The house was very cute and cozy! Had a fenced back yard for our furbaby! Close to several good bar & grills… also Josephine’s brunch is close by and is 10/10!
The host was very welcoming, provided wonderful information about the area restaurants and beach access. The house is in an excellent location-just a few minutes from everything, including SPI. Fire pit in the back yard was great for a smore night with our kids too!
This house has all the amenities one will need for a nice vacation, the garden is very relaxing and with lots of shade, we travel with pets and they love it it’s on a walk distance from the light house and main attractions in port Isabel, we enjoyed staying here
We really enjoyed our stay! It was clean, had everything we needed. The beds were comfy as was the couch for relaxing. The backyard was an oasis and a great place for evening cocktails.
Older Florida home nestled in tropical landscape. Fenced in yard was great for dog. Owner was very accommodating. Location was very convenient to restaurants & grocery stores. Only a short drive over the bridge to the island.
We enjoyed everything about this place. A nicely decorated home with all of the necessities. My kids really enjoyed the backyard with all of the foliage. It is very convenient to local restaurants, the fishing pier, and the bridge to the island. If we ever return to the area, we will stay here again.
The cottage was surrounded by its own little tropical oasis, that made feel it very private & secluded. The home provided a comfortable setting for our stay, and we enjoyed the central location for birding the hotspots on SPI & the mainland.
Check in was easy we arrived a few hours early and was still able the text the manager. My girls 16 and 17 enjoyed their room the kitchen was lovely even my four leged friend enjoyed. My husband and really enjoyed ourselves as well.
This spot is amazing! Kinda in the middle of everything and not far from the island. We had one minor problem but when I tell you the property manager helped out quick it’s an understatement!! He is amazing and our stay was a blast!! Thank you so much for sharing your little cottage with us! It is most def a home away from home!!! Will stay here again in the future!
The property was as described in the listing. The home was cozy and perfect for our needs. Easy access to the Island and to get to the road back to Brownsville. Backyard was really neat! Due to the recent rains the mosquitos made it hard to enjoy it too much, but that was everywhere and not an owner issue. Owner had wonderful communication prior to arriving which I appreciated. We would stay again!
We really liked this place, the house itself is great. It could use a few standard things like a sponge/scrubber, a hair dryer, some coffee to go with the keurig is usually pretty standard too. But it’s a very cute house and I absolutely love the jungle vibes and all the plants.
That said, as others have mentioned, the fees for this place are absolutely insane. The nightly price is nowhere near what is listed because the fees are so incredibly high. Our fees ended up being 40% of the total cost. We spent way way more than we wanted to in the end and I don’t think I would book again because the fees are just wild.

Hi Lindsay, your review is greatly appreciated, and we're thankful for your time sharing your experience. Upon reviewing your feedback, we've connected with the homeowner, who wanted to address a few points:- Thank you for sharing your experience with us following your recent stay. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the unique charm of our house and the lush jungle vibes – it's always rewarding to know our guests appreciate the distinctive features of the property.- We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the absence of certain amenities during your stay. Your feedback is invaluable, and we have taken immediate action to address these concerns. Essential items like a hair dryer, coffee pods for the Keurig, and a dish sponge/scrubber are now readily available for our guests.- We understand your concern about fees, and we want to assure you that all rates, fees, and taxes are clearly outlined for guests before they confirm their booking. We are sorry if you were caught off guard though. We genuinely value your input, and we hope these improvements contribute to a more enjoyable experience for future guests. Thank you for choosing to stay with us.
I can never possibly explain the worst nightmare that happened upon arrival for my 40th! This place was NOT cleaned prior to arrival, bug infested everywhere! My poor dog got bite by a spider recluse in the right eye an hour after arrival. $$$ later getting him better and still no response from Vrbo. I can’t post pictures of the incidents! How is it fair. Cockroach’s/waterbugs in the light of ceiling fan in main bedroom. Bugs alive in bed just absolutely disgusting and the contact was useless! Can’t trust this place. Don’t take your pets if you actually choose this place and I highly recommend against renting here!

Hi Brittany, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following-We sincerely apologize for any issues you encountered with bugs. The property is in a semi-tropical area, which can unfortunately lead to increased insect activity, particularly following storms like Hurricane Beryl.-When you informed us of the issue, we offered to have our local contact come over immediately to address the problem with a non-toxic bug spray. We respect your decision to decline the offer, though we wish we could have helped more during your stay.-The homeowner personally inspected the property after your departure and did not find any signs of a severe infestation, but we understand that your experience was upsetting. While we do regret our home was not up to your expectations, we are happy to report that no issues were reported by the guests who stayed the following weekend.
We loved the location of this property—close enough to walk to the things we wanted to see in Port Isabel and just a very short drive over the bridge to South Padre Island. The backyard was as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. Unfortunately (especially as someone who brought a young child who wanted to play in the yard and paid an extra fee to bring our dog)—the backyard was covered in dog stool and there was nothing to clean it up with. We had to contact the owner to be able to access the personal shed to get a shovel to clean up 15 mounds of dog poop. I understand that this was the previous guests’ responsibility to clean up after their pet—but it would be nice if supplies were available to clean up after your pet (since it’s a pet-friendly location) and if the cleaning crew checked this as part of their service before giving the okay for the next guest to come in. The back porch was so nice. We loved the window from the kitchen that looked out onto the backyard. I do feel like it should be disclosed that the bathroom is not appropriate for anyone with mobility issues. The entry is extremely narrow. The shower is a completely tiled stall shower with nothing to hold onto. Had either of my elderly parents been with us, I would not have felt safe with them using this shower. It was definitely hard to shower a small child in it!I also had to spend over an hour dealing with the host trying to figure out the alarm system that was not working. Very frustrating.

From the Owner: Hi Courtney, we are happy that you loved the location and enjoyed the sites at South Padre Island. - We ask all our pet owners to pick up after their pets as they would in their own homes. However, we have people who are not that courteous. We are planning on having a big landscape upgrade in the very near future. Someone must have moved the shovel our apologies. - We are considering retiring the alarm system it doesn't get used much, and we apologize for the inconvenience. - The home was built in 1948 large showers were not something they did back then, and we are not planning on any renovations. We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and we are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!
