Summary:
Palm Cottage is a relaxed, family-friendly island home set within a leafy garden, just a short walk from Palm Beach. With generous outdoor living, a calm coastal feel, and space to spread out, it’s a comfortable base for guests wanting an easy Waiheke stay close to the sea.
The Space:
Palm Cottage is arranged across two levels and designed for simple, comfortable living. Bright open-plan living spaces look out to the surrounding greenery, creating a settled, welcoming atmosphere throughout the home.
The main living area is relaxed and practical, suited to slow mornings, shared meals, and quiet evenings after time at the beach. The kitchen is well equipped for everyday holiday cooking and connects easily to the outdoor dining and garden areas.
Bedrooms are spread across both levels, allowing flexibility for families or groups travelling together. The home includes two queen bedrooms, one king bedroom, and a super-king bedroom that can be split into two singles if required. A full bathroom, an additional toilet, and a private outdoor shower make returning from the beach easy and comfortable.
Outside, the garden is flat, sunny, and framed by mature trees, offering space for children to play and adults to relax. Outdoor dining and shaded seating areas support easy indoor-outdoor living and give the home its calm, island rhythm.

The Neighborhood:
Palm Cottage sits in one of Waiheke’s most loved pockets, a calm, leafy neighbourhood that feels tucked away yet still close to everything that makes the island special. From the cottage, it’s an easy stroll down to Palm Beach, a sheltered swimming bay with soft sand, clear water, and beautiful headland walks that open up to views across the Hauraki Gulf.
Just up the road you’ll find Palm Beach Store for coffee, ice creams, and beach essentials, and Arcadia for relaxed dining just steps from the sand. A short drive brings you into Oneroa Village, the island’s main hub for boutique shopping, cafés, galleries, takeaways, and everyday essentials. The area is also surrounded by nature, bush tracks, pōhutukawa canopy, and small hidden pathways that lead to neighbouring bays like Shelly Beach and Enclosure Bay, both perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and sunset picnics.
Palm Cottage is also well located for exploring Waiheke’s world-class food and wine scene. Award-winning vineyards including Stonyridge, Tantalus, Te Motu, Wild Estate, and Batch Winery are only minutes away. Even closer is The Heke Brewery & Distillery, a favourite for craft beer, wood-fired food, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. You’re close to everything, yet the surroundings remain peaceful, green, and deeply connected to island life.
Getting Around:
Palm Cottage is well positioned for easy transport around the island. The closest bus stop is at Palm Beach, just a short walk from the house, where regular services run between the Matiatia Ferry Terminal, Oneroa Village, Palm Beach, and Onetangi. These routes also stop near many of the island’s most popular vineyards, including The Heke Brewery, which is a quick ride away.
Buses are the most reliable and cost-effective way to travel, especially in busy seasons. Taxis and rideshares are available but can be expensive and limited, so pre-booking is recommended. If you’re bringing a vehicle, there is easy parking at the property, and many guests enjoy renting e-bikes for a scenic, effortless way to explore the coastal roads and cellar doors.
Other Things to Note:
Security cameras: The property has exterior security cameras at the front driveway and garden entrance purely for security purposes. These cameras do not record inside living spaces and are switched off and not recording during your entire stay. They are disclosed here for guest awareness in compliance with privacy expectations.
Palm Cottage runs on rainwater tanks, a standard for Waiheke Island. We ask guests to be mindful of water use, short showers, no running taps, and thoughtful use of the washing machine and dishwasher all support the island’s sustainability.
A cot and highchair are provided for guest use on request. Please note if not requested on booking a $75 + GST charge will be applied to deliver to the property.
The two single beds can be made into a super-king upon request.
Pets are considered upon application with written approval.
Apple Door Play and external cameras are not operational while guests are staying.
Minimum nights apply during summer and long weekends.
Interaction with Guests:
