Danville Men’s Retreat

5 stars. Pictures don’t do it justice. It’s bigger than we imagined and Danville has so much to offer. We thank the Mansion for the life long memories. Considering the age of the Mansion it really a sight to behold and take in / enjoy.

Time capsule

This place is amazing to explore every nook and cranny, it crazy huge and fascinating. Although this was luxury 100 years ago its sorta roughing it by todays standards. Hot water is at a premium and master not exactly a master with no usable shower. Everyone loved it the first day but after coming home all sweaty after a long day at VIR we just wanted a good shower and good AC... Beds were super comfy and many choices but needed some variety of pillows. Overall very cool and priced nicely.

Great time at a unique property

Danville is not necessarily a vacation hotspot. However, in a random stroke of luck I found the listing and went for it. The house is beautiful and unique and in some ways quirky. Accommodations were simple for a large group because of all the comfortable sleeping options. The entire place is clean and has anything you would need for a multi-day stay. Weather was bad for our trip and it mattered not. Theater, board games, foosball, pool or just hanging out and drinking...all was available. We had a great time and appreciate the opportunity to stay at such a unique place.

Beautiful Mansion needs TLC

Property was Gorgeous at one time. Not now, smelled moldy soon as we arrived. Cobwebs in a lot of windows. Very well supplied. Pool not really good. Chair cushions by pool full of mildew and mold. Great parking Barbeque grill disgusting. We made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves. The area didn't offer a lot to do. If you are handicapped not for you. Quiet and Spacious.

Mansion review

It is an old house, as stated in the ad. Some rooms had bad smell, especially the BR in the basement. Lots of room for everything. We had minor plumbing and electrical issues. Some of the bedrooms were inter connected, had privacy issues. Disappointed with the pool, as it was not clean despite the efforts from two people who came to clean it. Overall it was good!

Nice historic home

We had a great stay. Unfortunately it rained most of the week so rare use of the pool. Had space for everyone. Had some trouble with check in, but owner responded quickly. There are some "old house" issues as per the description--breaker in the main suite kept tripping which we could remedy(though took awhile since the junction box for that was on the 2nd floor). Then on the last day on wall in the kitchen tripped and we couldn't find that one, so had to move the coffee pot to another room. The 1st major issue was the mattresses. They were horrible-- sunken and lumpy and very uncomfortable. And there is no excuse for that, it has nothing to do with being a historic home, although it is possible these were the original mattresses.,they were that bad ( except in the master suite,those were fine).The biggest issue was the leaking in the basement. The stench of mold was so strong, we weren't able to use the basement bedroom and bathroom at all. Some people ( mostly kids) could tolerate long enough to be in the game room, but my throat would burn just walking through the hall. The 2nd refrigerator I don't think was advertised, but was nice to have, though even at the coldest setting the freezer couldn't freeze water. I also don't think the commercial ice maker was advertised, which was really convenient especially in summer! I think this property has good potential, just hope the owners out in the investment because the house really is beautiful.

Hey Kristen, As always, I'm available for guests via call or text anytime to help resolve any issues. I would've been happy to help you find the breaker for the kitchen if I had known. I'm sad to hear you didn't find the mattresses comfortable. They are definitely not from the late-1800s as they were just purchased in July of 2022 before we opened this property. Perhaps a slat underneath is broken and we just need to address that. I'll send my maintenance team out to check under every bed this week. Thanks for staying at Mansion on Main Danville.
