About this property
'Sea Haven' 3 BR Oceanfront plus short walk to Fortunes Rocks Beach
If the dates that you want are taken, please be aware that the smaller cottage (the Palace/la MerVeille) still has availability, so please do ask me about that. Thank you! Waterfront cottage on sheltered cove--rocks, sand, sea glass! Incredible Views of rocky coast from open deck + 3 rooms with huge windows, incl. bedroom! Eat while watching Lobster Boats come into cove to tend their traps! Best of both worlds: beside Short Beach plus short walk to Long Public Beach for surfing or running with the sea at your feet and wind in your hair! Water in every direction.
Character: delightful diamond-pane old windows, French doors Smaller cottage towards back of property also has ocean views, in case other family members or friends want to be nearby. See HomeAway #3469463 . Internet, Spectrum TV, Books, Children's Books, Puzzles, Games.
The beautiful white sand beaches of Biddeford offer a getaway vacation that you will want to return to every summer--and this cottage offers the perfect spot. Enjoy watching sparkling water and waves breaking on the rocks, from the comfort of your living room or deck. Wade in the sheltered waters on the small beach just a few steps away, or stroll down to jump in the waves on the 3-mile-long beach just over the hill--Fortunes Rocks is known for its beaches, and surfers visit all year! The quiet small beach and the splashing public beach are as different as night and day, and this house is one of the very few giving you the best of both. One very special bedroom has huge windows looking out over the cove and beach, for peaceful sunrise and glorious sunsets. What could be more romantic than watching the moon cross the sky with moonlight glittering on the water below! Eat with a view of the cove, in the south porch with its huge windows like in the bedroom above. Better than any fancy restaurant! Sip your tea on the open deck overlooking the cove and beach. Stroll out into the yard and enjoy the flowers, then step down the wooden ramp onto the beach to explore rock pools at the edge of the sea. Sit on the beach with the light breeze and the sand between your toes--the kids can make sand castles in the fresh salty air. Town is only a few minutes away, where you can discover that the historic districts of Biddeford and Saco provide delightful walks. New development has brought cafes (including Panera Bread) and ethnic restaurants. The mills have been transformed by artisans, woodworkers, and many small businesses in the new loft spaces on the island in the Saco River. History and architecture buffs will enjoy the “Museum on the Streets” self-guided walking tour. Scenic river views may be enjoyed from trails, a gazebo, and benches. Funtown, Aquaboggin, & shopping malls are nearby: To the north, there is Old Orchard (15 minutes), Portland (a half hour), and Freeport's LL Bean store just beyond. To the south, Boston is an hour and a half, Kennebunkport just 15 minutes, and the shopping at Kittery in between. Boater's paradise: there is a boat launch on the Saco River; kayak rentals for the river/salt marshes to the north/the ocean! There are lobster boats, fishing boats, boats to whale-watch! Artists paint islands and lighthouses at Biddeford Pool, and visit galleries from Perkins Cove to Kennebunkport. Naturalists can walk the beach, the salt marshes, woods, and fields, watching for birds, chipmunk, woodchuck, beaver, fox, wild turkey, deer, moose, ... Bigfoot?!!? Well, what's a summer without a little adventure? Maine is Vacationland, and 'Sea Haven' at Fortunes Rocks has the best location of all. Near shopping, arts, theatre, antiques, book sales, whale watch, fishing, kayaking, lobster! Perfect for just resting and rejuvenating in the salty air! See the Milky Way and a sky full of stars from our yard or deck, then sleep with the sound of the gentle waves and the smell of the salt air. Getting there: Apart from driving, or flying to Boston (BOS) or Porland (PWM), you could even come by train! The Amtrak station, opened in 2009, is notable for being the first green design train station in the U.S., featuring a wind turbine for electricity, geothermal heating and cooling systems, and a roof made from recycled soda bottles.

