Experience “Maurice au Mer” on the southside of Prominence, a gem among the Beaches of South Walton’s (think Seaside or Rosemary without the crowds) … located by WaterSound on the eastern end of 30A, between Seagrove, Seaside and Watercolor on one side and Alys Beach, Seacrest and Rosemary Beach on the other. This 5 bedroom, 4 1/2 bath home is on a large, private corner lot three blocks behind the retail hotspot The Big Chill (formerly The Hub), home to restaurants, entertainment and shopping - close enough to the action but far enough away so you don’t hear any noise. One of a limited number of floor plans that are the most highly sought-after ones in the neighborhood!

The 2-story, 2800 sq. ft. luxury home is not your typical beach house and offers details and amenities you would expect at home. Comfortably sleeps 11; ideal for two families or an extended family to vacation together.

The Big Chill (formerly Hub 30a) – The Town Center of Prominence, known as The Big Chill (formerly The Hub), offers entertainment and shopping at your doorstep. The heart of space is a large covered event pavilion with a 25 feet cinema screen to enjoy movies, sporting events and concerts. Check out upcoming events at www.thebigchill.com.

Beach Access – There are two beach access points approximately one half mile on either side of the neighborhood. The beach access at Deer Lake State Park is breathtaking and offers plenty of parking; walk a long boardwalk over the dunes to the pristine beach below. Golf Cart rentals available through one neighborhood authorized provider, 30A Gulf Carts, 850-502-9325.

Everything you need is within the Town of Prominence but if you want more, venture 15 minutes down the street to check out the nearby communities of Rosemary Beach, Seacrest, Alys Beach, Seaside and Watercolor.

Booking Requirements:

Age requirement policy: One (1) parent or guardian over the age of 35 must be present and staying in the property for every three (3) guests between the ages of 15 and 25.

Dog Friendly: This property is dog friendly for dogs over the age of six months with up-to-date shot records. Written permission must be obtained. Only one dog per stay. A $250 non-refundable pet fee applies.

The property is top notch and owners are delightful. Highly recommend to those who like the peaceful and quiet neighborhood vibe yet still only a few blocks from family entertainment. You have a 5-10 minute bike ride to good eats, Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach to the east and Seaside to the west. Looking forward to next year.

This is our 4th stay at Maurice Au Mer, and it was a wonderful stay! We celebrated our parents' 50th Anniversary with a family trip, and we had a comfortable amount of room for our 3 families. Communication was exceptional and the written instructions were very helpful. Check in and check out was so convenient, and the beach toys, chairs, and bikes were so nice to use and not have to pack. The kitchen was equipped to make family meals, and The Big Chill had great variety when we wanted to eat out.We would definitely come back to this home away from home again and again!

This was our last big summer trip to celebrate our recent high school and college graduates. We had the most wonderful time making memories with our family. The house was the perfect location, beautiful and clean. I wish we could’ve stayed longer! Our 4 year old miniature Dachshund was so happy to be able to come with us. A Wonderful Place for Family Time

We really enjoyed our stay! Our adult children and spouses joined my husband and me for a week full of conversation and activities. There are lots of things to do in the immediate area. We had a couple of days of rain, but the house was perfect with its screened in porch where we just spend time catching up, snacking and drinking, and working on puzzles. It was a GREAT time!

Friend Beach Trip

Our group of 10 and 2 pups had a wonderful stay. The house was very clean and well kept. The owners are very thoughtful. We had everything we could have needed from a crate for our pup to beach towels. The neighborhood was very family friendly. And there was a nearby dog walking area with bags and a trash can near the pool.

Our 2nd time here! Our family of 6 adults, 3 children, 1 infant and 2 pups had another memorable vacation. It’s just a perfect place - quiet neighborhood, access to big chill, 2 pools. And safe for kids to bike ride and play. The porch is a perfect spot. Plenty of beach equipment to take to the sand a golf cart ride away. This rental was ideal for our mix of families. The area is pretty new and a lot of the surrounding was still under construction (summer 2019) but that meant that we could hang out and relax without all the big crowds. 10/10 would rent again in a heartbeat

Everything was perfect. Our family loved the location and all fun activities at the Big Chill. Several different beaches are close by. The owners provided everything you could need from precise instructions, bikes, beach toys, beach chairs, TV’s in every bedroom, Bose speaker and a well equipped kitchen. Well laid out home so everyone had their space when they needed a nap from the beach. We’re already planning to come back.

Fun family vacation

We had 8 adults for a week in January. We had plenty of room to all hang out together, or to split up for some quiet time. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed cooking. We loved the Big Chill right down the street, and we had several meals there as well as a game night one evening. The bikes were anbig plus for an easy way to get to the beach. Everyone agreed it was a fun week!

We live in Atlanta and after vacationing in the Santa Rosa area for many years starting around 1990, we finally purchased a 2nd home there in 2016 with the goal of renting it and also enjoying it ourselves for several months during the off-season (if there is one!).

Why they chose this property

There are many beautiful neighborhoods along 30A but we fell in love with Prominence when we came down to look at a home in another neighborhood that was for sale. We loved the anchor of The Big Chill, the vibe of the neighborhood and the open and airy feel of the homes. We named our home "Maurice au Mer" as a shout out to our family name's French Canadian roots even though it's not grammatically correct (in fact, my husband's middle name in honor of his father, is the rhyming Omer).
