Gumnut Cottage Gippsland: A Hamptons-Style Haven for Couples...
Step into the cosy charm of Gumnut Cottage Gippsland, a 26m² Hamptons-style eco-house blending sustainability with luxury. The snug king-sized bed, with just 45cm around the edges, offers a cosy retreat; but may not suit all guests.
Primarily off-grid, the cottage includes back-up power for added comfort. Thoughtfully designed, it proves sustainable living can be both elegant and chic.
Inside, the pitched ceilings with exposed beams create an airy elegance, while every detail is crafted for your comfort. Sink into the snug king-sized bed, draped in luxe linens, with the bedroom offering a cocoon of calm. The ensuite invites relaxation, featuring an extra large shower with a waterfall head, waffle weave bathrobes, and goat milk soap—complemented by slippers for you to take home.
Whether you’re planning a romantic dinner on the 30m² deck or a cosy movie night with smart TVs in both the bedroom and living room (Stan, Netflix, YouTube, Free to Air TV), you’ll feel at home. For outdoor enthusiasts, your private festoon-lit area is perfect for evening games, picnics with our provided essentials, or capturing memories at the photo wall.
A curated guest book, available online and in print, highlights local itineraries, eateries, and hidden gems to make your getaway truly memorable. With thoughtful touches like a picnic basket, rain jackets, and board games, we’ve got you covered for every weather.
Gumnut Cottage Gippsland isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience of intimacy, relaxation, and a deeper connection with the beauty of Gippsland. Exclusively for couples and solo travellers over 21, it’s your perfect escape to unwind, recharge, and embrace a slower pace of life.
Guest access:
Gumnut Cottage Gippsland is nestled on a picturesque property; offering exclusive access to a magical 'Tiny Aussie Homestead' experience. Wander through lush surrounds featuring a burgeoning free-range food forest brimming with annual and perennial edible plants, over fifty fruit trees, and charming heritage touches.
Meet the friendly residents—adorable Babydoll sheep, playful pygmy goats, and cherished heritage hens—who add a touch of life and warmth to your stay.
Set on a 2.5-acre property, your tiny house retreat offers a peaceful and private stay. While there are a few surrounding homes and our residence is tucked away at the rear, you’ll have your own dedicated carport and private entrance. Self check-in via lockbox makes for an easy arrival and a relaxed, comfortable experience.
At Gumnut Cottage, you’re not just a guest—you’re stepping into a peaceful sanctuary designed for rest, rejuvenation, and connection with nature.
Other things to note:
Please note that we can only welcome guests over the age of 21 years as there is an unfenced dam on site (along with other risk factors).
If you’d like to use the indoor fireplace during your stay, please let us know when booking. An additional $25 fee applies, which includes fire preparation, kindling, firewood, and fire starters.
For safety reasons, only firewood supplied by us may be used. Use of the fireplace or any self-supplied firewood without prior arrangement is not permitted, as a past incident prompted this policy. Thank you for your understanding and helping us keep the space safe and cosy.

About the host
Hosted by Gumnut Cottage Gippsland

Hi! I'm Mel - A passionate host and tiny homesteader. I'm currently studying horticulture to learn how to best regenerate our little patch of paradise. I love working on our farm and being out and about with the animals and in our free range food forest area. Its such fun to share our property with guests (particularly the views!). We strive to provide magical, unique and highly memorable experiences for our guests that we hope last a lifetime!
Why they chose this property
Our area is very relaxing, yet there is so much to immerse yourself in if you want to get out and explore. I love our local pub (The Railway Hotel) and our friendly nearby town, Heyfield.
What makes this property unique
We have created a Tiny Homestead with a view to becoming almost fully self-sufficient in coming years. We have planted many perennial edible plants; over 80 fruit trees including edible hedges comprising blueberries and fejoas. We love to share our learnings with our guests if they would like to learn more about what we are doing and why. We are exploring permaculture and continuously learning as we go - always implementing new ideas and projects.
