The Encounter Bikeway travels along the pristine coastline linking the heritage towns of Goolwa, Port Elliot and Middleton with us at Victor Harbor and you can jump onto it from just outside our door in Kent reserve. We have a couple of bikes in the garage for you to borrow or you can hire e-bikes from Victor or Goolwa which are so much fun and very easy to travel more distance without any leg power pain!
Port Elliot is a 10 min drive and we recommend Horseshoe Bay and Cockles Cafe ( have the Nasi Goreng!) before taking yourselves on another stunning coastal walk known as the Harbourmasters Walking Trail which is a 1.9km circuit mainly flat walk between Horseshoe Bay, across the headland to Knights Beach. On the way back you can stop in at the famous Flying Fish cafe for lunch or ice-cream. There are numerous walking trails from Port Elliot and don't forget the famous Port Elliot Bakery and boutique shopping and restaurants/pubs in the town. There are also ovals, skate parks, tennis courts and kids adventure parks in both Victor Harbour and Port Elliot but you are on Kent Reserve so, on your doorstep there is a kids playground, BBqs, Outdoor Gym and wide grassy areas for picnics and cricket .
If you want to take your boat to the boat ramp then that is along the esplanade to the right of our house, outside Whalers Inn at the base of the Bluff. The Whalers Inn has outdoor seating, ocean views, cocktails and happy hour too if you just want to sit back and watch the sunset fishing boats. A stroll there from our house will take you about 20 mins.
Or why not grab a deck chair from the shed and hop across the grass for a quiet relax at sunset with your toes in the sand and an almost private beach feel to yourselves. When the sun goes down, stroll home to the BBQ on the deck for a stress free night in.
If you want surf lessons, sandy beaches and kid friendly surf waters, Middleton is very close to us. Other favorite beaches are Boomers Beach and Knight Beach.
