A fabulous and distinctive old property. Very spacious, with 4m high ceilings in parts. Some lovely interior design touches - beautiful floor tiles, nice art pieces. A great sized kitchen, helpfully stocked with lots of basics (oil, vinegars, salt, cling film etc). A nice, modest rain water-filled pool that the kids enjoyed splashing in. The immediate area/location is nothing special and it’s a 20 minute walk to the centre of town but there’s a cute local square just under 10 mins away. One of the most characterful properties we’ve rented.
The location was great for walking to parks, stores and restaurants and pubs. Meanwhile, back at the house, the accommodations were comfortable with spaces to relax inside and out. And a pool to enjoy late afternoon before showering and changing for dinner. It was an amazing stay. Uxmal was also well worth the trip.
Pleasant two week stay here. Spacious, clean, all the basic necessities. Outdoor courtyard with pool was a nice touch. Market and small grocery store was a short walk away. Restaurant areas a little farther, about 15 minutes, but surrounding area is safe, no worries. Great Uber service if you prefer not to walk somewhere.
My husband and I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed the house with the space configuration working out really nicely. We are walkers and were easily able to walk to the local markets, downtown and the new restaurant area on Calle 47. We also rented a car so we could do day trips to the cenotes and see the pyramids, including Chichen Itza. It was unseasonably hot but the house has lovely high ceilings which helped keep the house cooler, the air conditioning in the bedroom worked great and the fans that were provided were wonderful. The owners were very responsive and extremely helpful.
Having this sweet little house to wake up in and come home to was the perfect way to spend 8 days in Merida. Quiet, private, pretty and comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The courtyard was a pleasure to spend time in; beneath the shade of a patio umbrella or in one of the two hammocks. We dipped in the pool every day. So refreshing! Convenient distance to many of Merida attractions, by foot and by car. All of our needs and expectations were met!
Our family of 4 (with kids ages 8 and 11) loved this spot for our less than a week stay. Check in and check out was easy and pleasant with interactions and conversation with Peter and Benjamin.
The house was clean, comfortable, lots of open space and maintains some much appreciated design. I liked that the 2nd bedroom was in the main house (although through the bathroom but that wasn’t a big deal for us).
The pool was bigger than expected and the patio is dreamy. The street was quiet, friendly neighbors, chill restaurant across the street. The location was bit far of a walk for our kids to around Plaza Grande but ubers were easy and walks on surrounding streets were pleasant. There is an OXXO grocery w/in walking distance around Santiago park. Great stay, would happily return!
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Santiago. It is lovely and spacious and close to many great bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay there again.
Having lived in Merida in 2003,I was excited to return. Our family stayed in Benjamin’s house for four nights and would have happily stayed longer. The house itself is beautiful, the kitchen well equipped and the beds smell good. The biggest hit was the back yard and swimming pool- and we used it a lot. We also ate from the restaurant right in front “Unknown” twice and the kids loved it. Because we have a two year old, the distance to the Centro felt more than it really is, and once we rented a car we moved around more easily.
I highly recommend this place and families will enjoy having space for their kids.
Casa cómoda, pulita, bellissimi pavimenti, piscina e dehor essenziali e piacevoli.Assistenza tempestiva e gentilissima del gestore per qualsiasi dubbio o problema
My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much! What a perfect house- lots of space and absolutely loved the backyard area. We spent so much time out there in the evening with cocktails and in the mornings drinking coffee. Would stay here again!
Overall, Benjamin's place was great! The neighborhood (Barrio Santiago is my favorite) was quiet and the apartment is not on a busy street--no buses! The apartment is expansive--the kitchen with plenty of pots, pans, dishes and glassware. Both bedrooms have air conditioning and the outdoor area with dipping pool is also very large with many beautiful plants and two hammocks for afternoon siestas! Be prepared to maintain the pool and you'll be very happy there! I love Merida and will return again and again! Thank you Benjamin!

Historical charmer
This is a well kept, beautiful historical home. The owner Ben met us with the keys, showed us all the details of the house, then left us to enjoy.
The courtyard was our favorite place to relax with its lush foliage, beautiful flowers and the constant breeze. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay.

Oasis in the city!
Casa Santiago is in a great location, close to Parque Santiago, wIth easy access to the main attractions of Merida. From the street the house looks like a typical, weather-worn Mexican house. Do not be deceived. When you enter the home you are welcomed to a grand and airy colonial home with beautiful pasta tile floors and twenty plus foot ceilings. The home is spacious, comfortable, and charming. It is understated. My partner and I spent two weeks at this home and loved every minute. We particularly enjoyed the courtyard and the ability to seamlessly move from indoors to outdoors to take advantage of the cooler mornings and evenings.
Merida is hot...very hot! Each day is like having two days with a break in between. The mornings are fabulous and the evenings refreshing. The middle of the day is brutally hot. The swimming pool at Casa Santiago was a refreshingly pleasant interlude from the heat of the day. We quickly fell into a rhythm where we incorporated this into our daily routine.
I have no hesitation recommending Casa Santiago as a great place to stay. The owner, Benjamin, is very responsive. He was very helpful and easy to work with. It was a particularly nice surprise to find organic coffee beans and fresh pastries awaiting us upon arrival. I highly recommend Casa Santiago as a place to stay and enjoy your time in Merida.
