Property was just as description, with little additional touches that were very welcome (bug spray, gift syrup). Check-in and check-out couldn’t have been easier. Beautiful yard/grounds - private, remote but still close to village. I’d stay again
We will definitely be back. It was the perfect location for our trip, close to things but not a terribly far drive to other nearby towns. It was great for us and our two dogs. Very spacious and private. One of the cleanest houses I’ve ever rented and full of thoughtful touches from hand cream in the bathroom to maple syrup and bug nets bug spray and flashlights. Hoping it’s still available for renting in future trips because we’ve fallen in love with the area and our next trips will be this crew plus our new baby. I am sad I just realized I forgot to write in the guestbook! But we loved it and hope to be back in the near future.
It's a nice cabin, very secluded, a mile drive on a gravel road from town. We were out and about a lot and the drive got to be a bit of a bear. It has some of the usual cabin quirks. It's nicely appointed, but the polyester sheets gave it a definite low-budget feel.
Not kepted up. Outside lawn. Outside house tons of cobwebs never cleaned. Windows cobwebs. Saw mice and droppings on the counters, inside sink constant. Carpenter ants on counter and floors. Constantly killing them. Has a odor. Grill was filthy never clean. Grease dripping pan full. Smelt old meat nasty. Was long drive to place hard to locate. Change of name rd. More then says.oven kept shutting off. For the cost not what expected. Used paper plates, plastic forks with mice running all over on everything. Pretty nasty. Understand upstate woods but afraid be on us sleeping. Pd for dog.had make sure didn't leave water bowl on floor ants mice be in it. Be nice have it ck out yourself. Get a good refund back.

Hi Sharon, The homeowners were saddened to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following: - Thank you for choosing to stay in our Saranac Lake cabin and for taking the time to leave a review. Guest feedback is crucial to us and the success of our vacation rental business. We sincerely apologize for not providing the exceptional experience we strive for all our guests to enjoy.- We are addressing the pest issue this weekend as soon as the current guests check out. We typically manage ants with traps instead of sprays. - We will speak with our cleaning crew today to ensure thorough inspections moving forward.- Given the busy season, we will consider extending the time between bookings for proper maintenance.- The property is in a very wooded area where mice can be an issue; however, we are taking steps to manage this better.- The lawn is maintained 2-3 times a year as it is more of a meadow, but we will mow it this Sunday.- We assure you that we are in the process of figuring out a fair resolution, as your experience is of the utmost importance to us. Thank you for your insight, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again soon!

Perfect North Country Stay
Loved this house! It’s wide open, yet still cozy. Feels like you’re deep in the woods and yet only a mile from town. The home is super comfortable, especially for a deep woods getaway, but don’t expect ultimate luxury as it’s really more of an elevated log cabin.
I needed some rest and relaxation and this property was exactly that. The cabin is very secluded and quiet but still has access to wifi. I have a wonderful time.
We loved the woods feel of the property but how close it is to town. Perfect location if you're looking to climb high peaks. The only thing I would suggest is getting fans for the upstairs bedrooms because it was hot at night. Overall, we had an amazing time and see ourselves booking this for winter.
The cabin is an open space but at the same time cozy. The forest surrounding with the multitude of windows feels like you are one with nature.
Listing is very accurate and the evolve team is in touch if you have any problems. Oh, the welcome maple syrup gift was perfect!
We had a very relaxing and peaceful stay in the house. The house was very clean, uncluttered and well appointed for our in home cooking, reading and TV binge watching needs. We skied both Whiteface Mountain (less than 30 minute drive) and Titus Mountain (an hours drive). There is a lovely walk out to McKenzie Pond just beyond the property through the woods. Breathtaking winter walk with the pooch. Owners were so kind in leaving us a lovely welcome gift of dog biscuits and treats for our pooch and a generous bottle of local syrup for us. Owners were totally accessible, they reached out to us. They were so kind in sharing the woods to pond path location and even giving us the option to stay another night as a big winter storm rolled in the morning of our departure. It is a gem of a property. Thank you for giving our family the experience of its serenity.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Relax and store food in the microwave
Spacious, well supplied, well lighted, thoughtfully decorated and appointed space. We spent three weeks relaxing, rejuvenating, walking on nearby trails - Haystack Mountain and the Peninsula Trail in Lake Placid - reading, writing, doing artwork. Great wifi and technology. Great local and organic produce and prepared foods at Nori's in Town, Coffee at Origins - all you need. Loved being in this quiet, wooded house.
Major problem with misrepresentation: the walk to Mackenzie Pond is NOT open to the people who stay in this house, regardless of what the listing says. It is a private right of way not accessible legally or appropriately through the neighbor's property. Major problem contacting the designated person for an issue. The contact person, who is the owner, has a number for you to call, but it has a full mailbox so one cannot leave a message. I contacted, via email, EVOLVE, because we saw a SQUIRREL in the kitchen- during the day. I live in the country. I understand mice, etc. And, yes, squirrels. However, that is something to call about, and that is something that EVOLVE needed to know. And, at least check out the place - or let the owner know. I received a reply: We are sorry blah blah, you will have $250 off your next rental.
That was it. We plugged the area where we saw the squirrel disappear (under the stove), heard things at night, but never saw another. We put our bananas and tomatoes in the Microwave at night having found chewed areas in them when we forgot. We found chewed toilet paper hanging from the dispenser roll. As I said, we live in the country so we weren't freaked or even flustered. But, our house? We would have at least wanted to check it out to see if we could locate the egress or entry. Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, we loved the play.
The house was in excellent condition and had almost everything we needed. It was in close proximity to everything we wanted to do. Wish we could have enjoyed the back deck more but the weather did not cooperate. The one afternoon we spent using it was wonderful.
Bring your own ziplock bags and Tupperware if you are planning on taking long hikes. Also, many of the restaurants in Saranac were closed during the week so make sure to check ahead if you'd like to eat out.
We would definitely come back again!
The house is located just outside Saranac Lake in a peaceful wooded setting up the hill. Short drive to grocery, kayak and boat rentals, and trailheads for hiking. Great wifi if you do have to work from computer. Kelly was helpful answering any questions we had.
