This off-grid cabin is powered by solar which will run the lighting, small fans, charging devices, etc.. There is no refrigerator so please bring a cooler. There is an indoor regulated propane stovetop and a new gas barbeque outside giving you flexibility for preparing meals. We provide potable water for drinking and cooking and there is a gravity flow shower/outdoor sink (not operational during freezing temps) The outhouse is in close proximity.
The 250 sq. ft. cabin comes equipped with a queen sized bed, kitchenette, dining table, and reclining sofa. We've stocked it with most items you'll need for cooking including dishes, pots, pans, utensils, oven mitts, cutting board, glasses, mugs, etc. Bring your food, beverages and a cooler. The kitchenette is equipped with tea towels, dishcloths and scrubbies. We provide the mattress pad for the bed, please bring your own (queen size) bedding and pillows. We have a single cot available if there's a third person in your group.
There is a TV/DVD combo in the cabin and a small selection of DVD's at the property's common area for guests to access. There is no Wi-Fi although cellular service is good.
The multitude of trails (over 10 km of them) make for interesting hikes or bike riding. We're pet friendly, so bring your dog.
A couple of pre-printed scavenger hunts provide plenty of reason to look up in the trees and down on the ground to locate various hidden treasures, and have proven quite popular. The pond area is a pleasant place to explore. Speaking of exploring, you may want to pack rubber boots and bug spray due to the wet season we've had!
Depending on the time of year, there are several species of naturally occurring wildflowers visible along the well groomed trails such as Indian Paintbrush, Tiger Lilies, Marsh Marigolds, Wild Iris, Milkweed, Black-Eyed Susans, and more. The Saskatoon berries are plentiful in the early summer and the forest will takes on a red tinge later in the summer when the Cranberries emerge.
Though the rental cabins have their own lawn chairs, tables and firepits, there is a common area where we provide outdoor games, large fire-pit and seating areas.
We have a second cabin Micro Cabin in the Secluded Forest. If your date is booked, try it. Or better yet, get your friends together and book both!

The Blue Owl Tiny House was quite lovely, clean and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the trails throughout the property. They were well marked and had whimsical touches that made it even more enjoyable!
This was our 4th year in a row staying here for July long with our 5 year old..and we will be back next year as well! We love this little piece of heaven!
Perfect little cabin for a getaway. The owners met me at the hwy the first night to help with directions. The owners responded quickly to any questions and went above and beyond always. Cutest decor and lovely privacy. Highly recommended.
This was a very well kept and cozy cabin for a weekend stay. Nice and quiet location with lots of paths, and close to the town of Gimli for a little visiting. Great experience overall!
The off grid cabin was very clean and the property was fantastic. The trails were well groomed, and the scavenger hunt was a fun activity. The owners were very good, friendly and helpful.
Beautiful location away from noise. Very peaceful setting. The Host's, Sharon and Bob are fantastic host's. This was our third visit and we will be back again. The work they puti to the cabin is evident.
My husband and I, our 5yo daughter, and our big dog enjoyed a few blissful nights in the Blue Owl house. It was wonderful. It was as close to camping as you can get, without sleeping in a tent. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the trails around the property were fun. We liked it so much we will plan to be back next year!
A must see to get away from the city and enjoy the sounds of nature and minimalistic living.
The dogs truly are at peace here and get the best nights sleep by walking the trails all day long.

Always nice to meet nice people. Enjoy what's left of summer!
This place was soooo cute and cozy. Cabin had everything I needed for a little R&R. The outhouse was the sweetest outhouse I ever used - loved the ticking grandfather clock :) Bob and Sharon were super responsive and quick with anything I needed. The trails here are next level. I was planning to use this as a landing pad between beach days and town visits but ended up spending a whole day getting lost on the trails and doing the scavenger hunt. Can't recommend highly enough and will be back!

About the host
Hosted by Bob & Sharon
When the opportunity to purchase the "big land" behind our 5 acre home, we jumped on it! The additional 120 acres proved to be a blank canvas for us to paint our future upon it. We started carving trails into the forest, naming the trails and erecting cute little signs to differentiate them from one another. Naming and painting the signs over a glass of wine became a game in itself. We cleared a "common area" installed an outhouse, large firepit, solar lighting strung up in the trees and a small stage for live music. It didn't take long for friends and family to encourage us to start sharing this little piece of heaven with others. We hosted a couple birthday party groups and had a "live band" play a concert in our park. The mold was cast!
Why they chose this property
As time went on we recognized we needed to provide places for people to stay longer. We carved out a couple overnight campsites and equipped them with firepits, picnic tables and solar lighting. The first tiny house came about almost by accident. We had extra lumber leftover from building our new garage...the next thing you know we're building the micro-cabin in our front yard, stealing ideas from DIY tv shows about tiny houses.
What makes this property unique
The micro-cabin was spared nothing. It was built with 2x6x10 foot spruce, spray foam insulated, functional windows, insulated door with sliding window for ventilation, steel roofing, CUB mini-wood stove and double-wall insulated chimney. Once moved to it's current location a brand new 460 watt/60 amp solar power system to power a few amenities. In keeping with the "off-grid" theme we managed to incorporate a filtered rain water collection system including hand-wash sink and gravity flow shower. Most people seem to get a kick out of it and it certainly helps cool you down on those hot days! An indoor regulated propane cooktop and gas barbeque outside gives our guests options for cooking. Of course there's a grated firepit for roasting marshmallows or huddling around while playing the ukelele.
Once the micro-cabin was completed, it became obvious we needed to share this space too. But how? After doing a bit of research we felt it may be time to join the VRBO Team. Before long, "The little space that could" attracted a steady stream of guests, excited entries were filling our guest-book and the VRBO reviews had us quickly climbing to rank of Premier Host. Many guests pointed out the clever use of space, the thoughtfully appointed acoutremonts and the serene forest setting. A full year passed when we realized a second cabin, one to accommodate a slightly larger group, would be beneficial. Here we grow again!
Then the second cabin, the Blue Owl Tiny House came along....
