The beautifully appointed kitchen is angled into the living space, with an island sink that looks out to both the living room and the ocean. Quartz counters, upscale appliances, a gas stove and lots of small appliances—including an espresso machine—make cooking for a crowd a pleasure. A formal dining room is fit for a feast, with a high ceiling and cushioned chairs. Plenty of living room seating centers around a large gas fireplace and TV, with access to a deck that wraps around the exterior of the home for views of the forest and sea.

Upstairs is a sumptuous ocean-view king suite with a high hexagonal window, TV, and full bath with a walk-in shower. A queen suite and a twin daybed on the landing make this an easy home to share with another family. The kids will take possession of the lower level, where a queen bedroom joins a bonus room equipped with a TV, DVD player, movies, a Wii, and a Play Station. That’s not all—there’s a ping-pong table and NFL Blitz arcade game in the garage plus power up your electric car with the EV charger, and an access door to the private, screened hot tub.

You’ll be an easy walk to Depoe Bay’s lineup of shops, restaurants, and the amazing seawall that fronts the bay and offers gorgeous rocky surf, seabirds and the occasional whale spout. The rich kelp beds around the bay make this a year-round feeding ground for grey whales, and it’s easy to catch a whale-watching trip out of the harbor to see them up close. Newport’s extensive working Bayfront and the Oregon Coast Aquarium are a half hour to the south; Lincoln City’s outlet mall and Chinook Winds Casino are the same distance to the north. Close by, you’ll find craft beer, restaurants, a bakery, art, and a spa at Salishan, and in between, loads of beaches, rocky overlooks, and trail hiking. Have a large group?
