Don't let the title dissuade! Private family home being managed through a home rental company. It is a very, very nice home and the rental company was very communicative and easy to deal with. They're pros at this so there is nothing left to chance with regard to confusing check in procedures, wifi codes or even where garbage goes. It was all seamless. The house manager was very attentive and left us alone when we wanted to just be at the house or was right there if we requested anything.
This home was a family's day-to-day home. There was a regular sized fridge with a few items in it from the family making it difficult to fit in 14 people's food and beverages for the weekend. I know that sounds crazy but when you're vacationing, to-go boxes and bottled water/soda tends to be far bulkier than how you would typically keep a fridge when you're at home.
The rental company stored private items like the family's espresso maker and toaster, providing a Nespresso machine instead. Loved that, personally. But the toaster provided (or maybe it was the family's normal toaster (?)) was a bulky slow old school toaster oven. Toaster aside, it was clear the rental mgmt company tried to replace some personal items with items they provide for their rental homes and sometimes it made sense, others were a head scratcher. Hotel style hair dryers were provided instead of using the personal hair dryer of the home owner. We'd look for a kitchen towel and only find ratty washcloths in the kitchen drawer. Was that a rental company replacement or is that what the homeowner actually uses? Not what I would expect from the cost of this rental but again, you're renting a home not a hotel.
The home was really clean except a few toilet seats had visible spots on them which wiped easily when we hit them with lysol wipes. So that was gross. Not a mark against the home but their cleaning team missed it.
It is marketed as an 8 bedroom home but there is only 1 king bed, 1 full bed, 2 queen beds & 4 twin bunks in the bunk room (that has no door & no dedicated shower). Everything else is a blowup.
Master bedroom is downstairs and before you celebrate that, know the door is RIGHT off/in the kitchen. Anyone doing anything in the kitchen will make noise clearly heard in the master. When people are up late on vacation hanging in the kitchen, it sucked. The biggest luxury here was we had common space to share as a family which you'd never get in a hotel. Thats priceless.
