A new cottage build honoring the classic architecture of Martha's Vineyard. The property has been in the family for dozens of generations and is set on a private road in a secluded setting, yet only 10min from Vineyard Haven.

Bring the whole family to our 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home, which comfortably sleeps 9, and sits on a bluff overlooking Lambert's Cove, renowned for its calm waters and breathtaking sunsets. Two bedrooms are en suite, and two others share a spacious bathroom. All bedrooms have ceiling fans, alarm clocks, and sound machines, and bathrooms are equipped with nightlights and hair dryers.

The living room has plenty of seating for everyone and a large central coffee table is perfect for game night. Pull down the shades to create a theatre feel perfect for movie night. Gather around the eight foot kitchen island or move into the stand alone dining room. This sunroom style room with windows on all sides and a view down the slope to the bluff is a treat at all times of day - perfect for group meals, game night, or gathering after dinner.

Three different outdoor spaces are available, including open deck, screened porch with dining table, and covered porch facing the water, all with ample seating. If the afternoon wind begins to blow, enjoy the entry deck on the side of the house. The back courtyard is shaded and a peaceful place to read as well. Spend the evening playing yard games or lounging in the hammock on the large waterfront lawn.

At the end of the lawn, simply walk down the stairs to your private beach to sunbathe, or search for beach glass. Walk to Lambert's Cove beach or Split Rock (both 10min). Beach chairs, umbrella, and beach towels provided.

A gas grill is provided for cooking the fish, all the glassware you need to create a cocktail, as well as a mixology book for those wanting to try new things. Wonderful old family cabin on incredible lot!

Wonderful no frills cabin, on a very private lot with beautiful views of the water and sky and a great beach to explore! At least while we were there, we were the only ones exploring the wonderful, rocky beach! Would recommend to others and hope we get to go back sometime!

Hidden gem. The views! Even on a rainy spring weekend were memorable. The walk out to beach is one of a kind in a rental. The fireplace is perfect for a chilly day and electric heat in bedrooms. Has everything needed for a peaceful stay. Property is private with a lovely yard: ample open space and a lovely walking path. The beach is connected to Lamberts cove beach. You could have a 3 mile run if feeling ambitious. Lamberts cove has a sandy beach that has a gradual slope.Looking forward to returning.

Best rental yet

I've stayed at many rentals where the pictures overstated how nice the property was. This one was picture perfect - if anything the pictures understated it. All amenities were modern, clean, and spotless. It was cool, comfortable and gorgeous. Remote itself, but conveniently local to the key towns of Vineyard Haven, Oaks Bluff, and Edgartown with not a bad drive to Aquinnah either. It is great for kids even very little ones, like those that only crawl. It was more or less baby proof and we let her crawl around unrestricted because not only was it safe of stuff, it was spotlessly clean. Bring your own shampoo and some patience getting down the bumpy private road and you will find absolute paradise. The pictures don't do it justice. Zero disappointments. Oh and btw, Carrie was an amazing and responsive host!

Quintessential Vineyard Cottage

Tucked away in Lambert’s Cove, this was the perfect place to spend a a few days fishing, walking the beach and sitting on the porch just watching the birds and the boats. Peaceful and tranquil and perfect!

Our family traces its heritage on Martha's Vineyard back to the 1600s. Some of us still live on island, and those who don't frequent as much as they can. We rebuilt this cottage so our expanding family can enjoy it, and we rent it to people who want to create wonderful Vineyard memories. We hope you love the island as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

This is our family's property that has been passed to us. In the old days we called it 'the camp' because the seasonal workers would stay here when it was time to harvest the cranberries. In the 1970's the camp was remodeled, and water and electricity was added. This past year it was finally time to tear it down and begin again so the cottage could be more fitting for our growing family to enjoy. We offer it for renters and their growing families to enjoy this historic place, as well as the wonderful location.

What makes this property unique

Sunset Camp is on a secluded dirt road; you can't see neighbors or hear bustling cars, only the ocean. It faces west/northwest, and the sunsets on this side of the island are second to none. It's spacious enough to feel comfortable, but small enough to stay cozy. These two details, along with a nod to the nostalgic camp title of old, combine to form our name for it, 'Sunset Camp'. Though we are secluded, we are tucked away only 10min from the ferry, and 15min to the airport. It's a small island, so really everything is pretty close, but it's nice to have the choice to be away from bustling town if you choose, and to have your own beach away from busy town beach if that is your preference.
