Fusilier Cottage is a charming bluestone and sandstone Georgian house. The cottage was built with convict labour around 1838; and, in 2018 the current owners commissioned a contemporary extension that would result in a thoroughly modern home which would respect the history and Tasmanian context of the heritage cottage.
The cottage has four bedrooms. The two ground floor bedrooms both have double beds - one a king size and the other a queen size. Upstairs, two cosy dormer rooms are furnished with king-single beds (120 cm wide). Furnishings have been selected for comfort and style.
The living area is a spacious glass-walled living area which opens directly onto the contemporary cottage garden. There are views across Kelly street to the waterfront and distant hills.
A well-equipped kitchen features a brass bench, Siemens refrigerator, freezer, induction stovetop and intelligent oven, toaster and jug; all the crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils needed to cook a great meal.
The main bathroom features a luxury white-stoned bath, walk-in shower and brass fittings. A second, shared bathroom includes railing and shower seat for disabled guests. Hair dryer, towels, snuggly throws and bathrobes.
The wood panelled dining room features a beautiful timber dining table and setting for six.
There is a discreet laundry with washing machine and dryer.
Thermostat controlled hydronic floor heating and complementary wood fire. Wifi throughout, smart TV, and Sonos sound system.
The property is superbly furnished with Tasmanian art, antiques and artisanal furniture.
