Did not stay in the house - unsafe neighborhood

From the description, the rental sounded perfect for us. The reviews were also highly rated. As my family and I drove into the town of Carlsbad and then into the neighborhood where this rental is located we became worried and upset. We did not even venture into the rental. The entire neighborhood is run down. The houses surrounding this rental are falling apart, neglected and so”scary”. We ended up staying at the Townplace by Marriott. I contacted the Evolve team that runs this rental and they did not allow for a refund. They stated that they vet each property. That should include the area the rental is in. They stated that they only vet the rentals, not the area. I believe renters should feel safe in a rental. I had to pay for the rental and the hotel rooms that we had to get since we did not stay in the rental. Very disappointed. I have used VRBO for years and have never encountered this before.

Clean and Perfect location!

The property was exactly as advertised and was clean and easy to access. Not a lot of outdoor area but close to several parks/playgrounds so worked great. We stayed here several nights as we visited Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Park - we were close enough to visit those easily and in an area where we had easy access to anything we needed. House was clean and everything about check in and out were easy!

Great place to stay

We stayed here while on a business trip. The house is nicely decorated and very clean. It is central to town and we enjoyed the stay.

Great house

Very nice house & super clean! You can literally show up with only clothes to stay here. They provided shampoo, body wash, q-tips, cotton balls, hand soap & even laundry detergent. Beds were comfy & it was nice that there’s curtains in the bedroom so block out light.
