About this property

Log Cabin Retreat on Mississippi River, hot tub, sleeps 6

(Please make sure you have chosen the correct Country of origin on the home page so that quote shown is provided in the correct currency)

Looking for a tranquil summer getaway? Our cabin on the beautiful Mississippi River has a hot tub overlooking the river and the fire pit, a fireplace to cozy up inside, and lots of space to go for a peaceful walk in the woods. Our deck is ready for you to watch the sunrise in the morning with your coffee and a book and to enjoy the sunset after you play in the rapids, and then head into the hot tub.

Come get away from the city to our incredible log cabin on the Mississippi River an hour from Ottawa and Kingston. Built from wood harvested directly from the property, there is a sumptuous great room with a huge floor to ceiling fireplace. The fireplace has an insert to provide natural wood heating and gives off that wonderful wood warmth. The room is filled with cathedral ceilings, picture windows overlooking the beautiful Mississippi River; stained glass inserts made by a local Perth artist, bicolour pine floors, log stairs/railings. It is a fully furnished, 2400 square foot log cabin home situated on 5 acres of beautiful woods. We are west facing and you can sit on the deck and watch the amazing sunsets over the river. This is a 4 season cabin, with different delights in each season – fall colours, pristine snowfalls, summer fun in the water, and new spring growth to enjoy. This is a place to relax, to clear your mind of the stresses of daily life. Your soul will be settled and refreshed. This is our family cottage and we invite you to share it with us.

2 bedrooms each have a queen bed, plus there are 2 twin beds and 1 queen bed in the finished bright basement. We have 3 full baths, one on each floor, one with a heat lamp for added coziness. There is hardwood on the second floor, a mostly carpet over the cement basement, and the main floor is ceramic tile and wood.

We have 300 feet of secluded shoreline with a river ready for playing in. Bring your water shoes and get ready to play in the rapids. There is one spot that is deep enough to submerge and be massaged by the water coming down.

The cabin is equipped with BBQ, kayak, and canoe. There are nearby boat launches on Stump and Miller Lakes for your boats and SUPs and for swimming.

On the river, we sometimes see otters and a beaver playing in the water! Deer and turkeys often walk down the driveway on their way through the forest. We have porcupines and squirrels. The water quality is amazingly crystal clear with gentle access for both adults and small children. We have a dog friendly policy, please inquire with the owner if you would like to bring your pet. The river is well known for fishing.

In the spring, if the water is high, you can launch a canoe or kayak from our beach as well.

We are an Ottawa based family with lots of people that love coming up and enjoying getting outside, playing in the water, and enjoying the beauty of the land. Our two dogs love coming up, and it's become a gathering place for friends and family, time and time again.

Why they chose this property

We love this property and have loved it for over 15 years. We were finally able to obtain it in 2015 and enjoy sharing this beautiful part of Ontario with others. We take a lot of pride in our log cabin and try to make sure it has everything you will need to thoroughly enjoy your time here.
