Carlsbad is located in the Chihuahuan Desert on the beautiful Pecos River at an elevation of 3,295 feet. The city, with its tree-lined streets, numerous public parks and recreation areas, including the municipal beach and greenway along Lake Carlsbad; originated as an oasis - "The Pearl on the Pecos." Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located eighteen miles southwest of the city, with Guadalupe Mountains National Park lying forty miles further southwest across the Texas border. Hiking, golfing and water recreation are just a few of the numerous activities to enjoy under the sunshine filled days in Carlsbad. Great schools, low crime and a friendly, small-town atmosphere also make Carlsbad a great place to live!

Infested with bed bugs, house stank of sewer gas and old mold. Sewer flies coming into house from holes in walls and floor. Unsafe electrical, bare wires and melted electrical sockets, piles of broken glass and sharp metal in back yard. Piles of trash in back room. 3ft deep hole to crawl space wide open in back of property where child can fall in. Owner obviously bought a crack house and installed 4 tvs and vinyl floor and is renting it out in unsafe condition. Whoever lists this property as safe for people, especially children should have legal actions taken against them.
The previous reviews are still pretty much accurate. However, i did not expect a top of the line, perfect cookie cutter house to spend one night. The A/C was on when we arrived and the house was already at a cool, comfortable temperature. The beds are all memory foam type mattresses which were extremely comfortable. Each room had their own TV and a there was a MASSIVE TV in the living room. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. The shower had great water pressure and had sufficient hot water for 2 teens and a dad to take decent showers. All in all a great place for the price to rest your head if you’re passing through.
Check in was smooth and easy, we had the code the day before sent to us so we were ready to go. All the host asked was for us to let them know when we left.
The house was very clean and the furnishings were cute and comfortable. The sheets smelled really clean like they’d just been washed. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Carlsbad Caverns or Guadalupe it was a great location to see both.

Cheapest option available
The bathroom had a hole in the wall that was filled with a Walmart shopping bag and missing trim, the toilet wasn't bolted down completely. Only one handle on the kitchen cabinets, the bathroom sink was incomplete with a hold still in counter top. Every lamp still has the cellophane cover on the shades. One of the beds had a broken head board and the fan was missing a blade. The place was hastily put together in what seemed to be last minute before we got there.

Not Ready for Occupancy
While the furnishings were cute, this property was not ready for occupancy. We arrived to find no window coverings on the windows in either bathroom, including the window in the actual shower! There was also no curtain on a front street-facing window. There were no drawer pulls installed in a bathroom, and only one of many installed in the kitchen. Only one bulb was in the multi-bulb kitchen light fixture. There was not a single towel rack or hook in either bathroom. The quick fix that had been attempted on the sectional couch fell apart immediately. I could go on.
The owner did send someone to put up window coverings on two of the windows, but stated that the other bathroom window "could not be seen" from other yards. I have pictures to prove that wrong.
My family rented this property to be together for our parents' funeral. The stress of dealing with the aforementioned issues was definitely not what I needed at that time. I'll make sure to check out "new listings" on VRBO much more carefully next time, or avoid them altogether!

Not ready for prime time
A 3 bedroom house with 2 bowls , 4 plates , no glasses , several coffee cups and a coffee maker that takes 10-15 minutes to make coffee. And a few pieces of silverware. For $250.00 at the local Walmart the kitchen can be upgraded.
The TV in each bedroom was nice.
The backyard had broken glass and other debris. Dont let children in the back yard.
