Unfortunately we were only able to stay for one night at the cottage but we found the stay very relaxing. Cottage is easy to access but still somewhat secluded. Watching the sun come up above the mountains in the morning was spectacular.

Property was well maintained. We only stayed for 1 night arriving in the early evening. The cottage met out needs nicely full fridge, BBQ, 2 burners hot plate. No oven but we were expecting that and tailored our food choices around it. Even had a bonus visit from on of the neighboring cats in the morning.

The owners Meleana and Thomas have had this property for 26 years. The cottage was built by the family in 2017. Meleana is a high school teacher/counsellor and Thomas is a local landscaper and gardner. Thomas and Meleana love living the Kootenay Dream where much of their year is spent doing a variety of outdoor activities in the surrounding area.

Why they chose this property

Kaslo has often been coined "Little Switzerland" as it shares similarities of many Swiss villages; nestled at the base of the Selkirk Mountains, facing Kootenay lake and the Purcell Mountains also known as the BC Rockies. Guests will enjoy views of the snow capped Purcell mountains from various sitting areas of the rental.

What makes this property unique

Kaslo is internationally known for its easy to moderate access to stunning recreational activities in the Selkirk and Purcell mountains. Spring, summer and fall recreation is abundant with local access to walking, hiking and mountain bike trails in and around Kaslo. From the Cedar Cottage you will have close access to backcountry hiking terrain in the Selkirk and Purcell mountains.

The vacation rental is a 2 minute drive from Kaslo and its amenities. Kaslo has a variety of restaurants, grocery store, butcher, micro-brewery The Angry Hen and a liquor store. At the Kaslo Adventure Center you can pick up any outdoor supplies needed or rent a kayak or SUP. The North Kootenay Bike shop has mountain bikes or electric bikes for rent and can arrange for a drop at the top of Mt. Buchannon to ride the infamous Friendly Giant trail.

After a day of outside activities head for any of Kaslo's local beaches for a swim or go for a soak at the Ainsworth Hot Springs resort just 15 minute drive away.
