About this property
Justawhim-Private Lakefront Log Lodge with Old World Charm steps from the water.
This stunningly beautiful and authentic log home has the old world charm and character of a by-gone era. Located on the desirable east shore of Rangeley Lake, this property is just steps away from the water. You will enjoy sunsets under the covered lakeside porch with astounding views of Bald Mountain, Doctor's Island and beyond. Step off the front porch to your own private dock and take a swim in the clear pristine waters of this special place. Swim out to the floating dock and enjoy sunbathing to the sound of the resident loons. Bring your kayaks, bicycle, canoe, fly rods, fishing poles, and hiking boots because it is all here for your relaxation and enjoyment.
Justawhim was completely renovated in 2016 including all new mattresses, bedding, linens, towels and new furnishings. While most of the original fixtures in the house were preserved, it still offers many modern amenities. The fully equiped kitchen has a modern rustic decor with the original 1911 wood cook stove that was converted to a modern 4-burner gas cook top. Two full upstairs bathrooms adorn claw foot tubs with showers and the downstairs bathroom has a standing shower. There are three large field stone fireplaces located in the living room, dining and master bedroom. The expansive and welcoming living room has a flat screen Roku TV, wi-fi, games, puzzles, comfortable sofas and chairs and offers a lake view on one side and a view of the back terraced garden on the other.
This home has all the privacy one would desire yet is still close to shops, restaurants, and endless outdoor activities. The friendly and nearby towns of Rangeley and Oquossoc offer restaurants, shops, golf, tennis, marinas, boat and slip rentals, grocery markets and much more. So what are you waiting for? Leave all your worries behind to relax in the natural beauty of Rangeley Lake and surrounding mountains.

About the host
Hosted by Lorna C.

I was so fortunate to grow up in Maine. My husband grew up in Connecticut and spent his summers in Rangeley. Our children were raised in Maine. During the summer we love sailing the Maine coast and spending time at our home in Rangeley. In winter months we enjoy the beauty of the season with a visit south for a couple of weeks for a respite from the cold!
Why they chose this property
Justawhim has been in our family since 1927. As this property passes through time and generations of those who have visited and live here, this home leaves with you with a sense of appreciation for what is grounding in this life of hustle and bustle. Our family today and those before us all share or have shared the same feeling of "getting away from it all" when we are in Rangeley. For me this translates into unforgettable life long experiences and memories with our family and cherished friends. You only need to watch one sunset over Bald Mountain sitting on the front porch of Justawhim on a beautiful summer evening to understand why this property is so special.
What makes this property unique
Old world charm and it's location make our home extremely unique and relaxing. Once you visit this magical place a sense of calm, peace and simplicity replace the stress and pressure from everyday life. There is nothing more peaceful than enjoying your morning cup of coffee on the front porch or dock overlooking the simple beauty of the lake and listening to the loons call to each other. My family and I love the outdoors. Justawhim's location is perfect for swimming, sailing, kayaking, fishing and more, right at your fingertips. Hiking is another one of our passions. Rangeley and the surrounding area has many peaks and trails for all levels of hikers. There is so much to do in the western mountains of Maine and the Rangeley Lakes Region. Sharing our home and the Maine experience with family, friends and guests brings us joy. We hope you will visit and stay in our beautiful home, explore the unsurpassed beauty of this region and create your own memorable family experiences.
