Very Enjoyable
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The space was welcoming and the host's were very thoughtful. The outdoor space was divine (even with it raining most of the time!). We were able to walk to the bus stop and get downtown very easily.

Cozy apartment, Friendly Host
We had a lovely stay. Dora greeted us with a gorgeous plate of baked goods. Backyard was beautiful, lush, and well-maintained. The kitchen equipment left some room for improvement, but we're big on cooking, and most people on vacation probably aren’t using the kitchen as much as we did. Would absolutely stay here again!!
The bed in the main bedroom is so comfortable - I wish I knew the brand of pillow.

The host Dora was so sweet providing snacks, and coffee being well stocked was greatly appreciated! The beds were super comfortable. It was a great place for us to stay while attending a wedding nearby.

Escape to Portland
Dora is a wonderful host! The Urban Escape Portland was perfect for our group—it met all our needs. The central location was ideal for our trip, and thoughtful touches like the private entrance, dedicated parking spot, welcome goodie tray, available snacks, and comfortable beds made our stay especially enjoyable.
Lovely, comfy and convenient location. Had snacks and fresh baked muffins upon arriving. Enjoyed our stay.

Bit of difficulty
The property and amenities were reasonably fine. The place is roomy and was decorated for the holidays. A nice touch. The landlord is living upstairs and was quite attentive. The very big issue is road noise from Interstate 5. If you are at all sensitive to traffic noise in the yard, in the apartment, while sleeping, as I am, you might want to try another property. We had a five night reservation. We left after only one night because of the traffic noise. Very disruptive to our trip. The landlord was understanding and that was helpful to us as disappointed renters.

We want our guests to feel comfortable during their stay, and we’re sorry to hear the nearby road noise impacted your experience. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- The home’s location near the interstate is noted in the listing to help set expectations, and many guests appreciate the convenient access to downtown Portland and nearby attractions.
- We understand that noise sensitivity can vary, and we appreciate the suggestion about adding a white noise machine as an additional comfort feature.
- We were glad we could work with you regarding the refund for the unused nights.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We appreciate your feedback as we continue looking for ways to improve the guest experience.
This was the perfect place for a brief family get-together. The hostess, Dora, was gracious and charming, the yard was huge and perfect for our two small dogs, and the house was well-equipped and thoughtfully supplied. A great value for a pleasant and peaceful stay.
I stay in rentals all over the country. This one gets my highest rating. The owner has worked very hard to make it so comfortable - the bed was amazing - and everything so clean.
Dora, our host, was great! Fresh flowers, fresh pastry, fresh fruit were all much appreciated attention to details for our family. Would love to come back.

Convenient home base.
We are a family of four and loved how this place was set up for kids. We had a couple rainy days and utilized the board games, paper for coloring, children’s books, and the snacks were a big hit. We found our location was close enough to downtown Portland and Multnomah Village (great food, shops, and toy store in this area). The freeway noise is fairly loud when outside (we already knew about this before our stay), but it didn’t stop me from enjoying coffee outside in the mornings in the beautiful, lush garden. Also, we found the house was well insulated and road noise was not a noticeable issue when inside. Dora was very helpful during our stay and provided excellent communication when we had a power outage. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Loved the space. Very close to highway so outdoor firepit that was listed likely should not be as the outdoor area was very loud. I am a country mouse though so city noise may not bother others.
We stayed here for 11 days during the preparations for my daughter's wedding. The apartment is beautifully decorated and the outside is lovely. In addition to the apartment, we had use of 2 beautiful outside seating areas. Dora, the host, was beyond gracious. She provided coffee and tons of snacks, and was very responsive and generous in multiple ways. We will definitely return if we have the opportunity in the future.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
PROS: The apartment was decorated nicely. Beds were comfortable. Apartment was easy to find off the freeway. Convenient to food, shopping and downtown. Dora left an assortment of snacks and pastries for us, along with drinks. Thank You, Dora. CONS: As in the description, this is a basement apartment. Host lives above. There is no sound barrier. You can hear most everything. Vacuuming, walking, TV, etc. You cannot control the thermostat. You must call Dora to change it. There is NO parking in the driveway. You are not told this until after you book. The street is a VERY small, one lane dead end with no turnaround and extremely limited parking. The fire pit furniture and area was covered in leaves and yard debris. Only a couple of the outside seats were usable on the patio as the others were green with algae and dirty. Barbecue grill is dirty and rusty inside. Ice maker had pink bacteria and mold. You can only use one kitchen appliance at a time because it will overload the circuit. Power strips and extension cords everywhere. Lipstick and dried/greasy food on some dishes. Bits of food along the baseboards in the kitchen, game pieces discovered in the living room rug. Hairs in the shower. Felt as if the place was just being cleaned on the surface (don't look along baseboards, etc). We weren't emailed check-in instructions until 4:30 pm. This did not impact our plans, thank goodness, as we were delayed in transit. Overall, not a comfortable stay for us on my Birthday weekend.

