I had an amazing time at this rental home. We went to celebrate my son’s 5th birthday and he truly enjoyed the experience. We went fishing, made s’mores, camped outside and much more. We plan on coming back for sure!

We had such a great time. The house was perfect for myself, my husband and 2 young adult sons…it was so peaceful and private…the road was great for walking our pup and we all enjoyed sitting by and wadding in the creek…all the games in the shed were fun and the hot tub was very relaxing…within 40 minutes of the Grayson Highlands which was the reason for our visit…

Beautiful property! We enjoyed our stay. House was stocked with everything we needed and more. Beds were comfortable and the views amazing! We enjoyed trout fishing and sitting by the fire. We shopped, visited Grayson Highlands State Park, Mount Jefferson Natural Area, New River State Park and Grandfather Mountain. We fished and many lakes and creeks in Lansing, West Jefferson and Blowing Rock. We shopped in Boone and West Jefferson and visited Ashe County cheese and Mast General Store. What a fun week!!!

Recent Stay

Overall the stay was nice and clean. Upon moving some furniture for game night and movies we noticed a lot of dirt and debris under and around the sofas. The driveway was a nightmare getting up to the house and parking, backing out was very dangerous, there was limited car control forward or in reverse. The 1.5 miles driving to the house, also unsteady and washed out. Luckily, we were in a 4-wheel drive and we were able to make it.

Thank you for the review! I am so sorry to hear the cleaning was not up to the Stay Blue Ridge standard. We will make housekeeping aware of these issues. We recommend 4WD/AWD vehicles, although it is not necessary unless there is inclement weather.

Peace and relaxation

Incredible. The kids never got bored. They floated in the river/stream. Played tons of ping pong and basketball. Roasted marshmallows on the fire-pit. Caught lots of trout and crayfish. Dips in the hot tub. The place was clean. Kitchen wasn’t as stocked with dishes etc as most places I’ve stayed, but it had enough. Be aware, there’s a long bumpy dirt road to this property. You can get to the house with most vehicles I think but without 4 wheel drive, you won’t get up the driveway to park next to the house. And it’s a steep walk up from where you can park down below. Just a heads up for elderly or people with some physical challenges.

Wonderful stay!Pictures do not do this property justice. The house was very clean! Plenty of dishes and cookware. I loved that the house had lots of storage. The kitchen had a pantry and plenty of closet space for your clothes. We have stayed in tons of VRBOs and this is the first one flying an America flag! We loved seeing the flag fly! The shed was fun and we enjoyed the games. Hubby had a happy time catching trout! The shed did include poles and tackle. We didn’t need to leave but we did enjoy wandering around downtown West Jefferson! Tons of shopping and the town was decorated for fall like a Lifetime movie! Everyone we met was so nice.We did the “unseenpass” UTV experience and that was so cool! We didn’t the 4 or 5 hour Peak Experience tour and it was perfect! This house was lovely and cozy despite being so spacious. Hot tub was enjoyed very much!I’d love to come back again!!!

We were a family of 5, and we had a 4yo. Overall we had a wonderful stay. The property is pretty much isolated except for the people next to it who drive thru the property every morning and afternoon. They were nice people though and had ponies which they let us see and pet. The rough road from the main road to the property takes about 10-12min drive and might be a tad difficult and scary for some. The steep driveway going to the house was also a bit tricky so we parked one of our vehicles down where the creek is. The commode in the masters bath was leaking and bec we went on a holiday, it was almost towards the end of our stay when they offered to send someone to fix it. There were pans in the cabinets that were unclean and the floors were a bit dusty. We were informed ahead of time that the dishwasher was down and they were nice enough to provide us with disposable plates and cups and utensils to use. They always reply fast except during the holiday and weekend. The stay gave our family the much needed alone time to bond and be together. We all had fun fishing and staying out in the creek all day and the games in the game room provided us with more stuff to do.

The refrigerator in the kitchen didnt work. Found out after we had put our food in it. Had to use the refrigerator in the basement. So had to go up and down and up and down the stairs just to be able to prepare any food. The dishwasher was broken and had 6 inches of backed up stank water at the bottom that had to have been like that for weeks from the looks of it. I had to scoop the water out so it would not make the kitchen super stinky. When we got there on the porch there were cigarette butts and potato chips on it and looked like it had been months since swept, one of the outdoor mats was covered in rat turd. The masterbed room mattress was a joke. The porch will have to be replaced within a year for safety reason. It had a ton of soft wet wood places. I am requesting a partial refund due to these major issues

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sincerely sorry your stay didn't meet expectations. Unfortunately, several issues occurred at once, which is not typical for this home. Since your visit, both the refrigerator and dishwasher have been replaced. We've also addressed the exterior housekeeping concerns with our team and continued working with the homeowner on the deck. Several boards have been replaced, and while the new boards don't match the older ones yet, they'll blend much better as they weather naturally over time. This is a special property with excellent fishing, easy water access, and plenty of room for families to gather and enjoy time together. We're disappointed your visit didn't reflect the experience we strive to provide and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.
