Host was AMAZING to deal with. Very flexible with our dates (ESPECIALLY at the last minute) when things kept changing with our arrival/departure dates. Definitely did NOT smell like cat urine!

We could not even stay there. The smell of cat urine was so bad, we had to leave.Check in was supposed to be at 3, we didn't get in until 10pm to check the place out.We checked it out and the smell was so bad, we had to get hotel rooms in a different city

This guest didn’t not phone VRBO when he thought it smelled like cat urine and he couldn’t stay there. First he said there were four of them that were allergic . I told him why would he book a place if it was pet friendly.? Especially if 4 out of 5 of them were allergic to cats. You would think they would ask first before booking . He said I didn’t have it posted anywhere. I do The first paragraph . I invite guest to bring their fur babies. Then he told me it was the smell . I told him it was not cat urine I sprayed a room sanitizer . The scent was Basil and Lime. He could have just opened a window. Now he says I should have told them to open the window. Common sense. I know it didn’t smell like cat urine. He saw my cat and assumed that was the smell. I lost my phone that night. and had to get a new one today. I could not communicate with him until today Monday. March 2 . He is calling me a liar and then expects , me to refund his money. Why didn’t he talk to VRBO that same day.

A spacious and beautiful country retreat, a short walk to the lake. Four of us were here for the Gimli Film Festival and this cottage was an excellent base camp. Owner communicated well with us. Cottage is well equipped and the several decks are delightful options for dining. Highly recommend this place and this Host!

Sadly so terrible! Dirty place, contaminated water and a rude host!

The location is wonderful, great natural light and nice decks and yard! However the home was dirty upon check in, so we spent a while cleaning it. Then the water was black and smelled of sulfur. The strong smell was giving us a headache and making us nauseous. We politely expressed concerns to the host who was offended and very rude. We eventually had to check out after a day because the water still would not run clear. The host would not refund us our money and was not the kind person we initially thought she was. We got sick as a result of the contaminated water, including my 6 month old son. But the host still did nothing to remediate the situation, she never even said the words “I’m sorry” once! Not the type of experience you hope for when staying in friendly Manitoba! There are other places to rent in the area, I strongly recommend renting elsewhere for your stay! Rent from someone who will care about your well-being! Sadly Annette did not even care about even a 6 month olds well-being.

I am very upset that the guests were not happy. The first issue was the water and I called a plumber right away. He told me to let the water run. I did inform the quest to do that. I offered her a complete refund that day. She didn’t want to leave. Unfortunately the guests did not see the 5gallon drinking water in the kitchen for their use. Everyone knows if you are from Manitoba in Lake country you do not drink the well water especially this year with the water table being so high. I was not offended that there was a problem with the water. I was offended that the guest thought my place was dirty. I spent the day before they were arriving cleaning floors and windows . I sprayed disinfectant on every surface.. I am a super host with Airbnb. I am well aware of the protocol for the standard of cleanliness we all expect and deserve. I didn’t even talk to the guest . It was by text. I wanted to deal with the matter at hand the water. I had a plumber go down there and it was the hot water tank. It was fixed in a day. The water was not contaminated. Hot water tanks do stop working. I had the water checked for contamination . It is fine. I take pride looking after my guest. I just wanted the guest not be inconvenienced by this problem that is why I offered a full refund that day not two days later. The reservations was for Friday but they changed it to Saturday and they left on Monday. There are policies in place by VRBO for refunds to protect the hostess and guest. I hope if you took the time to read my take on this you will not judge me from one bad review. All my other reviews are 4 and 5.

I love to host because I love to travel . I love meeting people from all over the world . I know I would rather stay in some one’s home when I am travelling than a hotel. It is so much more personal. You get to see how other people live. I also live with a Mane Coon. If you have allergies please don’t book my place. The place will be clean but I can’t guarantee there won’t be any evidence that a cat was there. It would be better to rent a place that doesn’t allow pets. Thank you for reading about my home.

Why they chose this property

I choose this area because I love being by water. It is so beautiful and peaceful. It is not far from Winnipeg , an hour. Selkirk is 1/2 hour and Winnipeg Beach is 3 minutes and Gimli is 15 minutes. There are beautiful sunsets and beautiful sunrises .

What makes this property unique

It is on a corner lot so there is no one blocking your view of the sunset. There is an open field and the railway tracks. It is very private but yet close. It is only 4 houses away from the lake. The sun comes flowing in all directions. There is a lot of light and big windows facing south and west.
