Beautiful Three Bedroom/Two & 1/2 Bathroom Home; Sleeps 8 - Along the River and Close To Town.
Enjoy this 2600 square foot custom-finished log home in the San Juan Mountains in beautiful Lake City Colorado. Rock the afternoon away on the covered front porch or enjoy the sunny 440 sq. foot deck overlooking the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River with patio table and umbrella, gas grill and beautiful views of Round Mountain and Red Mountain. Relax to the sound of the river flowing by the rustic gazebo. This home was completed in 2007 with granite countertops, stained glass accents, hardwood floors, 22 foot vaulted aspen ceilings and is situated on seven town lots. Lake City is truly a mountain paradise! The kitchen is fully equipped including cookware, mixer, dishes, crockpot, pancake griddle, dishwasher, trash compactor, and a warming drawer. The new gas grill is just outside the double glass doors leading from the kitchen to the deck. The intimate dining room will seat 6 - 8 people with additional seating for two at the granite-topped island. The master suite has double glass doors leading to a deck overlooking the river and a lovely king-sized mattress. The private bath has double sinks with a tub/shower with a glass door. The art glass window provides a wonderful mountain breeze. The upstairs bedroom with queen bed and private balcony affords magnificent views of the river and canyon. The second upstairs bedroom has a queen bed with views of the town. Between the two bedrooms is a spacious, shared bath with doors from each bedroom. Each bedroom has a huge walk-in closet as well. This large, shared bath has double pedestal sinks separated by a granite top vanity. The tub/shower combination with glass doors and toilet are in a separate room. These two upstairs bedrooms lead into the large loft furnished with a rustic-but-new pool table with a catwalk leading to an electronic Yamaha keyboard. All beds have heated mattress pads, and there is central heat for your comfort as well. The upstairs bedrooms were designed to have naturally circulating air. What this means is that each of the two upstairs bedrooms have 20 foot vaulted ceilings, and the air from the two rooms escapes upward. And the center wall of each of the rooms is 9 feet tall. However, part of the ceiling of each of the two rooms is open so that air escapes and naturally circulates with all of the air in the home. This creates a natural, circulating air system that keeps the temperatures extremely comfortable. Although these two rooms are side-by-side, there are two closets and a bathroom separating them. Because of the design (and ceiling fans in both upstairs rooms and two over the loft), even snoring & conversation can generally not even be detected outside of your bedroom. There is ample parking for multiple vehicles including an RV area with both 30 and 50 amp service and a carport. A lockable 180 sq foot storage room off the carport gives you ample space to safely store bicycles, coolers, and sporting gear out of the weather. There are 5 bicycles (including a child's bike) and an air pump for your enjoyment. The upstairs loft with skylights and mountain-view windows is stocked with Monopoly, puzzles, cards, UNO, Phase 10, Skipbo, and a collection of various novels. This is a great getaway area to spend undisturbed time on a puzzle or enjoy a book in the comfortable chair with your feet up on the ottoman. The new 46' Sony Bravia LCD television in the great room has a PlayStation 3 with 2 controllers that plays both traditional CD and Blue Ray discs (bring your own games or extra controllers for hours of fun!). The laundry room is equipped with washer, dryer, ironing board, iron and clothes rack. Limited laundry detergent is also supplied. With the cabin situated in the old historic district, you are within a few blocks of the downtown area, post office, multiple eating establishments, churches, town parks, coffee shops, post office, fly fishing shop, quaint shops, visitors' center, movie theater, and new state-of-the-art medical center. So relaxing to just to keep your car parked and watch the fawns frolic through town! The town of Creede (outstanding theater in the summer, restaurants, shopping art galleries, excellent fly fishing & guides) is about an hour to the south, and the larger ski-towns of Gunnison (50 miles to the north) and Crested Butte (1 1/2 hours north) are fun day trips with river rafting (check out Taylor River in Gunnison), restaurants (Garlic Mike's in Gunnison), and many specialty shops. The coffee bistro and Colorado-style Mexican food at Donita's in Crested Butte are family favorites. All three of these small towns--Gunnsion, Creede, and Crested Butte are easy day trips from Lake City. For those wanting a national park experience, a day hike through the Black Canyon of the Gunnison is guaranteed not to disappoint. You'll be sure to thoroughly enjoy your stay in this picturesque mountain town which is truly a step back in time.

We love Lake City, and staying at this particular property (Mountain Memories) took us back to our first stay, in 2019, when we stayed next door (The Ritz) - this smaller property was perfect for our smaller party - we hope to be back next year!
Nice clean property right on the river. Drinking coffee on back porch was the icing on the cake 👍

Wonderfully comfortable home in the beautiful San Juan Mountains!
Family members gathered from all across the USA to rest, relax, visit, eat, fish, hike and take in the Wine and Music Festival. Riverfront Log Cabin was the perfect spot for us. The weather was wonderful allowing us to enjoy the outside patio areas as well as the lovely cabin itself. We hope we can stay here again in the future.

