About this property

Cozy Cayman Beach Front Cottage - Emerald Sea House , 2 Bdrm 2 bath

This cozy cottage is styled in classic Cayman architecture and located as far away from the glitz, crowds and night life of the 7-mile beach area as you can get on Grand Cayman. This newly listed/renovated get-a-way cottage contains 2 bedrooms (both with king size beds) and private bathrooms. Each independently air conditioned bedroom has a full view of the ocean. Imagine waking up and watching the sun rise from your bed! The great room also has two expansive views of the ocean where you can sit and watch the ocean landscape or read one the more than 50 books available (mostly spy and suspense novels). The fully equipped kitchen can handle anything you would like to dish out and includes a full size refrigerator, stove, oven and microwave. A cooler is provided for trips to the grocery store or for bringing your fresh catch home. There are outdoor surveillance cameras. A charcoal grill is also available if grilling your fresh catch is your style.

This is an ocean front property, not an ocean or marina view. Even on the hottest days, the northeasterly breeze will keep you cool. The snorkeling is excellent right in your backyard. Whenever the mood strikes, head out to your own snorkel heaven. Lots of reef fish, conch, lobster, crabs and coral formations (stag horn and brain coral) are yours to explore. On a calm day, if you go beyond the barrier reef, you could encounter just about anything.

Rental includes the use of two single seat kayaks, four lounge chairs, outdoor tables, life jackets, charcoal grill, and Wifi.

From this location, it is a short drive to Rum Point or Kaibo Yacht Club were you can enjoy a selection of very unique dining experiences (i.e., bare feet in the sand to fine dining) or charter a boat for fishing, diving or a visit to Sting Ray City. If conditions permit, experiencing bioluminescence bay by kayak is a must do. Rum Point is newly renovated and has a great bar, beach, food, dive shop, and jet ski rentals. A small convenience store is open 7 days a week about 10 min east of house. While in Grand Cayman, you have to get in the water at least once with the sting rays at Sting Ray City. Sting Ray City at sunrise is magical! If your interested in scuba diving, the best diving in Grand Cayman is with Ocean Frontiers (my opinion) just 30 minutes down the road on the East end.

Beautiful House and Great Location
Awesome mostly private beach front area. Very beautiful house, which was surprisingly well appointed with artwork and decor. Stocked with all sorts of kitchen gadgets, kayaks, lawn chairs and a charcoal grill that made the stay very easy and comfortable. Property management team was very responsive and quickly dealt with a plumbing hiccup. Instructions were very clear. Hope to come back one day again soon!

Beautiful Beach Escape
Perfect house for those who prefer solitude, but still within an easy drive to restaurants, etc. The house is very well appointed - nice linens, dishware, kitchen appliances, and even art. Fantastic views from every angle. Also a bonus that beach chairs, loungers & kayaks are provided. There were just 2 of us, but it would be perfect for 2 couples. Loved everything about it!

Greatest Vacation
Words cannot really describe how great this place is, we were able to walk out to the ocean and swim and snorkel everyday which was awesome. The home is very comfortable for 2 couples, we had everything we needed to enjoy our time there. We experienced all kinds of weather and the sound of the waves was amazing. Seen all kinds of fish, kayaked on calm smooth ocean, coffee on our patio, just amazing.

Paradise
We love your house, it is beautiful. It was perfect for two couples. The view is perfect paradise and quiet. The beds were great and the Guy Harvey artwork around the house is fantastic. The book library is also amazing. - The pots and pans are inadequate, only two "small" skillets and two "large" pots (stew/chili size). - Don't pay the cleaning service! They could not have been there after the last group left.

TROPICAL SERENITY
The Emerald Beach House is perfect for two couples to stay. Two king master suites- all with ocean view. Love the layout and decor of the house, especially with the encircling veranda. Truly a tropical retreat. The sound of the waves and the trade winds will lull you to dreamland.

Perfect get away with breathtaking views.
My wife and I needed to get away. We had been on the 7 mile side of grand caymans several times, but were looking for less touristy hustle & bustle. We found the perfect beach cottage.