We would have liked newer towels, washcloths, dish towels. Beds were comfortable and we had plenty of blankets to keep us warm. The view was beautiful and overall we had a great stay!
We had a wonderful time. The place was absolute beautiful. Suzanne was gracious, informative and helpful. The peace and serenity we experienced was especially appreciated by our 86 year old friend, who is fighting cancer. Our stay far exceeded any of our desired expectations! Although we were sad to leave, knowing that we will be returning next year helped to lessen our sadness.
Sea Haven is the quintessential summer cottage/ camp. It is dated but serviceable and clean, well maintained. Gorgeous views in nearly all spaces. Access to a private beach. Peaceful.
It was amazing to be able to walk out to our beach backyard with the whole family! The dogs had a blast watching the tide and the full moon was radiant. The mornings were extra special with coffee on the beach porch. The meals we had were full of memories because we could actually see the whole ocean while eating! Thank you for an unforgettable stay at this amazing place!
Even though it was on the bay, it would have been nice to see more of the open waters. The day we stayed was great so we utilized the deck. It could use some upgrades but overall a nice stay.
Nothing can beat the location of this quaint cottage - right on the water with access to a small private beach. We were able to put our kayaks right in the water and explore, watch the wild life (we had a cute duck family that visited every day) and be lulled by the waves to sleep each night. The house is surprisingly roomy with many places to sit/eat comfortably and watch the water. The kitchen is pretty well equipped although there is no dishwasher. We had a great vacation!
Wow! This oceanfront cottage is right on a beautiful private beach with amazing views. We spent most of our time sitting on the deck enjoying the sound of the ocean waves. Our dogs loved running on the adjacent beach. Communication with owner was excellent. We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
My brother and I traveled to Biddeford for a 3 night getaway and were thrilled to have been able to stay at Suzanne’s Sea Haven property. Its location on the water in Fortunes Rocks cannot be beat! The house was clean, bright and well equipped with rooms upstairs and down having great ocean views. Suzanne was a terrific host, providing detailed check-in/out instructions and providing a tremendous amount of information about the home, the locale and the coastal southern Maine area. Although the weather during our stay was cloudy, chilly and rainy the house was comfortable and welcoming. I am grateful to Suzanne for allowing us to stay in this lovingly cared for property that has been in her family for generations! I hope to be able to return for a longer stay in the summer or fall!

Yearly Vacation
Check in was easy. Kitchen was pretty well stocked except the was no dish pan for washing dishes or a dish strainer. We purchased our own. A laundry was listed but there was no laundry, and the dinning room which she said was now a bed room had a small table, old worn out couch and an antique cupboard with dishes, and a dirty rug. The electric out lets had no power and the celling light quit working. We were disappointed but had a nice vacation. I will not rent it again or refer this renal to anyone.
Great location. Nice private beach. Quick response by host. Close to Kennebunkport and Portland. The Lobster Co. is close for fresh seafood including live lobster. Cooked many seafood dinners in the well equipped kitchen including a large lobster pot. Public beach was fantastic and within walking distance. If you’re into antiquing, you’re in luck. Would definitely recommend, we stayed in the big house (Sea Haven).

Sea Haven Was An Absolute Delight To Visit!
We had a lovely stay at Sea Haven over Memorial Day weekend. We had 3 adults and 2 children and we had plenty of room to spread out, make meals, enjoy the views and completely relax. The kitchen and use of the grill offered us plenty of options for dining in and there were many restaurants to access in either Biddeford or Kennebunkport. Fortunes Rocks public beach was beautiful and a short walk from the home. The girls enjoyed the private beach right in front of the house as well. The owner was delightful to work with before and during our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back!
My family and I enjoyed our short stay at Fortunes Rock!! Loved the expansive views of the ocean from the dining room and bedroom windows. It was very peaceful watching and hearing the waves roll in. Suzanne (the owner) was very responsive and helpful offering a variety of suggestions on places to go visit. We loved visiting the scenic towns of Kennebunkport, Old Orchard Beach and Ogunquit which were close by. The house was older but charming and clean. We would definitely come back here and stay in the future.

Thank you so much for your review! Being right ON the water with the picturesque cove is so special! I do try to improve it every year: the unique hand-made kitchen counter, leather couch, and large tv are some of the new things. The cleaners and I love to take care of it. Please come again. It helps keep the place where I grew up in the family--my daughter hopes to live there one day!

