We enjoyed one of the coolest Januaries on record in this cozy, comfortable two-story home. Throughout the month, the owner was very responsive to questions about house issues. The home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac, in the historic Gruene district. We enjoyed exploring nearby attractions, always returning to the comfort of our VRBO rental. Highly recommended!
My husband and I spent 5 weeks at this house as "Winter Texans". It was nice to have the ample space for this long stay. The house was decorated and furnished nicely. We had no issues with the cleanliness of the house. Use of the garage was a nice perk. The location was ideal to walk the half mile to the entertainment and restaurants in Gruene, especially on weekends when it's hard find parking. We prepared most of your meals at home. The kitchen was nice size with good appliances. The HEB Grocery was very easy to drive to for all our needs. Other stores like Target and Best Buy were close as well. We enjoyed a few meals out: Grist Mill, Mozies and Inferno's Pizza all in walking distance. Buttermilk Restaurant and Naegelin German Bakery for breakfast a few times. Even though the weather was cold by Texas standards, my husband was able to golf several times at Landa Park Golf Course which was a few minutes away. We both enjoyed the private backyard which had nice privacy fencing around it. We did make a few short-day trips to San Marcos, Wimberly and Natural Bridge Caverns. This house was ideal for visiting the area. The owner of the house is local and easy to communicate with if have any questions or concerns.

Long term rental
We stayed here while our home was under construction as we live in NB already. The house was cleanish when we checked in as long as you don’t mind animal hair & the fridge smelling of mildew. My son has some allergies to pet hair and it was an issue until I deep cleaned the floors under furniture etc. For the time that we stayed in the home we had at least 7-10 notifications of workers coming and going to and from the house during the day while my children where there. Also, the home owners coming to the house to get personal items they needed or had forgot made it feel invasive. The amount of alarms that went off because of the fridge, ac, front door, or back door was a bit much as well. Once we checked out and got back to our home, we were asked about multiple items such as pillows, linen, blankets, teddy bear & a toilet brush cleaner that they insisted we took. After about a week of back and forth letting them know we did not take their belongings I received a message letting me know they had forgotten they had move those items. Moving forward, I would say if you are renting a long term it should not have animal hair unless stated you allow animals, I would not schedule repairs on the home when you have guests, double check all batteries and alarms for your systems in place & lastly I would be 100% sure before accusing your guest of taking your old linen.

Hi Stephanie, we take it seriously when guests let us know that we missed the mark, and after sending your feedback to the homeowner, they’d like to share the following:- We understand the concern about pet hair, particularly with your son's allergies. The cleaning team was instructed to ensure the home was thoroughly cleaned prior to your stay, but they are reviewing this to ensure it’s not an issue for future guests.- We were never made aware of pet hair inside the home but would have gladly sent the cleaning team back if notified during your stay.- We’ve asked the cleaning team to inspect the fridge for any potential odor and address it for future stays.- While a few contractors were scheduled for necessary exterior repairs, they never needed access to the interior, but we regret any disruption this may have caused.- The security and fridge alerts were related to the refrigerator door being left open, and we disabled the sensor to avoid further alarms during your stay.- We only entered the garage once to retrieve a personal item and did notify you in advance, as outlined in the house rules.- Regarding the inquiry about the missing items. We maintain a detailed inventory of our property and appreciate your understanding as we reviewed our records. After sorting through everything, we were able to locate some items that had been misplaced. We sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused. Additionally, we want to express our gratitude for returning the items that were accidentally packed with your belongings. We truly appreciate your cooperation, and we hope to welcome you back in the future! We appreciate your feedback so we can continue to improve and help this homeowner provide guests with the 5-star service they are known for. Thanks again, and we hope that you keep us in mind for your future travels!
