About this property

The Coach House is a retreat from the outside world.

Head for the hills…and the dancing daffodils. In the expansive grounds of a 16th-century timber-framed house, this is the perfect retreat à deux. Way up a simple track, your stone-walled, stone-tiled hideaway was built almost entirely from locally reclaimed materials. Inside it's open plan and easy. Settle on the weighty leather chesterfield, toes directed at a wood-burner stacked high with logs from the nearby woods. The kitchen, of hand-crafted oak, has masses of space, a double Belfast sink and proper wooden floorboards throughout. Exposed beams frame the bright bedroom; the shower room is a step away. It would be a treat of an evening to follow the babbling brook through the ancient orchid-dotted woodland, rest awhile at the owner's perfect little treehouse (with hammocks), then retire to your own private viewpoint with its picture-postcard views across open pastures to the Teme and Kyre valleys. Venture further to foodie Ludlow, book-lined Hay-on-Wye and the grand industrial heritage that is Ironbridge. Take to the slow life on the steam railway, stride out on the Mortimer Trail, meander through forgotten Herefordshire villages. Buzzards soar overhead, rabbits scamper in the fields that surround you.

The Coach House is a studio conversion situated in the grounds of Fishpools which is a traditional 16th century timber framed house. It is reached via quarter of a mile track and is in a very rural position. Guests will enjoy a south facing private decked area with far reaching views across fields and farmland which is perfect for watching the sun go down. Leading directly from the cottage is an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways where badgers, woodpeckers, buzzards and owls may be seen. Tenbury wells,an attractive spa and market town in the Teme Valley is 4 miles away and the fine Georgian town of Ludlowis only a 25 minute drive.

Extraordinary
Where to begin: very comfortable bed, full kitchen, romantic wood-burning fireplace, and we watched the sun set each afternoon off our back porch. The house is every bit as magical as it appears in the photos, and the setting is pure zen with a peaceful pond, lush lawns, and quaint huts. If I were a writer or a poet, this is where I imagine I would go for peace and inspiration. Would love to stay again if we return to the UK!

Way too cute
Ellie had the fire burning when we got there. It was so cosy and cute! Her house is actually quite close to the coach house but that didn’t bother us as she did very well at giving us our space. We loved it!

Sheep
The property is truly amazing, the pictures are accurate. I took my two dogs with the concern of sheep in one of the pictures, as I know I have chasers. The sheep and the cattle did not allow me to let them off, which for them is not how they are used to. Obviously at home we know where to avoid. As the sheep where in the next field and the grounds had other properties with people staying it wasn’t as secluded as I had hoped. This meant I wasn’t able to relax as much as I was anticipating - although on the veranda I did manage to find the solitude I was going for. Had my dogs not been the way they are it would have been quite close to perfect.
