lake george getaway

Our stay was enjoyable. The cabin is rustic but comfortable. The view of the lake from the spacious deck is spectacular. The dock down at the lake is large and comfortably moored our 18' fishing boat. However getting from the cabin to the dock requires a long series of steps and stairs. This could be challenging for the elderly, young children or anyone who has difficulty with stairs.

House is old and rustic which we knew going in. Place needs a good cleaning inside especially with all spider webs around. Had issues with back deck door closing but owner said to just force it and it will lock, though it doesn’t seal and flies kept coming in. A little tlc would surely help this place

The location of the house was great with an amazing view of the lake and the downtown area was only a 5 minute drive. The house was a little smaller than expected but still fit 5 of us comfortably. The "sleeping loft" was not accessible although this was not mentioned anywhere in the booking. There was no seating down at the lake and the chairs on the deck were quite uncomfortable. New chairs were delivered to the house while we were there but not assembled until our last day. After two days we had to go to the store to pick up basic supplies like napkins, paper towels, toilet paper and hand soap. Not sure if that is normal for a rental like this.

After reading your feedback, the homeowner wanted to share the following: - We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the loft being off-limits. This decision was made for insurance purposes, and to ensure transparency, we'll update the listing to ensure future guests are aware of this beforehand. - There are two Adirondack chairs and a picnic table by the lake. While we ordered additional Adirondack chairs and picnic tables, unfortunately, they didn't arrive until halfway through your stay. We didn't want to disrupt your visit by assembling them while you were there, but we'll make sure they are readily available for future guests. - Regarding toiletries and other essentials, we do provide an ample supply for our guests. However, once that amount runs out, it is standard in the vacation rental industry for guests to purchase their own supplies as needed. Once again, we truly appreciate your feedback, and your comments will help us enhance the experience for all our guests.

Beyond disappointed

Absolutely no upkeep of the property or cottage. Furniture run down... appliances out dated and filthy. Bathroom was falling apart and moldy. Some deck furniture rotted and non usable. Some windows and doors were non operational. So bad we left a day early. The mice droppings was the final straw.

We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and we'd like to share the following: -The cabin is deeply cleaned at the beginning of each rental season and thoroughly cleaned between rentals. -There are traps all around the outside of the home, but sometimes a critter can get in, as this property is surrounded by woods. -Two logs need to be repaired and are scheduled to be replaced this fall. -The deck is less than five years old. -The furniture is six years old. -The appliances are in good working condition, and the dishwasher is two years old. The wallpaper in the back of the shower has some water damage, which will be repaired, but there is no mold. -We wish you would have reached out earlier with these concerns, as the guest contact would have been glad to help with any issue. -We hope that the generous measures from Evolve made up for some inconvenience. Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review!

Nice home, poor communication

Okay stay. Overall, home was nice and rustic. Lake view was great. A few observations:A few cobwebs in corners. Wi-Fi wasn’t working on arrival. Many light switches and outlets don’t work. None were labeled as to what they do. Igniter on outside grill doesn’t work.No lighter to ignite grill (had to buy one) Both propane tanks for grill were empty on our arrival. No games (or even a deck of cards) were available No beach chairs 67 steps down to the water (and 67 steps back up to the cabin)All contact numbers in the cabin were incorrect. Very difficult to get ahold of the owner. Poor communication. Lost power for 3 hours after thunderstorm rolled thruAs I said, these were observations. Some were not under control of the owner. Biggest complaint was poor communication with owner. Never answered our emails and phone numbers listed in cabin were incorrect (not updated). When I finally got the correct number, it always went to voicemail. Call then returned two days later. Nice location, close to town. Overall, we had a nice stay in Lake George.

Best vacation ever!!

This cabin was the best. Great view, everything worked, everything clean. Five of us spent the week with Americade, and we couldn't have been happier.

Nice cabin/house & great location

Upon arrival the house was clean. It was difficult to understand the house “rules/tips” we only locates a one page info on the side of the fridge 2 or 3 days into our stay. There was a question as to where the water area was for use to use. The pictures made it appear it was the Sandy beach in the photo. It was not (the neighbors were sure to let us know), it was down the stairs to the left (rear) of the house. The owner did respond to my inquiry. The sun daily shown on the deck and on dock, either place was stunning and relaxing. All 3 adults and 12 yr old had an amazing time. The heart is town is a small 3 min drive away. There was a leak in the master bedroom closet when it rained-the owner did not reply to that. It changed nothing for me as I simply moved my clothes…more of my concern was the damage it may have been doing to the cabin (I am an insurance agent). I stay in the Adirondacks 1-2 times per year….never in Lake George, this was a bit out of my price range, but I am so glad we did stay here! Please don’t read into the other reviews…this cabin was exactly what you would expect in the mountains!

This was old cabin

The cabin has a beautiful view if Lake George. The cabin needs to be cleaned. Only 2 out of 5 track lights in the kitchen worked. Every room has light bulbs that were out. Pans in the kitchen were old and worn. The wood chairs on the deck flimsy and falling apart. The front entrance to the cabin was dirty. Everything is worn and falling apart.

They’ve also been instructed to inspect the lighting, and we keep a stock of backup lightbulbs in the kitchen pantry. - We’ve recently completed a refresh of the cabin which updated the second bathroom and replaced the furniture in the dining and living areas.
