About this property
Why rent a brick and glass box when you can step back in time to the late 1800s?
NOTE: You must agree to all terms listed in the GRG link in the Policies->House Rules section below BEFORE booking. Some guests have not done so and upon arriving were surprised to know they needed to bring their own bed linens, towels, etc. I can provide such items for a nominal fee but it's best you bring them yourself. If desired, please visit my Cottages in Canada dot com site (navigate to Brockville page as I can't give URL here) for more info.
Welcome and thanks for visiting my page! The river is a walk of less than 4 min south. Just over a staggering 2000 sq ft (this does not include the basement which is off limits), the VV is ideal for large groups. It is also a great choice for your vacation destination. This townhouse has all the coziness of a cottage with friendly neighbours ... one of which is MYSELF! ;o) How many STR properties can claim that? Situated in the heart of Brockville's historical district, you will be immersed in the architectural splendour of the 1800s! Leave your car in the driveway as you walk to all the amazing amenities this world-renowned Thousand Islands city has to offer.
Your visit will begin with a smile as you read the metal plate on the front door. No, I won't tell you what it says as it's more fun to find that out when you get here! Once inside you will bask in the majesty of 19th century England with soaring 11ft ceilings and regal features. Many rooms have chandeliers and exquisite woodworking with ginger breading, rosettes, wainscotting etc being evident throughout. Built in 1884 (ie horse-drawn wagons brought the lumber, iron and stone used to build it!), this is a house Charles Dickens himself would have been proud to call home! Most of the furniture is period accurate and reflect the stylings seen on YouTube channels like "This House". Don't be fooled though! You will get the best of both worlds as you enjoy the wi-fi and 55" TV (with 7.1 surround sound stereo) along with other modern conveniences like a fully equipped kitchen.
Grab the baskets from the front coat closet and take them across the street for a picnic in the park! Even if you don't, the east side of the house looks out onto that space's beautiful trees with the sun shining through them in the mornings. Sit in peace on the balcony amid the front yard trees with sour cherry-laden branches or relax on the wood deck.
Even if you don't stay at the VV, please consider us for your next visit and enjoy your stay in the Thousand Islands area!
