Idyllic classic beach house - top location, one level, private backyard

Bulubara means sun in local Guwar language . This sunny house is perfectly located in old Point Lookout. It's a five minute stroll to Deadman's or Cylinder Beaches and ten minutes to Home, Frenchman's or Main Beach. The Straddie pub is just up the road, and the grocery store and fish and chips shop are a stones throw from the house.

Bulubara House is an original 1950s Straddie beach shack which has been renovated for comfort while maintaining its retro charm. Bigger than it looks, there are plenty of spaces to spread out. It has three bedrooms, a lounge, a dining room/sleep out, a bathroom, and separate toilet and laundry out the back. The sleep out has a sofa and a table which can be used as a desk for work or a breakfast nook.

The private, shady backyard offers various spaces to relax. There is a large undercover area with lounge as well as dining and BBQ spaces. Kangaroos, curlews and other wildlife are regular visitors to the garden.

The interior is bright with a laid back vibe. Modern appliances and a well appointed kitchen will make your stay stress-free. The house includes ceiling fans, a dishwasher, coffee machine, large washing machine, clothes dryer and outdoor fridge. Free Wifi is also available.

We provide everything you need to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible, including board games and puzzles, bluetooth speaker, port-a-cot, tea, coffee, soaps and various other household items.

AMAZING MINJERRIBAH

Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah is famous for its pristine surf beaches, freshwater lakes, spectacular coastal gorges and rich Quandamooka culture.

An amazing variety of activities are available: swimming and surfing at the beautiful beaches, scuba diving on nearby Flinders Reef, walks along the cliff top trails at Point Lookout, exploring freshwater lakes, fishing, whale and dolphin watching, eco-tours, Indigenous cultural tours, and of course, relaxing!

POINTS TO NOTE

Please be aware that Stradbroke Island is only accessible by vehicle or passenger ferry. In busy periods, such as school holidays, it is advisable to book your vehicle ferry early.

This property is located in a quiet residential street. Out of respect to our neighbours, we do not allow parties. Complaints about excessive noise and offensive or unruly behaviour will be referred to the local police.

This house is not available to rent by schoolies or pre-schoolies. Guests must be over the age of 18 or be accompanied by a parent or guardian. When minors are present, the parent or guardian must also be staying at the house for the entire duration of the reservation. Failure to comply will result in immediate eviction without refund.

Perfect Island holiday

Awesome location, great little beach house. Very relaxed feel, felt like a home away from home for our family of 5. Toilet being located just outside in laundry might have been tricky with younger kids, but no issues for us. A few little things needing some love but what I would expect for a beach house. Hosts were great, easy to communicate with, responsive and very helpful. Thanks for having us.

Perfect Beach Shack in great location

We loved our stay at the Straddie beach shack! Super convenient locatio, close to Deadman's, Cylinder and Frenchman's, and a stone's throw from Bob's convenience store. The house is cosy and comfortable, beautifully decorated and thoughtfully stocked with everything you could possibly need - particularly in the kitchen. We made use of the huge BBQ, and had lovely lazy afternoons lounging in the hammock in the back yard. Would not hesitate to recommend!

Straddie classic

A super cute original beach house - well appointed, very comfortable and great location. We especially loved the back patio looking onto a lovely tropical oasis, complete with visiting kangaroo! And the position is perfect - a short stroll to beautiful Deadman’s but also close to Cylinder, Frenchies, Home and Main. Having the supermarket and pub so close means we did not have to use our car at all. We’ll be back!

The property was advertised as 2 bathrooms There is only a shower and hand basin inside and the only toilet is outside in the laundry … not what we expected for the price No curtains in the 3rd bedroom and no ceiling fan in that room either Outside gardens and yard are very rough Nice shack but really not worth the money compared to other properties

Straddie Classic Get-a-way !!

A traditional beach holiday home, with a stylish touch. Great location, easy walking distance to Cylinder beach and the Point Lookout walk. We were delighted to see whales, dolphins, turtles at this time of year. The perfect Straddie getaway

You can't help but relax into the Straddie vibe at Katy's place. An original 50s beach shack, it looks simple on the outside, but inside is a beautifully furnished and comfortable home away from home, with everything you could want for an enjoyable stay. The beds are really comfortable (something I often struggle to find in holiday homes), the kitchen is really well equipped and there are plenty of options to keep active adults, teenagers and kids entertained. And for those more interested in relaxing, there is a hammock and a beautiful day bed out the back and plenty of wildlife around. One of the best things is the location. Once we arrived we didn't take the car out except to go 4wding. It's an easy walk to all of the beaches, the gorge walk, the Straddie hotel and a range of cafes and takeaway places. And the local foodworks is just across the road! So no need to worry about bringing too much with you. Thanks Katy for a wonderful stay. We'll definitely be back.

Relaxed beach weekend

The house is homely, spacious and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well appointed - a cook's delight! Beaches and the shop are easily accessible. We really enjoyed our stay at Katy's and wish we could have stayed longer. If you're lucky, you may spot a kangaroo in the garden!

The perfect getaway!

Loved our time away! This house is in the perfect location - close to everything but so quiet and peaceful. Right across the road from the shops, 1 minute walk from the bus stop, 5 minute walk to the most beautiful beach! Super comfortable and cozy and it had everything we needed. So cool and convenient

The host has thought of everything. We travel to Straddie a lot, this is the most conveniently situated house we have ever booked. Four minutes walk to Deadman’s beach and less than 10 minutes to all the best beaches, so we could always find a protected spot, regardless of wind. And the shops and pub are a short stroll as well. The house is a classic, groovy beach pad, it has everything you need to make your stay stress free. This is our new favourite. Already looking for dates to stay again.
