The Bondi Sandstone apartment Do you love Beaches, Coastal walks, Excellent cafes & restaurants? All within 3 minutes of the front door. On arrival, the entry key will be left in a location for you to access as per the check in instructions which you will receive day of your check in.
The Sandstone apartment is located 350m to Tamarama Beach, 400m to Bondi Beach & 300m from the water The "M Deli Cafe" is directly across the road which has delicious coffee, juices, breakfasts and lunches along with the local bus stop.
[Apartment Description and History] The apartment was cut and built into the Bondi sandstone with the generous help of my 3 children and friends over 2 years. It has exposed sandstone walls with polished concrete floors & plywood timber ceilings.
The apartment has an ocean and boat theme with a 48 year old timber kayak hanging on the main feature sandstone wall. A large wood carved sperm whale is on the window sill with a couple of old boat propellers, rudders and a ships steering wheel. The apartment is located below our home.
[Apartment Inclusions] The apartment is 85 square metres in size. It includes: The Space Our apartment is fully equipped for long-term stays or group getaways. Whether you're here for work or play, you’ll find everything you need to feel at home. • Fully Equipped Kitchen: Features a gas cooktop, electric oven, microwave, and full-sized fridge. We provide all the necessary cookware and tableware to whip up a home-cooked meal. • Flexible Sleeping Arrangements: * Master Bedroom: A comfortable Queen-sized bed with fresh linens. • Living Area: A spacious 4-seater couch. For groups of 3 to 5, we can set up up to three additional single pull-out beds upon request (see photos to get idea of set up). • Laundry Essentials: Washing machine and dryer in the apartment for your convenience. • Modern 'Wet Room' Bathroom: An open-plan bathroom featuring a vanity, toilet, and shower. We provide shampoo and conditioner to save you suitcase space. Please note: This is a contemporary wet-room design without a shower screen. • WiFi & Play: WiFi is available. When you're off the clock, challenge your group to a match on our full-sized ping pong table!
[Access] We'll provide you with keys, so you can come & go as you please. Instructions on how to access will be sent day of your check in.
[Apartment Climate] Because this home is hand-carved directly into the Bondi Sandstone, it is a subterranean space. This provides an incredible, grotto-like atmosphere, but it comes with specific natural characteristics - there is generally a different climate - cooler than outside in summer & warmer than outside in winter. During or after rain, you will see natural ground water 'weeping' down the rock faces. We have designed the apartment with an internal catchment and pump system to manage this—it is a normal and intentional part of the architecture, but these walls can be damp to the touch. With the ground water, apartment maintains a higher-than-outside humidity level. While we provide 2 high-capacity dehumidifiers you can run to ensure you’re comfortable, the space can hold a "cave-like" moisture without them during wet periods.
Due to the natural moisture levels inherent in natural underground sandstone walls , this may not be the best choice for those who suffer from Asthma or allergies triggered by natural dampness. We want you to prioritise your health and want to ensure this environment is a good fit for you.
[Beaches] Bondi Beach - is a 5 minutes walk Tamarama Beach - is a 3 minute walk. Bronte Beach - is a 10 minutes walk. Bondi Beach is the safest of the 3 local beaches and is patrolled by professional lifeguards all year around.
[Walks] The famous Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is 3 minutes from the front doorstep. This walk takes 2 to 3 hours to complete the return journey and takes you past Bondi beach, McKenzie’s Bay, Tamarama beach, Bronte beach, Clovelly beach, Gordon’s bay and Coogee beach. The walk does continue past Coogee to Maroubra for those who may want a longer walk.
[Cafes & Shops] There is the delicious "M Deli Cafe" across the road which is open 7 days a week and offers food for breakfast & lunch. There is a general store a 4 minute walk away and post office across the road also for any supplies required during your stay.
[Takeaways, Restaurants and Bars] It is a 4 minute walk to local takeaways, restaurants, wine bars and local hotel .The famous Bondi Icerbergs club is a 5 minute walk to where you can sip a beer and dine in the bistro whilst over looking the evening sunset, surf and waves of Bondi Beach or dine in the upsatirs in the 5 star dining Icebergs restaurant.
[Parking] The parking in our street is restricted to 2 hrs during the daytime however there is unlimited parking overnight from 6pm to 8 am. Unlimited daytime parking is available in the adjoining streets - the closest being 50 meters away - however at night parking is in high demand - so finding a parking space can be up to 200 meters away .
[Bus & Train] Regular bus services are available to Bondi Junction train station and the City from the bus stop across the road from the apartment. Bus 380 - Bondi to Bondi Junction and then onto Circular Quay in the City (30 minutes to City) Bus 381 - Bondi to Bondi Junction only (10 minute trip) Buses run every 20 minutes or so until midnight. The train trip from Bondi Junction to the city is 10 minutes with the trains running every 20 minutes or so until midnight.
[Airport] The Sydney international and domestic airports are a 25 minutes drive away & cost approx $50 by taxi (longer during traffic peaks) & are accessible by public transport too. There is also the Eastern Suburbs shuttle bus service that can pick up from our address to the airport and cost $25 per person.

If the dates you require are not showing as available on that calendar, it's because we're booked for those dates.
[Fees] Cleaning: We know how annoying hidden cleaning fees can be so we do not charge a cleaning fee. Our standard clean involves vacuuming, mopping, wiping/disinfecting surfaces, washing linens. It’s our decision to not charge for this. This comes with certain expectations to clean up after yourself in all spaces. - Tableware and cookware is free of residue, - Stovetop free of food stains and oil platter. - Drains are free of hair and toilet is presentable. - Surfaces are free of visibly clear Cleaning supplies are located under the kitchen sink and in the bathroom draw, paper towels in kitchen or pantry, and vacuum in bedroom cupboard. Cleaning required outside of our standard clean will result in additional fees.
Cost structure: Base nightly rate covers 2 guests. Additional guests will incur a fee of $25 per person per night.

The Sandstone apartment was a truly amazing place to stay. It’s located between two of Sydney’s nicest beaches and directly across the street from some amazing coffee. The exposed sandstone walls are unique and beautiful.
There was plenty of space in this apartment for 5 adults, and the 3 extra beds in the lounge were comfortable. The location is an easy walk to public transport and very close to the wonderful Bondi-Coogee coastal walkway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this sandstone oasis in a great location!
Beautiful apartment w so many unique features, walkable to beach and really nice/helpful owner, John. Lots of space! Easy to take bus into Sydney too. Would definitely stay here again.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The communication was great, informative and helpful. The location and size were perfect for us, help create a superb holiday!
Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Brilliant location near the beaches and easy transport options. Lovely set up to rest in between our adventures too, plus it was nice to have lots of games available to keep the kids entertained.
Gemma was so nice and welcoming. The location is fantastic just a quick walk to the beach. The apartment had everything we needed- we would like to stay there again one day!
Although this would be an excellent VRBO for the summer, it was quite cool in the springtime and only offered space heaters. We had to empty the dehumidifiers daily. The location was great and walking distance to good food and fun. The place was clean, but the bed was a little hard for our liking. Careful in the bath, as the floor for the shower dips close to the toilet and we had to be mindful. The cost was good, and the place was stocked with all that we needed.
We had 3 nights here and we all found the place very comfortable. Great location and everything we needed for a short stay to enjoy Sydney. The oldest particularly enjoyed chats with the owner.
