A little bit of luxury
We had just returned from four days on the Whanganui River and this was the luxury we craved! Beautifully clean with every amenity and appliance you can think of - plus a lovely spa to help with muscle recovery! Would highly recommend spending time here and hope to visit again.

Creating The Bavarian Chalet was a real labour of love, with many hours spent researching and designing one-off features for the chalet. For me, The Bavarian Chalet offers an idyllic haven from which to escape everyday life and create lasting memories.

I worked closely with a team of local craftsmen and a Danish-founded building company to create this traditional alpine chalet. Although it was a new build by design, our aim was to create a chalet with the feeling and warmth of a historic alpine cabin.
The benefit of starting from scratch with The Bavarian Chalet was that we were able to introduce unique features and design touches to enhance the European lodge feel. We used many reclaimed items to emphasise the uniqueness and redefine the luxury mountain experience
We initially built the chalet and designed it as our own secret getaway although we soon couldn’t resist sharing it with a few friends, and now our lovely guests. We hope that you fall for our alpine retreat as much as we have.
