About this property
Secluded and serene lakefront cottage
Get back to what matters at this secluded, 3-bedroom off-grid cottage on a gorgeous, quiet lake. Enjoy the peace and privacy of this recently upgraded cabin, surrounded by crown land and packed with amenities.
- An additional, screened-in dining room on water's edge
- 2 kayaks, canoe and a rowboat
- No neighbours and only one other cottage on the entire lake
- New appliances
- LCBO, cafes, stores in nearby Port Loring (10 minutes)
This clean, comfortable off-grid cottage sits on a large, secluded lakefront property with no neighbours and views of forested crown land across an almost private lake.
Perfect for those looking to unplug, rest and experience the peace and stillness of nature. While solar panels provide enough power for lights, a fridge with freezer, a water pump, and charging devices, the off-grid cottage cannot power microwaves, hair dryers, and other energy sucking electric appliances.
Great for couples, families and small groups of friends. Not suitable for large gatherings or parties.
*OUTSIDE:
- Enjoy two kayaks, a canoe and a row boat (3 adult-sized lifejackets available for use)
- Great swimming in clean lake
- A fire pit
- Incredible star-gazing on clear nights
- 450 feet of private waterfront on 3.5 acres, lots of open space and grass for frisbee, soccer, lawn games
- Flowing, freshwater spring steps away for cold, clean drinkable water
- A separate screened-in dining and games room, overlooking the water
- Propane BBQ
- Great fishing on semi-private lake with Pike, Bass (large and small mouth), Crappie, Perch, Sun Fish, and Cat Fish
- Surrounded by crown land
- For hunters, the cottage is in WMU 47
*INSIDE:
- New kitchen appliances (fridge and gas stove) and kitchen stocked with dishware, cutlery, pots, and pans.
- Very comfortable beds (1 queen, 2 bunks beds each with a double and twin mattress).
- Please bring your own towels.
- A small selection of board games, DVDs and TV with HDMI hook up
- Flush toilet and hot water shower and in bathroom as well as clean and comfortable outhouse (water is shut off during winter months).
- A mounted, vented propane heater is available to guests visiting during colder months.
- Cottage is off-grid and powered by solar panel batteries (with a backup gas-powered generator).
*WIFI: When turned on, a new cell booster may provide decent coverage - but we’ve seen mixed results depending on your cell phone carrier. So no guarantees. To be safe, count on a ‘digital detox’ while you're here.
*NEARBY:
- Port Loring is less than 10 minutes away by car. LCBO, cafes and diners, gas station and general stores (suggest doing larger grocery shop before you arrive).
- Some nearby attractions include: Restoule Provincial Park, Noganosh Lake Provincial Park, Board's Honey Farm, Rockcliffe Pottery & Craft Shop, and Stonethrow Pottery.
- Dual Rill Farms is just a few minutes away and sells eggs, some produce, and fresh local meat beef, pork, chicken.
- Note that bedroom walls do not go all the way to ceilings and do not have doors (curtains for privacy) in order for heat to circulate throughout the cottage.

About the host
Hosted by Dana Borcea

We're Dana and Dwayne and we're excited to welcome you to our secluded lakefront cottage in Golden Valley. We live and work in Hamilton, Ontario with our two children but love to escape and unplug here. We look forward to sharing this same feeling of peace with our guests.
Why they chose this property
If you're looking for privacy, lots of outdoor space to spread out, and no neighbors in sight, you'll love the peace and seclusion of this cottage. While simple and rustic, the cottage is very comfortable with new beds, fresh linens, an extendable dining room table, living room area, indoor plumbing (in spring, summer, fall), and a well-stocked kitchen with new appliances.
What makes this property unique
Additional screened in dining / games room at water's edge. Use of kayaks, rowboat and paddleboat. Great swimming. Solar-powered with a backup generator provides a unique and comfortable off-grid experience. Tons of privacy and room to spread out.
