Near beach, recently renovated, air-conditioned, sleeps 9, 6 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, very private family home on 2 acres, located on a quiet lane off Edgartown Bay Road, the most exclusive and desirable area of the Katama neighborhood of Edgartown.
Katama has the popular three-mile barrier beach called South Beach, with Atlantic Ocean surf on one side and a protected salt pond on the other and is especially popular with families looking for easy proximity to both South Beach and Edgartown Village.
With multiple decks and 2 living rooms. the main house has 5 bedrooms and there is a private king suite in an adjacent building. There is a handicapped ramp to the front door and accessible king bedroom and full bath on first floor. A large yard and an expansive lawn surround the home, allowing for plenty of privacy. The house is recently renovated with new paint throughout and all new furniture. The house can accommodate two families or a multi-generational family. The private king suite is a big bonus and serves perfectly as a second master or separate spot for in-laws or an au pair.
This wonderful Vineyard family compound looks out onto Norton Point, a 2.5-mile-long strip of sand dunes connecting Martha's Vineyard and the island of Chappaquiddick. It's a 3 minute bike ride to beautiful South Beach, on the south shore of the island, facing the Atlantic ocean with white sand and scenic dunes. A short 5 minute walk to Katama Bay boat landing to launch your kayak (Island Spirit has rentals) or ride to Edgartown on the bike path. You can take your four-wheel drive vehicle on the beach by buying a permit from the Trustees of Reservations. Norton Point and South Beach provide the best opportunity on the Vineyard for clamming, surfcasting, swimming, bird watching, and picnicking. Location, location, location!
Also, nearby within walking distance is the 162-acre Katama Farm Institute, an island nonprofit devoted to conservation and agriculture. Wander a flat, two mile walking trail along the south pasture, or peek into the farm stand.
Edgartown village, only 3 miles from us, can be reached via the bike path, by boat or by car. It is renowned for its whaling era architecture, amazing shopping and dining. Edgartown harbor is one of the most gorgeous in all of the world. Chartering a day sail is just a phone call away.

About the host
Hosted by Barb Emery

Hello! My name is Barb and I am the owner of our 6 bedroom, air-conditioned Katama Gem. My family has been coming to Martha's Vineyard for forty years. We started coming by yacht from New Jersey and fell in love with Edgartown Harbor, one of the most beautiful in the world! Luckily, my parents bought a house off of Edgartown Bay Road in Katama and we got off the boat! We now spend our days with the next generation of grandchildren, sailing a classic wooden dory made by my father and shopping for fresh island-grown corn and pies at Morning Glory Farm. We also play a ton of tennis, go for runs on the Katama Farm loop and spend time on nearby South Beach and Norton Point or water skiing in Katama Bay. In the evenings, we have cocktails on the upper deck or play corn hole on the lower deck and have large family dinners. Did I mention the pie from Morning Glory? When we are not soaking in all the Vineyard has to offer, we are in the Boston area raising three college-age boys. My parents and siblings are in New Jersey still and active in the house and the Vineyard community. If you have never been to the Vineyard before, I know you’ll love this amazing place! If you have, you know what I’m saying!!! We would love to help you enjoy your stay! Please reach out with any questions big or small.