Serene spot
Sea Haven is a beautiful taste of coastal Maine, a relaxing place away from crowds, yet close to many interesting attractions. The cottage has several rooms with panoramic views of the cove, so even in inclement weather you can enjoy the surroundings. A nice feature is it's proximity to walkable beaches as well as it's own semi-private beach.
Furnishings are vintage, but comfortable, and the kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils for whatever cooking you want to do. There is an outdoor grill and the owner will provide you with lots of suggestions for where you can get the freshest seafood. We thought we were very familiar with the Biddeford area, but the owner enhanced our stay with new suggestions for us to explore.
If you want a real Maine experience, you will be delighted with Sea Haven.

Lovely Location but...
The small deck has a stunning view of the ocean and rocks. It's the best part of this property. The second best is that its only steps away from a lovely private beach.
The interior of the property is sorely in need of a serious update. Much of the furniture looks like it came from a thrift store back in the 80's. Luckily there is a clean leather sofa in the living room.
The property needs a major cleaning...windows...and especially carpets.
The owner was very responsive to our calls and texts. She couldn't be nicer.

Thank you for your compliments! Location is so important, and I'm glad you think this is lovely, as we do, too! I do try to improve it every year: the unique hand-made kitchen counter, leather couch, and large tv are some of the new things. The antique window glass is hard to clean, but we try. My property manager has been working on reglazing the many window panes this summer. We do plan to change the carpets. Please come again. It helps keep the place where I grew up in the family--my daughter hopes to live there one day!

That view!!!
It was breathtaking pulling up to Sea Haven the first time. The house is edged right over the ocean, and the beach is your front yard. There is a small deck that I had my morning coffee, and then my evening cocktails, on each day, watching the changing tides- it was exactly what I hoped for when I saw pictures!
My only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is because the house itself is outdated as is the decor, but you can see the owners have made updates slowly and are continuing to do so. It had everything that we needed however- coffee pot, comfortable bed (with big glass windows overlooking the ocean), fully functioning kitchen. Very clean bathrooms and plenty of space to relax. There is a great sunporch to still relax on during rainy days, and the neighborhood is absolutely charming.
We will surely be back!

Great views, old home
My family and I rented this house for a long weekend. The views were spectacular and the sounds of the ocean were amazing. The beach is right outside and feels like our own private beach. But the house is old. Windows are just barely on their tracks. The bathrooms do not have outlets for electric savers or blow dryers. Most of the light fixtures must be turned on manually. When we arrived, the hot water was not turned on, so you will have to manually turn on the hot water from the electrical board. Despite how old the house was, my family and I had a great time eating breakfast with a view, drinking beers on the deck, and enjoying the quiet semi-private beach.

Thank you for the review, Jeff.
I am slowly updating things (leather couch, unique kitchen counter, etc.) and will work on more every year.
I have spoken to the cleaners and property manager, and they should check to make sure the water heater is turned on (the previous guests apparently turned it off accidentally when they very kindly turned off the electric baseboard heaters).
Please do come and enjoy the place again.

We refused to stay. Bugs and cobwebs in foyer next to a full canister of the vacuum. Filthy door leading to living area. Thick layer of dirt and grime on smoke dedector. Carpet ripped up by door on screened porch. Double pane patio door windows leaked and stained. Weeds grown up in enkept lawn. Vrbo states a/c but that is only on dining porch. Chair covers looked like someone wrestled on them. Dirty door tracks. Rusty heat vent covers. Delapidated furniture with broken down seats. Trash under back steps. Paint peeling on exterior. Duct tape holding screen in, in master bedrooom. I took 42 pictures of why we didnt stay. And stated owner was a premier host. Smh!
The beach was great, and the house and beaches were very pet friendly. The deck has a great sunset view. The driveway was a bit tricky for a Suburban, but the drivers in the neighborhood were patient and respectful. I felt safe walking in the area. The house is overdue for a thorough deep clean of walls, floors, baseboards so that may be what some of the other reviews were negative about. Bathrooms, sinks, counters, tables were clean. It was a peaceful, relaxing location which was everything I needed.
Wonderful home with lots of character. The location right on the ocean was incredible. From the sun porch downstairs we had a beautiful view of rocks in a cove with incredible sunsets. upstairs in the sleeping sun porch the same view was available and if you looked out the side window you had a view of the ocean and beautiful sunrises. The home was clean and well equipped. Very relaxing stay
