About this property
Tawny Rest, Coastal Beach House In Rye
Perfectly positioned between ocean and bay on the Mornington Peninsula, this spacious and recently renovated early 80s Western red cedar home has kept its unique feel of a Pine Palace but with lots of modern comforts. Offering 4 Bedrooms, including a self-contained apartment with kitchenette and ensuite, 3 Bathrooms, spacious alfresco balcony, and tranquil terraced garden surrounds.
Perfect for families, golf groups, or wedding groups.
The Space:
Conveniently located to enjoy the best of Melbourne's favourite Coastal holiday spot with wineries, Hot Springs, walking trails, Sorrento shopping and world-class dining are all within a short drive. Also located between Tyrone Foreshore beach and the stunning vistas of the southern ocean's 16th beach with its famous Lizard Head rock, and popular cafes such as 16th Beach Cafe and Peninsula Pantry a short distance away.
Located on a quiet street, surrounded by established gardens and space to park 5 cars, this 3-storey home offers:
Ground floor:
The entrance hall, with the option of a large fold-out sofa bed, has access to a delightful private self-contained Queen bedroom with a small Kitchenette–sink, glassware, cutlery, kettle, toaster, and bar fridge–reverse-cycle air-conditioning, a small television, ensuite–shower, single vanity and toilet–and private entrance through sliding doors beneath the carport.
First floor:
Going upstairs–17 carpeted steps–will take you to a beautiful light filled landing where you'll find a bedroom with queen bed and ceiling fan. The landing extends into the open-plan living area with comfy reading chairs, lounge with flat-screen TV and ceiling fan, 8 seat dining table, a modern kitchen with enormous breakfast bench, gas cooktop, oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and an abundance of cutlery, crockery, glassware, pots and pans, and a coffee plunger.
The living space opens onto the balcony through large sliding doors. The balcony has been designed as an indoor/outdoor space that has the option of fully enclosing the space with slide-down side screens; the balcony is decked out with dining for 10, 2 lounge chairs, Weber BBQ and bar fridge.
Also on this level, you will find a well-equipped laundry with washing machine and access to a back patio and terraced gardens; and a separate bathroom–2 sink vanity, double shower, and toilet.
Second floor:
From the landing, through a lockable door, there is another flight of carpeted stairs leading to the spacious master bedroom with king bed, reverse-cycle air-conditioner, full ensuite with spa bath, and access to a private patio with seating for two.
This spacious holiday home has many large windows for lots of natural light, wifi access, and a few books and games to entertain the whole family.
Keep an eye on the trees…
Tawny Frogmouths, those quiet, owl-like birds with incredible camouflage, have been seen in the trees here. If you're lucky, you might spot one perched like a branch during the day, or hear their soft calls in the evening. A little local magic, right from your deck and the inspiration behind the name Tawny Rest.
Travelling as a couple or only need one bedroom?
The self-contained Little Tawny Studio, located beneath the main house, is also available to book separately for smaller stays.
No Schoolies or Party style bookings
If you book and disregard the above then we reserve the right to cancel the booking, or ask you to vacate the premises immediately, with full loss of your payment.
