Charming Get Away

This cabin is one of our favorite places to stay. It is the perfect size for two, exceptionally clean, and so cute. It has everything you need and the bed is so comfortable. The owners were next door one of the nights we stayed but they are extremely considerate of your privacy. We only saw them when we went to ask them a question. There are deer and longhorns to feed and watch. Very private but only 10-15 minutes to Harper for Mexican food or a cafe. Wish we could come more often!

Run Away Ranch

Perfect Getaway

This is the second time we have stayed here. It is so cozy and adorably decorated. The cabin has everything you need and is immaculate. We just hang around and feed the longhorns and the deer and then go to Fredericksburg to eat or shop. There is also a good Mexican restaurant in Harper (15 min away). Just perfect for a getaway for a couple.

The perfect spot to Run Away to!

This cabin was exactly what I envisioned when I was seeking a getaway for some much needed time for reflection and solitude. A peaceful sanctuary to enjoy spotting wild animals of all types, gazing at the stars, and just slowing down on the back porch. Note that the description says the hosts do not live on the property, but they occasionally visit to tend the property, and stay in the house next door to the cabin. Butch & Patty are very thoughtful and completely respectful of your privacy if they happen to be there. If you seek complete solitude, Gastehaus Schmidt could probably let you know when you are booking if the owners have plans to be onsite.

It was so peaceful and quiet. We needed that little recharge:) The longhorns were fun to watch and to feed. I personally am a little scared of cows, so the gentleness of those huge babies was a relief for me. We would absolutely go back to enjoy the quiet again.

great out of the way get away

cabin was wonderful...so much attention to details....we loved it! the deer were unbelievable!!!and the longhorns amazing....we had a great quiet stay. The drive out is quite far, but worth it once you get there....the only issue was the coffee pot didn't work very well...and you should tell people how far it is so they would take groceries with them. would love to go back again!

Run Away ranch in Harper, Texas is a peaceful cabin and place to relax. Is always kept nice and clean, and everything you could possibly need is there, just take your own personal belongings. Enjoy the deer, and the Longhorn steer. The perfect cabin for one or two.

Run Away Ranch stands by it's name

This is the place to go for all the peace that a person/couple might need. Very clean, everything you need in this cabin, all you need is your clothes and food to eat. Visting Fredericksburg isn't to far away, and a beautiful drive. The deer and longhorns are a wonderful sight to see. They enjoyed being fed. I can't express how peaceful this is. We have stayed at BnB's for 9 years around the area, and this is the most peaceful one so far.

Birthday weekend

We just love Run Away Ranch, our 2nd visit was perfect. My future husband wanted to make sure I had a perfect birthday. The cows are so fun to feed, all the stars in the sky. There is this silly donkey right outside the ranch, and his cute cow they hangout together. Just whistle at him and he comes running. Can't wait to go back we wanted to stay longer.

Fantastic Get Away

This little cabin was absolutely perfect. It was perfectly appointed and was by no means “roughing it”. Whoever decorated this little gem has such talent! The cabin is completely private - no neighbors other than the longhorns and deer that love to be fed. The town of Harper is about 15 minutes down the road where there are two restaurants - we only ate at The Longhorn Cafe (great food), but the other looked busy. WiFi worked well if you need it. If you want a peaceful get away with all the amenities, this is it!

Runaway Ranch makes you want to runaway from home!

We don't have enough words to describe what an amazing experience we had. Fully stocked kitchen. The scenery was wonderful from all kinds of deer at night, to stars as far as you could see. Waking up with long horns in the morning. The bathroom and shower were amazing! Only reason I would not recommend this place is because I don't want it to be booked when I go again. If go at night the entry is a little confusing. The main gate says Tahoe ranch so don't let it deter you and turn around thinking you got lost. Such a wonderful relaxing place! Enjoy

Best Place to see Deer

When we arrived at Gastehaus in Fredericksburg, we asked for a place to see Deer. Run Away Ranch was the selection. We drove the 33 miles out of town and after going through 2 gates to this secluded bunkhouse, we couldn't have been more pleased with what we found. The inside of this place was perfectly decorated with cowboy and cow charm as well as Christmas decorations. And it included all the conveniences of home as well of lots of treats to munch on. There was even a Christmas tree on the front porch by the two rocking chairs. We had the pleasure of watching deer while sitting on the front porch or the back porch. There were lots of deer from sunup 'til sundown. This place was perfect for a peaceful and relaxing few days. On our last day we were even treated with watching 2 very nice bucks come close to the house. We will no doubt be back to this treasure.

Check in super easy. This cabin is remote so bring anything you may want with you. Family Dollar is closest thing to a grocer for miles. But, once you are on the property, it is ideal place to unplug and relax. Very happy with our choice and will return
