About this property
Gorgeous Luxury North Scottsdale Estate!
Casa del Sol. Large and Sprawling Territorial Estate on 2 acres with 5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths.
No Parties, No Weddings, No Events!
Casa del Sol, House of the Sun;
Gates crafted of old wood and saguaro ribs welcome you to a shaded courtyard embracing a quintessential Southwest territorial masterpiece, set lightly upon two lush Sonoran Desert acres. This is Casa del Sol, the house of the sun. This special place seems miles from anywhere, yet it’s centrally located in the heart of north Scottsdale, minutes from major event venues, restaurants, shopping, art fairs, golf and more.
Casa del Sol offers visual and sensual delights from the moment you enter. Be charmed by the curvy snake that opens the pivoting front door. Be amazed by walls of windows that frame the Sonoran Desert by day offering views of the ancient and famous landmarks of Pinnacle Peak and Camelback Mountain. As the day wanes, be awed by serene vistas and ever-changing purple and red hues of the rugged McDowell Mountains against a cerulean sky.
Architecture and Design. This dwelling reflects the true Southwest, a delightful mix of Spanish roots, Moroccan details, American Indian lore and the cowboy culture of the American West. Yet, the translation is not confined to the traditional. Full round pine viga poles are interspersed inside and outside and provide the traditional structural framework, but the beautiful wood latilla ceiling is made from reclaimed grapevine stakes. Flagstone floors provide a timeless foundation and the artist-painted wall hues change throughout the light of the day, offering an intriguing background for fine art, folk art and print collections.
The décor is an eclectic combination of Southwest-traditional with hand-hewn woods, embossed metals on ethnic carved cabinets, woven textiles, and colorful rugs, peppered with contemporary whimsy to keep you in a vacation state of mind.
The Great Room. The Great Room is the central hub of the home's primary activities. The fully-equipped kitchen is adjacent to the great room, steps way from either the dining room or the breakfast room.
The Morrocan Bar. The Morrocan bar beckons after a long day lounging in the sun, sparkling like a jewel with pendant lights and silver and gold adorned cabinetry.
The Bunk Room. The Bunk Room is a fun, contemporary-designed bedroom splashed in colors of vibrant aqua, coral, lime and purple. Sleeps 3 with an en suite bathroom and walk-in closet.
The Santa Fe Room. The Santa Fe Room is a bedroom with a soothing palette of varying shades of blues and greens. Decorated with found objects, fine and folk art from the Southwest, it’s grounded in earthy, natural comforts. There’s a conversation area, walk-in closet and en suite bathroom.
The Game Room. A large Game Room, rustic Southwest in design with reclaimed barn wood siding is perfect to take in a game of pool or a lively conversation in this comfortable laid-back room with a wood-burning fireplace central to the large adjacent patio.
The Cowboy Bar. An authentic Cowboy Bar reminds you that you are in Arizona, in the heart of the great American West.
Theater & Media Room. A Hollywood style home theater, complete with old movie posters and elevated individual seating for 12 with a huge Plasma TV.
The Game Room. Just across the Foyer from the front entrance is the Game Room, a beautiful space enveloped in the serenity of the desert views. Come enjoy cards or games with friends while enjoying the floor to ceiling windows!
The Library. You’ll be drawn to the Library’s entrance doors, very tactile, fashioned by hand of old wood and embellished with rust clavos. Open the doors to a jewel-box room with built-in hand-scraped cedar cabinetry, a granite desk top, and bookshelves with interesting trinkets. Tucked away on the other side of the room is a twin bed for one lucky guest who will enjoy a view of Pinnacle Peak and the desert landscape.
The Master Suite welcomes with a Lounge, a cocoon space with collected folk art from around the world. Truly designed to escape, the Master Suite beckons with a soothing purple and violet palette, a contemporary canopy king-size bed, and a large stacked stone fireplace. The Master en suite is reminiscent of baths in Bali with a large soaking and jetted tub surrounded by a flagstone platform. An elaborate wood and metal screen plays with light and shadow. A private patio is perfect for morning coffee.
The Casita. A tiny house, unique to the Southwest has it's own entry door from the gated motor court. Inside, find charm with dark Spanish colonial, hand-carved armoire and king bed, a floor to ceiling stacked stone fireplace, a living area, dining area and kitchenette. Who doesn’t imagine living a simple and romantic life in a casita?
Outdoor spaces. Every room of this home is connected to the outdoors with glass doors open to several patios to enjoy the sunny climate.
Accommodations for 10 Guests. Casa del Sol sleeps 10 in private rooms, in real beds with high-thread count linens. All bedrooms except the Library have en suite baths, making this vacation home extremely desirable for groups.
