Beachfront paradise on Playa Portrero

Please note - we very much appreciate your interest in our property, but please be advised that we cannot consider requests for groups larger than 10 people. The front house manages 6 people and can be rented as a standalone arrangement - please contact us for pricing if you only need the front house. The rental quoted here includes both the front house plus a another house on the property that sleeps an additional 4 people.

This beachfront vacation house on Playa Potrero is sure to be your ultimate vacation spot in Costa Rica. The property consists of two houses.

The main house is perfect for three couples or a family of six. It boasts a spacious master living quarters, complete with a King Size bed, and a large walk in closet. As with all of the bedrooms in the main house, there is also a beverage centre and flat screen TV. The two other bedrooms mirror each other, both equipped with king size beds and have a large shared bathroom between them. There is a grandiose shared upper patio that stretches in front of the master suite and the the west facing shared bedroom. This is a perfect spot for catching the beautiful Pacific Sunsets.

On the main floor of the main house, you will find an open concept Kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room area. The Kitchen comes fully equipped with all of the modern appliances to prepare a family meal but certainly capable of impressing any aspiring chef or foodie. And of course, there is a TV if you need to watch the game, while doing the dishes. The Dining room table is the centerpiece of the main floor, made from the beautiful Guanacaste Tree that is local to Costa Rica. At this table built for 10, you will enjoy having all of your guests for dinner, or playing any of the board games that come stocked at the house. The Living Room area has a collection of love seats and chairs, great for hosting a cocktail, or watching TV. The amenities also include a full laundry area.

There are three sliding doors from the main house that lead to the pool and beach area. On the patio, there is a large Outdoor Kitchen, complete with a beverage fridge, a BB-Q and an outdoor sink; and, of course, a TV to catch the highlights while you BBQ.

The rear house is a fully enclosed two bedroom suite with a fully equipped kitchen, dining and living room plus large bathroom with a built in laundry. It offers a large outer covered deck equipped for outdoor cooking and dining should you care to take meals outside.

Amazing home!

This is a fabulous property, well designed and fully stocked. The pictures do not do the casa justice. We stayed a week with a group of nine. The host and staff were very accommodating and attentive to all our needs. The host provided a full page of recommendations. Everything we utilized was perfect. We rented golf carts, giving us full access to the area. We booked a couple of tours with Don from “Get lost in Costa Rica” tours. He has a wonderful tour guide. We all fell in love with Costa Rica. We had family members staying in a different location nearby. They were not nearly as satisfied with their trip as we were.

One of the Nicest Houses I’ve Ever Rented!

I don’t know where to even start with my compliments, there are so many. You can tell the owners visit often and love the place, it’s not just an investment property. As others have said the pictures don’t do it justice and I agree. It’s very big and has a great layout. Plenty of room for everyone to be together or spread out for alone time. The beds are super comfortable, which isn’t always the case with rentals. It’s really well stocked with everything you would ever need. The kitchen is fantastic to cook in and has every gadget on earth plus spices and pantry items. Everything is high end, not junky rental house stuff. The owners are gracious and lovely, they gave us lots of helpful info before we arrived and checked to see if we needed anything when we got there. I really enjoyed corresponding with them. Jorge, the property manager, was very helpful and flexible when we had flight delays and didn’t get in until late. Joel comes every morning and keeps the outside immaculate. The location is close to everything but tucked back enough to avoid noise.The view is fabulous as well. I can’t wait to come back!

Staying at Casa Oltmann was an absolute dream. Darlene and Jorge took care of everything we needed. The photos don't do the house justice. The gated entry leads to the first of three buildings. This first building has two bedrooms and a full kitchen and living space. Walking from the driveway through an archway leads you to a garden path to the front door, where you're greeted by an impressive staircase leading to three bedrooms and a walk-out terrace to lounge and watch the pelicans. The finishes are beautifully done and you will want for nothing. Behind the main house - which boasts a kitchen with every bell&whistle you could ever ask for - is the pool. The pool area has a waterfall feature, shallow and deep end, and every floatie a kid could desire. With a large table to host dinners and lots of seating as well as a media room, you'll never want to move! That is, until the garage door at the back of property lifts and you realize you are right on the beach, just a few metres to the ocean. Grab the kayaks and go make friends with the pelicans. Hang a right and walk 10 minutes and you'll be at Las Brisas restaurant which has the best ceviche in the area. Walk 15 to the left and you'll find the Beach House which is great for breakfast. But don't miss Perlas which is owned by neighbor Ray. Super friendly, great food and live music. If you don't have a rental car, a golf cart will get you everywhere you need to go. Bop around to the neighboring beach towns that are true local destinations. Lots of travellers, but Potrero doesn't have an overly touristy vibe. This is the perfect spot to relax, explore, and spend time with family and friends. Already looking forward to coming back here! It's everything you could ask for!

Great house. Perfect location. The setting is like no other. Tons of fun things to do in the area. The pool is awesome. House is very nicely designed and decorated. Probably will want to stay for a month.

We stayed at Casa Oltmann from December 27-Jan 3. Everything exceeded our expectations. The house was beautiful, the gourmet kitchen fully equipped. The grounds and pool were well looked after. The outdoor kitchen was a favourite of ours to BBQ and stream the World Juniors on the outdoor TV. The house is right on the beach and the sunsets are amazing. We rented golf carts which were awesome to visit other beaches or just pick up a few groceries. We found Playa Potrero to be very friendly, good restaurants and a very good grocery store. We did make a stop in Liberia at Walmart to pick up the majority of our groceries. We used the main house and the back house which was perfect for our family of 8. We are already planning our next visit to Casa Oltmann.