Good stay after bumpy start.
The property is wonderful in terms of location on the beach, two identical bedrooms and bathrooms. roomy, comfortable and cheery. The host was very helpful and responsive. The bumpy start was that when we arrived at the appointed time, 3pm, the lockbox and door were open, and used towels by the ice chest, dirty sinks and counters revealed that the place had not been cleaned. I texted the host and tried to called the phone number for house management but could not get through. after a half hour of fretting a woman showed up who said that she was not reminded that new guests were coming but she should have known. Two other women showed up and we left for two hours while they cleaned up. They were waiting for laundry to dry when we got back. We told them they could leave and we took care of the laundry. There was one key on the hall table for the door and 3 others. The stay was good but very windy so we could not swim out to the reef without fear of being pushed onto coral. We had stayed on the North Shore in a house on the beach in the 90s and loved the snorkeling right near the beach. Now the is much sea grass to go through thru and the reef is no where near as vibrant in color or density of coral. That was very disappointing. Because of the wind we drove to the south and west side to snorkel. The best place we found was Smith Cove (Barcadere) just where the south side turns north on Seven Mile. There are picnic tables, bathroom and showers there. Cemetery Beach and Spots beach were good but you have to swim pretty far out to get to coral heads. We heard White Sands or Frontier run good small boats to Sting Ray City which is a must. We charted a boat from Island Splash Water Sports (Jason and our guide Willis) for $620 for 4 hours to SRC and two snorkeling spots and Starfish point which has few starfish. The boat trip was great and we met 3 people at Kaibo Marina who joined the four of us on the boat. The botanical Garden was worth it, the Pedro St James house was interesting but not a must. The Bioluminescent Bay with Georges Water Sport (dock B at the CaymanYatch Marina) was great becasue you got to go in the water with the bioluminescence. Kayak trip you just stick your hand and paddle into the water. Tukka restaurant was pretty good (Tuesday is 2 for 1 fish tacos (a little further south was Eagle Rays Drive Bar (where a deepwater submarine isout front) was godd. They have Lion Fish Tacos which were quite good

Beach house
The house is a definite ****. It would be a 5 if there was an outside table and chairs for eating outside. The beach/ocean area is disappointing. Trash from the ocean washes up with the seaweed. We found a rake in the garage and attempted to rake the seaweed to make a smooth transition into the ocean. However, what we raked was also filled with trash. Apparently this is a problem for the North shore.

Cozy comfy private beach home
The home is very comfortable beds are great had the air off with the doors open most of the time enjoyed the breeze we spent a lot of time hanging out in the lounge chairs down in the sand found ourselves not needing to go anywhere. Kayaks are in good shape snorkeling good spotted eagle ray lobster birds feeding really nice spot Unfortunately there is a new home being constructed next-door the guys work 10 hour days and at times it was quite noisy. This had very little affect on our experience.

Excellent house and location!
We have stayed at many vrbo's. This house was our favorite. It is comfortable and immaculate. All appliances in perfect working order. It is exactly as described on the website. We came to Cayman's to snorkel and scuba. We loved being on the ocean and yes, there is amazing snorkeling right out in front of the house. There were calm days and we saw sting rays, barracuda and tons of tropical fish. We walked the beach every morning. Our favorites: Tukka, Over the Edge Café, Kaibo, Crystal Caves, Starfish Point and Cayman Turtle Centre. We would totally stay at this house again! FYI Our flight landed at 10:15 pm The Hertz rental car office does not close and waits for customers to arrive.

Ocean Lovers Retreat
You know when you look at pictures on line of properties and think "WOW"... then you get there and it's "hmmm.." That's not what we found this home to be. It is better than the photos. The quality of the home and surrounding deck are top notch. The matching bedrooms, which was perfect for 2 couples, had spectacular views, plenty of drawer & closet space and the beds...oh my.. I hadn't slept that well in years..really. The showers have various heads in case you want a rain shower. My husband is quite the cook & the kitchen had everything he needed, including sharp knives, to make some delicious meals which we all enjoyed while looking over the turquoise water. The blender came in handy for a variety of cocktails including rum daiquiris. You're close to Rum Point which has a few places for casual outdoor dining while you are right on the beach. Kinda felt like we were in a movie. Over the Edge restaurant is a great place to be at sunset. While the sun was going down, we had a fabulous meal & then a lightning storm show in the distance. If you have paddleboards, (we brought blow up ones) this is paddleboard heaven. Everyday we launched right from the large sandy beach in front of the house with our snorkel gear. It was like like paddling over an aquarium. There is such a variety of fish & coral, we snorkeled every day. If you don't have paddleboards, 2 kayaks are provided. You can paddle out to moorings & tie off & then snorkel around without worrying about your kayak floating away. A visit to the Crystal Caves..less then 10 minutes away, is highly recommended. We thought it would be hokey, but it is spectacular. The lighting was done by a European team and we have never seen anything like it. My husband is a geologist & he kept lagging behind:). I would advise going on the earliest tour 9:00, as there were only 6 of us. We also had in home couples massages by Rommel & Daisy from Anytime Wellness. You can easily book on line. They were professional, timely, courteous, very reasonably priced, and best of all..they were great. I have been a massage therapist for 22 years and am kinda picky. We came away refreshed, relaxed and very happy. The owners Rick and Maureen were responsive and easy to work with via email. Whoever decorated this place has impeccable taste. We are definitely going back!!! Thank you Rick & Maureen for providing such a lovely place to vacation!! Say hi to Curly Joe the friendliest resident lizard!!

