeing Eagles while we were on the lake was a plus as well. Acadia National Park is a must drive too. Overall an amazing trip and well worth it.
Fantastic, peaceful location and the owners living next door was an added bonus! They were very helpful. The layout was good with a bedroom for each adult couple and the bunk room by two of the bedrooms. The screened in porch was awesome! Highly recommend
This was one of the best rental properties we've ever stayed at. Home is fairly new. It's bright, clean, comfortable and in a beautiful, lakefront setting. The hosts put a lot of thought into the design and provided amenities such as firewood for the outdoor fire pit. We swam and kayaked in the crystal clear lake.
If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation in nature, this is the place for you.
An oasis from the hustle of life. The house was amazing, and beautiful. Very spacious to allow everyone to have their own space. It was a little to cold for the adults swim and kayak, but we enjoyed watching the kiddos in the pond. Would definitely recommend.
This home had so much more than we expected! The location is private, quiet and peaceful. Fully equipped kitchen plus lots of unexpected niceties such as - bug spray, clothes line to dry bathing suits and towels, flashlights, fire wood and kindling - just everything you could need. I would definitely recommend this home. I can’t wait to return!
As a family of seven adults, we were incredibly comfortable all week in this lovely lakefront cottage. We had everything we needed for a week of rest and relaxation! The lakefront is lovely complete with kayaks and an awesome floating dock! The screened in porch is where we spent most of our time reading in the swing, playing games at the very large table and hanging out together even when it rained. Beds were comfy, bathrooms were large and well stocked and the kitchen was perfect for making delicious meals! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Granite Cove!!
You couldn’t ask for more. Anita and Pat have built and furnished this home beautifully. There are kayaks aplenty to explore the pond and visit the loons who occasionally break the otherwise peaceful setting with their eerie calls and warbling.
Best of all, Anita and Pat are the perfect hosts, ever responsive to any and all needs.
The big screened in porch is perfect for meals. Grilling was easy and firewood available for the kids and their s’mores.
As my granddaughter said about Barbie, it rates a 13 out of 10.
Very pretty location. Pond is calm for canoeing and clear. House was very clean. Master bedroom was comfortable. Outdoor fire pit was great! A lot of the seating is firm and upright, (not overly comfortable). 8 of the advertised ‘sleeps 10’ beds were on the lower level with only one bath, no air conditioner and not great air flow. Bath towels stayed damp when hung overnight. Owners were very responsive when asked for a fan. But, overall the house was too small for our party of 8 adults. Looks bigger in pictures.

Dear Suzanne,
Thank you for your review. I am so sorry that you were not as comfortable at Granite Cove as you had hoped. The bunk room on the lower level with the two sets of bunk beds accounts for the sleeps 10 listing and has always been a hit with families with kids. I can understand why your party of 8 adults would have preferred a house with more than three private bedrooms.
We appreciate your review and will take your comments into consideration as we continue to work hard to make our guests' stays at Granite Cove as memorable and comfortable as possible.
Warm regards,
Anita
**Amazing Stay with Kids at a Beautiful House on Hopkins Pond**
We had an incredible stay at Anita’s house! It was great for all ages - we had two adults, a grandmother, a 7 year old and a 1 year old. The attention to detail in their home is truly impressive. Every corner of the house feels thoughtfully designed, right down to the built-in baby gate at the top of the stairs, which was perfect for keeping our 1-year-old safe. It’s clear they’ve considered all the little things to make guests feel comfortable and at ease.
The house itself is modern, stylish, and equipped with all the amenities you could need for a relaxing getaway. We didn’t even realize that we briefly lost power because they have a generator that kicked in and worked seamlessly. It didn’t impact our stay at all!
The views from the house are stunning, especially in the fall with the changing leaves. We loved taking the kayaks out on the serene pond—it’s such a peaceful and scenic location. It is close enough to visit Acadia, Bar Harbor and Bangor too! Overall, this was one of the best stays we’ve had, and we can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing escape in a beautiful setting.
Beautiful area and right on the lake. Lots of room and super clean. Just know that it’s a long way from stores or restaurants. Very quite and had a great experience. 👍🏻

About the host

My husband Pat and I purchased our beautiful land on Hopkins Pond in 1998. We fell more in love with this scenic paradise as we spent our summers kayaking, swimming, hiking and working to develop the site, readying it for construction. We became year round residents in 2005 when we moved into our dream home. Now that we are both retired and are able to more fully indulge in our passion for travel, we still agree that there is no other place on earth we'd rather live than our "Home Place" on Hopkins Pond.
Why they chose this property
We bought the Granite Cove land which is adjacent to our Home Place in 2012, and Pat has been developing it into a beautiful site for our newly built Granite Cove Cottage, completed in January 2020. Over the years we have loved sharing the pleasures of Hopkins Pond with our family and friends. Now we look forward to sharing those same pleasures with our guests at Granite Cove.
What makes this property unique
We love Maine! And we love our picturesque wooded lakeside land on Hopkins Pond with its unspoiled tranquility and natural scenic features of crystal clear water and rugged granite shoreline. Its proximity to Acadia National Park and Baxter State Park and Mount Kathadin make this property ideally situated to enjoy all the delights that Maine has to offer.
