Comfortable peaceful cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is very spacious and very comfortable. The heating was on when we arrived, as was the hot tub and heated blankets which made us feel very welcome and at home. The cottage has everything you need including a reasonably priced wine cellar. Our only note to the owner would be to protect some of the garden from the chickens so there is a clean area of grass for children to play in. This didn’t spoil our time there however. A perfect place to stay.

Fantastic place to stay
Louise is the perfect hostess. Her stone cottage is fabulous. Spacious, quiet, homely. The fridge and pantry were well stocked with breakfast goodies. We would stay again

Beautiful heritage listed house and garden.
Located in central Clyde close to all amenities this house is set in a well loved garden. There are many pricy areas in the garden to sit and peacefully contemplate the harmonious surroundings. The house interior is fully functional while maintaining the original 19th century style of the house. The host was readily available and had stocked the house with a variety of treats incurred fruit from the garden. We would highly recommend this property for a special family or group holiday.

About the host

Hosted by Louise Sinclair

Host profile image
Host Louise Sinclair returned to Clyde I'm 2020 with her family after many years away. Louise has restored the cottage lovingly and respectfully. Her back ground as talented interior designer shines throughout the property in the beautiful and elegant details.
The gardens are vast and lushous providing quite the show throughout the season. Louise is very proud to be able to share this lovely property that dates back to 1871. A garden map drawn by a previous owner has been unearthed at the Clyde mussium. The map from 1908 reveals the original planting and layout. Louise is committed to restoring the gardens to the original planings including mulberry and stone fruit trees.

Why they chose this property

Luxurious 1000 thread count organic cotton sheets. Stunning interiors. Central to everything! Walk 2min to all shops and cafes. Within the CBD historic area. Next to the Mataua/ clutha river. Steeped in history and exciting tails.
Orchard for guest to enjoy.
Lots of off street parking. Pet friendly. Delicious fresh breakfast selection.
Incredible generous gardens. You will love it

What makes this property unique

Clyde is the starting point for many cycle trails and is one of the most beautiful historic towns in Central Otago.
The historic stone home is the eldest home in Clyde and was built in 1871 by the towns solicitor Anthony Brough.
Anthony commissioned the build of this home to house his mistress and her 5 children!
Anthony's wife was housed in dunedin with her 5, we would have to assume they were equally loved.
The home is steeped in history and intriguing stories. It truly is a wonderful travlers experience.
There is a spa pool in the garden to relax after a day of exploring the stunning senic town, many local vineyards, restaurants, cafes, river trails and the beautiful lake dunstan.
The orchard on the property is bountiful and when in season guest can enjoy pic your own raspberries from the 100+ raspberry plants, stone fruit, green houses with herbs tomatoes and strawberries. There are also many other fruiting trees such as apples, pears and mulberry, so most seasons will offer some organic or spray free produce for guest along with fresh eggs from the lovely plymouth rock chickens.
You may even see the odd pheasant or guinea fowl hopping around.
