When we drove up to the property we were deloghted to be greeted by rabbits, geese and sheep frolicking through the paddocks. The views over the hills and down to the water were to die for, it is also a great place to watch the sunrise. The shower was warm and strong, the bed is big and super comfy. The room was charming, spacious and clean.Town was an easy drive (recommend McCleods brewery and little 'lato) but not walking distance and we were also very close to the glow worm caves. The host also provided a quality breakfast and snacks.Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
When checking in, we had planned to drop off our bags and head out, but when we saw the view from the deck, we ended up spending the late afternoon and evening sitting there. The hills rolled out before us, leading to the ocean, with mountains on one side and islands on the other. And it was so quiet, nothing but the wind in the trees, the twitter of birds, and an occasional roster call. The stove top and provided kitchen ware allowed us to whip up a simple dinner, and the ample refrigerator, which was stocked with drinks and treats, allowed us to store our food. The cabin was delightfully decorated and extremely comfortable. If you don’t mind the wonderful drive up into the hills, you will enjoy this gem.
We absolutely loved our stay here! The accomodation was clean and surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The hosts were also very friendly and accomodating.

The cottage was amazing, extremely clean and well maintained. All the little details, breakfast, chocolates, great range of tea and coffee, home made orange bread were very luxurious. Maureen was very welcoming and great to talk with. Thank you for the best nights accommodation we had in New Zealand
The perfect way to end a work trip!
Stayed for one night in April with my partner after working in NZ for the week. What a beautiful place, Very welcoming hosts, easy to find, very well aquainted little cottage with a view to die for in the morning. We will be coming back,
Thank you!
Harry and Claire,
First, let me say that the place was awesome (I did give it 5 stars). I did however make a mistake regarding location. Mareen gave me accurate directions immediately when I booked, I saw I had a message through VRBO (I don't have the app), and I promptly ignored it.When it was time to drive to the place, I couldn't find directions (don't get ahead of the story folks). I messaged her once through email, and once through VRBO, and she responded twice!... through VRBO... Once I got to where I had data again, I saw I had a message in VRBO, and the directions were there thrice, hint hint, the first one I got was after immediately booking it.The map on the property details are inaccurate, however, if it was accurate, it would basically dox her, so I understand why it is that way. (Or it would be such a large area as to be unhelpful to those looking to book). This location is remote, no Wi-Fi, but there are plugs for electrical devices. A nice complement of tea and coffee options.I highly recommend that if you are a city folk like myself, get to the property for the first time before dark! It is a solid 10 minutes of gravel roads before you get there. I've done my fair share of off-roading so it was not a big deal to me, but my wife flat out refused to drive it.TLDR: Place is beautiful and remote. Would rebook.