Winter wonderland
Just spent 9 delightful days in beautiful Lake City in one of the nicest "cabins" I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. Everything was so well thought out...wonderful amenities, well supplied and conveniently located! The views from the various windows....wonderful, especially after the snow made the landscape a winter wonderland. Completely enjoyable!!!! Cathy

We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay. The very thing that attracted us to this cabin was its close proximity to town (and the river!). We enjoy walking to dinner, to the park, to get ice cream, and all along the beautiful walking trails through town. The new linens and towels have been a big hit as well. Thanks for your good feedback!
We stayed with a total of 2 families and grandma. We had plenty of room to spread out and everyone had their own bed. The kitchen was big enough for of all of us to be in there cooking, cleaning, etc. The cabin was well stocked and exceeded our expectations with what was available. The kids enjoyed the fire pit and making s’mores. The sound of the river from the porch was amazing. The location was perfect as well. We rode for 4 days and having easy access to both Engineer and Cinnamon pass made our rides easy. We enjoyed going into town and checking out the brew pub as well as the soda company for ice cream and Italian cream sodas. We will for sure book here again next time.

Home Away from Home
Could not imagine staying anywhere else in Lake City! We are a family of five (two adults, one teenage son, and b/g 9 year old twins). This luxurious cabin is located close to the heart of town, but very nice and quiet. Mattresses were very comfortable. We either walked or rode bikes (included with cabin) each day. Whether we were going to have some evening ice cream, dinner, the grocery, shops or to the park, getting there was quick and relaxing. We saw deer each day either in our yard or across the street. We did the Alpine Loop, spent a day on Lake Cristobal and fished at Big Blue Creek. We always looked forward to coming back to the cabin in the evenings to relax! Lake City is a hidden treasure to most tourists. We would love to spend our summers there. The locals are so friendly and charming! We hope to stay at Mountain Memories for many years to come.

Glad you had a comfortable stay! As of this summer, the upstairs bedrooms have new plush, pillow top mattresses. And they're now both queen-sized beds. Thanks for the feedback.

5 Star in Lake City!
I have been going to Lake City for many years and can say from experience that rental cabins this nice are very hard to come by in Lake City. This cabin has a "new-upscale-look". Great convenient location on a quiet street, but only one block from the main drag. Unlike most Lake City rentals, this cabin has a Crested Butte or Telluride feel. The decor, the cleanliness, the supplies, the furniture, the bathrooms, porches, and kitchen were all outstanding. Plenty of hot water for everyone showering each day. The river/stream is closer than the pictures indicate. We had deer and fawns in the front and backyard every day. The only minor negatives were you have to be very careful on the stairs. Two adults in our party almost fell at the mid-landing of the stairs. Just be sure to firmly hold on to the handrail every single time! Also the internet log-in never worked so we called the caretaker whose wife stated her husband would stop by, but he never did, but it was ok because we were busy with outdoor activities. Over-all this is a great place to stay in Lake City and it is obvious the owner has a real commitment to excellence in providing guests with wonderful accommodations. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting upscale in Lake City.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! This cabin features a hardwood staircase and landing which adds to its artistic beauty. For those with difficulty natigating steps, Mountain Memories also offers a single story cabin (VRBO #427595) that is close to town, beautifully furnished, and equally as enjoyable. Internet and cell coverage have been unusually sporadic this summer for everyone in Lake City. We are investigating making a change to a new internet provider that just added Lake City to their network.
Beautiful finishes, convenient location, and always great being in the river. Having bikes to use is a major plus as well. Wonderful property manager as well.
Great modern cabin. Very nice kitchen. Easy walk into town. Kimberly the property manager is very helpful and cares about guests stay. We have stayed here several times and always had a good experience.
We've been to Lake City many times over the years but this is the first time we have stayed in a house in town. The property was amazing. Walking distance to everything, access to the river, etc. It was very clean and comfortable and well-stocked with supplies. Will definitely stay here again.
Lovely, updated home. Kitchen is well stocked. Great space for three couples. Beautiful deck and backyard with firepit down by the water. Even with the state-wide fire ban, we enjoyed sitting by the river after a long day of riding. The open loft design for the upstairs bedrooms with Jack & Jill bathroom does lend to a feeling of loss of privacy. Only complaint is there are no locks on the upstairs bathroom doors and water closet.
This was such a lovely cabin surrounded by mountains and a cute town. My husband had just passed away, so a friend who lost her husband recently joined me.on this trip, It was just what we needed after a sad and stressful month, with such beauty and serenity around us. We wished we could bottle the perfect weather. Janet Jansen
