So nice having you Angela. We hope you come back again and that the weather co-operates for the week. So glad you still had lots of family fun.
Hosts were always available and willing to help out (not that we needed it much) When the power went out in the region these two were right on it, making sure we were taken care of. Hats off to them!Sept. 2 to 13 was a perfect time of year. Lake was so quiet and the loons were not! LOVED this little treasure on Six Mile Lake.

Thanks Bernd for the kind words. We loved hosting you and hope you’ll make it back for another visit one year!
My husband and our adult children enjoyed a restful week at the Pretty Cottage. The large windows allowed spectacular views of the lake and the sunsets. We spent our days reading on the dock, swimming to and from the lily pad and paddling around the islands. The cottage contained everything we needed to enjoy quality time together during meal preparation, games and relaxation. The many windows and ceiling fans provided relief from the heat.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and did not want to leave. Pictures do not do it justice. The sunset views are gorgeous and the lake was clean. Our host was wonderful, and we hope to be back soon!

Thank you Leonita for your lovely review. So glad you guys enjoyed yourselves and we would gladly welcome you back!
Our family enjoyed 2 weeks at this delightful and well maintained property steps from the lake. The cottage is attractively decorated with comfy beds and good linen. There's lots of seating on the deck and docks, and a choice of non motorized watercraft with the necessary safety equipment. The floating mat was a big hit with our boys. The kitchen is well equipped and has lots of dishes and cutlery. We loved the new BBQ.We enjoyed a visit to the Bala waterski show and the Big Chute marine railway but we didn't feel much need to leave the property!Barbara is an attentive host and dealt with the odd issue quickly and effectively. Thank you for a wonderful stay. and we hope to be back next year.

So nice having you stay with us and getting to know you! Thank you for the lovely review and staying with us!
My friend and I rented this cottage for 3 nights. Location was lovely, on a quiet part of the lake with very swimmable water. Cottage has several boats and the canoeing/kayaking is great. The cottage is very "in nature", we saw lots of wildlife and some creepy crawlies. The inside of the cottage was very clean and newly renovated. You can't have an open fire here, but there are two fire tables and a bbq, so that wasn't a problem at all. Lots of places to sit outside and view the serene lake. Would definitely recommend! Barb was an excellent host.

Hi Heidi,
We loved having you both as guests and are so glad you were able to enjoy all the cottage has to offer. Thank you for your lovely review and we hope you’ll come back again! Best, Barb & Roy
The cottage: just like the photos show. A clean, updated, cosy, and well-equipped cottage with lots of room to relax and take in the lovely lake and forest views. The kitchen had everything we needed and we made good use of the BBQ. It is a bit of a slope to get down to the cottage from the parking. I loved that it was steps from the cottage to the lake.
The lake: situated on a quiet bay, the lake was clear and calm - perfect for swimming and kayaking or just hanging out on the dock enjoying the sunshine or the shade provided by the large umbrella. And oh those sunsets!
Barb was an excellent and responsive host - instructions were clear for a smooth arrival and information package had all the answers we needed.
All in all it was a relaxing and comfortable getaway for three friends to catch up and wind down.

Hi Stephanie, I'm so glad you and your friends had such a great time and were able to recharge! Thank you for your thoughtful review and we hope you'll come back again!
We stayed for four nights with another couple and their ten-year old daughter. We loved the water views and outdoor seating options, including fire tables for drinking wine and making S’mores in the cooler evenings. We enjoyed swimming and using the raft that was thoughtfully placed for us, as well as the canoes and kayaks. The daughter loved swimming and the adults enjoyed the water activities and relaxing with good books while taking in the views. We did a couple of nearby hikes and went to a winery. The kitchen was great - well-stocked with pots, pans, utensils and spices. We stopped at a Sobey’s in Barrie on our way there, and once at another Sobey’s about a half hour to the north. We made all our meals at the cottage. The three bedrooms and two full bathrooms gave us plenty of room. Communication was great - there were no issues at all. It was perfect for us. We will look forward to coming back!

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you so much for your kind review and so happy you all enjoyed your stay. We loved having you as guests and looking forward to your return one day! Thank you, Barb & Roy
Recently refurbished cottage with almost full amenities and brand-new appliances, next to the lake.
Excellent: plenty of deck space and places to sit (to invite friends who do not stay overnight), 2 gas fire pits, a floating deck, 2 kayaks and a canoe.Good-sized kitchen, capsule coffee makers, all kitchen utensils you may want. Absolutely breath-taking views of the lake and sunsets.
Good to know: there is about 50m between where you park and the entrance of the house, and it is pretty steep, so if you go with older people or arrive at night, take that into account. Closest decent grocery store is at least 35-40 min away (Wawautosa is 20 min but has only the basics). The house is deep in a peninsula, so expect to encounter insects (lots of spiders).Bring your own adult-size life jackets for kayaking (there is only 1)
Hosts: Barb and Roy were super helpful and kind of, and made a real effort to make sure we had everything we needed, including a colander and brought us drinking water jug refills as soon as the ones we had were finished (we stayed 10 days).Star hosts!
Will definitely return!

Hi Jean Marc and family,
Thank you very much for your great review and tips provided to future renters! It was a pleasure to meet you all and we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to seeing you again. Best, Barb & Roy
I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful rental in August 2024 with my family of four, including my wife and two daughters (ages 8 and 10). The cottage is just as described in pictures and has been well designed to create a relaxing vacation. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment that we used to make all of our meals. Nespresso/Keurig machines were great to have, as well as supplied garbage/food storage bags, paper towels, water cooler and bottles, and a variety of spices. There is a leaf blower to clean off the deck and outside areas which was also great. My only complaint is on the barbeque which was too small for my needs and requires a new burner tube, so food didn't come out great. A newer and larger barbeque should be considered to make this a perfect rental. The waterfront was beautiful with a good supply of paddle boats (1 two-person inflatable kayak, 2 single-person kayaks, and a canoe) to paddle out to the islands or explore the lake. We rented a fishing (motor) boat from Wawautosa marina which you could paddle over to in about 15 minutes to pick up/drop off the boat. The inflatable kayak was perfect and light weight to bring on the motor boat for the return trip from the marina. Overall, this was a great cottage and the owners did a fantastic job with the design, decor, to make it a great getaway for renters. Barb was an excellent host, providing immediate support to any questions we had. I would absolutely rent here again.

About the host
Hosted by Barbara
I'm from Toronto and have been cottaging for over 20 years. We recently completed a full renovation on this cottage with a desire to create a fun relaxing cottage both inside and out for families to enjoy, recharge and make great memories.
Why they chose this property
Six Mile Lake is a gorgeous healthy lake with approximately half of the 800 or so cottages on islands. The views are stunning and the clean calm water makes for great kayaking, fishing, swimming and paddleboarding.
What makes this property unique
A beautiful private property with the water literally a few steps away from the cottage. The windows all around and walk outs to the deck from most rooms makes you feel like you are one with nature.
