The cottage had a perfect location and the facilities were acceptable, but it was not clean. More importantly, the beds had bedbugs. My wife, in particular, is still struggling with the bites.
3.5/5 stars. I will say that I would without a doubt stay here again. The host was easily accessible, the place is VERY spacious (the photos dont do justice). The kitchen was well stocked, even had cream in the fridge for us. The hot tub was nice, we didn't end up using the sauna (accessed through a bedroom)3 of the bdrms have their own ensuite bath, and there is a 2 pc. on the main floor. The smallest bdrm does not have access to a full bath and so my friend needed to go through someone elses room to use the shower. That bdrm is also located on the second floor, so you would have to go downstairs to get to the bathroom in the night. The stairs are VERY loud, there are glass panels that shake when you walk up and down. Its very open concept and no rugs so sound really carries. The walls are quite thin so I could hear conversations from my room on the main level from from the second floor. There was a lot of noise from the wind and the windows creaking. The windows could use a good cleaning, and potentially replacing. We stayed in October and there were so many bugs inside (including wasps), dead and alive. Its an old building and the bathroom fixtures could use updating, they are rusty and look dirty, thought I'm sure they were cleaned. I wear slippers (indoor only) and they were black on the bottom from walking on the floor.Another reviewer mentioned bed bugs - there is no evidence of this and the host was very responsive when I asked about it prior to coming.