We are glad to hear you enjoyed the comfortable beds, nice decor, and the provided refreshments, as well as our convenient location. We take cleanliness seriously and apologize that the property did not meet our high standards upon your arrival. We have since completed a deep clean of the home, updated our cleaning team, and replaced the grill and outdoor cushions. To improve guest comfort, we have added a Nest thermostat so guests can now control the temperature directly, and we installed rugs with sound barriers to minimize noise between floors. Regarding parking, both driveway and street parking are available, though we recommend parking on the flat road for the easiest access. We also encourage guests to use appliances one at a time in the kitchenette to avoid overloading the breaker. Thank you for your feedback, as it has helped us make the necessary updates for future guest experiences.

Lovely!
We had a wonderful stay! The apartment is lovely and has everything that we needed. I was a little concerned about the noise level since it is so close to the freeway, but it was pleasantly quiet. Our host was very responsive to my inquiries regarding bakeries and food nearby. We had informed her of our initial late arrival, and she was kind enough to make the couch into beds for us so we could clean up and dive right in. Speaking of the beds, they were very comfortable and my husband slept better than he ever does when we travel. I would definitely stay here again and look forward to our next visit to Portland!

From the owner: "Thank you for the kind review. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay."
Cozy flat at the end of a dead end street. So pretty much no street noise. Flat was as described. Fire pit is nice but it was raining most everyday we were there which is no surprise as we also live in the PNW. I would say that having the grass mowed low might have made me slightly more inclined to try the fire. Was very nice to have wood supplied. I-5 South is just down the hill from the back yard. And while it can not be well seen it is well heard when out side. The flat is reasonably laid out. TV works great WiFi is reasonable. Come, and you can go to a different store. Property manager was very accessible. Would stay again.
The host Dora was excellent and made the stay extra special. Provided snacks, fruits, milk for the Keurig Latte maker (which we all enjoyed more than we would have expected), and offered to cook us food or any treats/breakfast items. We took her up on the offer and she prepared a wonderful dinner for us, as well as desserts for our first night. in the morning she brought us fresh cinnamon buns that were excellent- among the best buns we've had in a while.
The place was well appointed and the TV came with a number of streaming options which was nice since with a child and an infant we were slow moving. Beds were comfortable and the cozy rugs were great for everyone to play on. The backyard had places to enjoy outside including a fire pit. There is some freeway noise, the house is right next to I5. That does make it easy to get everywhere in town quickly. There is a park a short walk from the house, and the surrounding neighborhood has some hidden gems and is worth exploring.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dora’s home. The beds were comfortable and had the best pillows ever. Dora is a great hostess and had a lot of great suggestions for places to visit. I would definitely stay here again if we visit Portland again.

Great Stay!
This space was just as described. It looked like the photos, was very comfortable, and had everything we needed. Dora responded to us quickly and was very helpful! It was perfect for our trip! Thanks for a great stay!
I am certain Dora is soon be a super host. The small things matter and her attention to detail was amazing. Dora is a professional baker (retired I think) and upon arrival we were spoiled us with homemade cookies. The home is centrally located in Portland so we were able to get around very easily. I highly recommend Dora's retreat. The beds were comfortable. There is a large variety of board games for the family. Very comfortable stay for our family of four.
