The hosts were super-friendly. Everything about the cabin is as described in the listing. The location is perfect with easy access to the lake. Somehow we didn't get the notice about needing to bring our own linens, but the hosts provided them for us and saved the day. We strongly recommend this as an affordable but satisfying opportunity for enjoying Lake Sunapee!
House was perfect location was the best. Kitchen was well stocked. Stove was tiny &Refrigerator was small and opened the wrong way. All in all we had an awesome week. Wished they had a table on the deck to look at the water during meals. We brought our own card table and eat every meal outside.

Thank you for your feedback! We have updated the refrigerator doo4 opening and we will be upgrading the stove. It was wonderful you enjoyed the house and lake so much!
Loved our week! Great weather. Location was nice. Hosts were nice & respectful. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a nice peaceful relaxing stay at the lake.
The property is beautiful and the views are magnificent. The owners next door are helpful and prompt. The beds are horrible. It is was like sleeping on a box spring and we left 3 nights early due the beds
We had a great time paddling and swimming during a hot week in NH. Cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. The location allowed us to explore a variety of places in NH and even a quick trip to Vermont.
We had a wonderful stay at the Acorn Retreat. Enjoyed swimming and the use of available kayaks on site. So great to be on the waterfront of beautiful Lake Sunapee.
Charming cottage on Lake Sunapee! Host was very accurate in description of steep stairs and of hill down to waterfront. These presented no problem to us. We enjoyed using the 2 kayaks for early morning adventures with our teenage sons. Cottage was very clean with a generous size bathroom for the size of the cottage. Surprisingly quiet at night; very easy sleeping on comfortable firm mattresses. Would recommend this lakeside cottage to friends and family!
My husband and I really enjoyed the lake views from everywhere, lakefront, deck, living room and kitchen; peaceful but also enjoyed watching the boats, feeding the ducks, listening to the loons and going for a daily kayak trip along the shoreline. Loved it.
We both enjoyed our week at Acorn Retreat. We liked the location, a short distance from great restaurants in New London and then very close to great ice cream at Bubba's! The Sunapee Lake tour is advised to learn more about the area and the neat characteristics of the region. We traveled to Polar Caves and Boston as part of our week at Acorn Retreat. It's convenient and was just the right size for this vacation this year.
very nice cottage for the two of us. we were not pleased with the dirty windows and screens though. The rest was all good. we are retired and no problems with landscape
We have been coming here here for several summers. Just a wonderful little cottage. The lake is right in the backyard! Loons call out every night. I always enjoy my coffee on the deck overlooking the water. The owners live nearby but are very respectful of your privacy. We plan on coming again.

Overall the experience was good, the access to the water was great, the cottage was quaint, cute and the deck was great for meals, reading and just relaxing. The full bed is very small and not comfortable, the property is not private as listed as the neighbors who own property next to the cottage came and went as they pleased to use the dock and boat that the cottage does not have access to, also there was driveway work scheduled for the week we were there which should have been done when there are not renters at the property.

We are sorry that you were not 100% satisfied with your stay at Acorn Retreat. It is our desire that all of our guests have an enjoyable vacation and regret that you did not bring your concerns to our attention while you were here. July 4th weekend this year was the busiest we have ever seen; fortunately the rest of the week returned to the peace and quiet which makes Lake Sunapee so special.
We loved the views, the lake, swimming, kayaking and hiking and walking trails nearby. The house is VERY small, there are very steep narrow stairs to the bedrooms, which are tiny with slanted roofs that make it hard to walk around. The kitchen is well-equipped, but there is no light over the table. The living room furniture is not that comfortable and it is dark. The outdoor furniture is not that comfortable either. So even though it is a well equipped house, it is a little more like staying in a cabin. Still, the hosts were nice and accommodating and the the setting and beach and boats were delightful.
We had a great stay. When we arrived it was 90 plus degrees. Property manager had fans running in all the rooms for us. We had a slight issue with the back burner of the stove was not working, and one of the knobs was broken. The smoke detector in the living room went off during our stay. Property manager was quick to try to fix it, but it still went off. The property was clean and true to the description. The waterfront was amazing with the views, clean clear water, and a nice sandy beach. The downfall was not have a dock or a float to swim out too. We were there mainly to fish Lake Sunapee. There is plenty of smallmouth bass. If you are in search of largemouth bass, we did not have any luck. Overall this property is an amazing place to stay. I highly recommended taking a tour on Lake Sunapee. We did the dinner cruise at the beginning of the week and definitely worth it. Steven Tyler from Aerosmith has a beautiful home on the lake. Enjoy your stay we will definitely be back.

Nice, but some concerns
Harriet, the owner, greeted us warmly upon arrival. The cabin is cozy and clean, many would call it "quaint" and others might say it's "rustic." I feel there needs to be a bit more disclosure of certain on-site conditions that aren't revealed in the listing. While there is "waterfront," it is a very narrow swath of land squeezed in between two docks which are "off-limits." The lake bottom is sandy but the frontage is rocky. Fortunately, there are stairs to help navigate your way into the water from the land. While the impression from the photos is that the cabin is situated by the water, there is about a 50-yard sloping path down to the water. There is also a pedestrian easement that cuts across that slope, so there's lots of foot traffic between the cabin and the water by busy and boisterous (and friendly!) neighbors. All these are manageable constraints, but it would have been good to know in advance. More important is the issue of accessibility. Anyone with ANY mobility issues would be severely challenged by the stairs to the second floor bedrooms. They are tricky if not treacherous. particularly if you need to navigate them at night to access the one (downstairs) bathroom in the cabin. Between those stairs and the slope between the cabin and the lake, older folks and those with any mobility issues/limitations would do well to find other accommodations. On the bright side, I caught a chunky smallmouth bass right off the shore!
This cottage is exactly as advertised. Very we equipped and couldn’t ask for more. The lake is right there with wonderful access. A float or a noodle is all you need for a great day!
We had a great week with 3 kids! We were right on the water which had a sandy shallow area the kids could play in without being over their heads… two kayaks to use and a neighbor brought us floats to use!
Perfect escape from the city. Well equipped, attentive when an issue arose, pleasant neighbors, kayaks, hiking, and the lake, what’s not to love! It was great!