Beautiful Cayman Home
What was supposed to be a family vacation turned into a girls week. My two daughters, my sister and myself. Emerald Sea House is one of the best Home Away homes I have been to for vacation. The home itself is top notch for 4 people. Two king size very comfortable beds. Two very clean and up to date bathrooms. A well equipped kitchen. Plus a washer and dryer. The location was good. It was quiet. Exiting the driveway can be tricky with the landscaping and signage. Always exit from the left; this is better. It’s a short ride to Kaibo, Starfish Point and Rum Point. But everything else was a distance away. If you don’t plan to eat at the house often, plan on driving around. Again, not much to choose from in the area. We kayaked right off the beach at the house. But didn’t swim there due to the amount of sea grass and other ‘sea weed’ in the water. Otherwise, this house is well appointed and comfortable. Well cared for!

Perfect Tranquil Paradise!
Best place I've ever stayed. Immaculate! Had everything you could ever need. So many little details they thought of. It was so quiet and peaceful. We loved kayaking and snorkeling out the back door (saw octopus, shark, lobster, stingray, barracuda, lots of fish!) and spent plenty of time on that back porch drinking up that view. Would book this place again in a heartbeat! So nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of seven mile beach and really have a slow paced relaxed island getaway. Still plenty to do close by. Enjoyed a drift snorkel from Caiman Kai to Rum Point, the crystal caves, stingray city, the botanical gardens, barefoot beach, starfish point, collier's beach, Big Tree Bbq! Exactly what we were hoping for! Many thanks for sharing your paradise!

Beautiful inside and out!
We completely enjoyed our stay at Emerald Sea House. It's a lovely, peaceful place in a beautiful, quiet setting, and was perfect for the two of us. This is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath waterfront house, approximately 1,000-1,200 square feet inside, with deck around the whole house. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for cooking meals. It was wonderful to sit outside by the water and enjoy our meals. The owner, Rick, was very helpful with multiple questions leading up to our stay, and also fixed an issue for us with the way VRBO processed the reservation and billing. From the house, it's about a 7 minute drive to Rum Point. We really recommend the bioluminescent bay tour out of Rum Point after dark. It's also about a 15 minute drive to the Botanical Gardens with the Blue Iguana tour, which were beautiful and fascinating, and we also recommend. If this is your first time on Grand Cayman, it's about a 40-50 minute drive from the house to Seven Mile Beach, and possibly longer if you hit commute or airport traffic (except on Sundays, when many businesses are closed). We loved Seven Mile Beach, even with all the hotels, cruise ships, and the strip, and found public parking easiest at Governor's Beach and Cemetery Beach, toward the northern end. Seven Mile Beach is the sandy, calm beach; the rest of the shoreline of the island, including at the house, seems to be rocky iron shore and grassy with rougher water and water shoes to protect your feet would be a smart idea. It's also about a 30-35 minute drive to the nearest supermarket, the IGA Fosters in Savannah at Crossroads. The owner has thoughtfully provided ice packs and coolers for the ride back to the house after you shop.

Emerald Sea House is quite a charming place with all the amenities of home and a gorgeous setting!
We had the time of our lives staying at Emerald Sea House. We loved having our own private ocean front with snorkeling, kayaking, swimming and just relaxing! The location was perfect, as we like a more quiet setting, but the house is just a short distance from many unique beaches and numerous day outings (i.e. swim with stingrays, Crystal Caves, Botanical Gardens, Starfish Point, Rum Point, Kaibo Beach, Barefoot Beach, Blow Holes) and many others! We did dine in the West End at Ristorante Pappagallo- superb! Also equal fine dinning in the Rum Point area & East End! Reach out to “the locals” as they are happy to share Cayman advice and are super friendly. Do bring beach swim shoes as there are many spots that are uneven. We did spot a few stingrays and even a small octopus right out from the house’s beach area! Emerald Sea House is a great value for that unforgettable Cayman adventure - you won’t want to leave! The house is charmingly decorated, has a lovely wrap around porch and beach area that just takes your breath away! We felt so at home for our two week stay. We’d go back in a heartbeat. -The St.John Family-

We're a Colorado based family that loves to travel and scuba dive.

Why they chose this property

This house fit our style: low key, laid back, not a touristy area and private. Good food is just down the road at Kaibo yacht club or Rum Point.

What makes this property unique

House backs up to the ocean. If you walk out on the sand bar there's great snorkeling and swimming.
