Old, not very clean, and a bit scary

This house is old and smelled musty. Most of the furniture is very outdated and a lot of it is worn. Broken window in upstairs bedroom, many broken blinds through out house, dangerous wiring on light fixture over stairwell, upstairs railing is missing the balustrade (which poses a grave danger for young children), bathroom toilet and tub/shower were filthy, refrigerator was filthy inside, dead bugs on many of the window sills. The photos online make it look much nicer than it is. -There is a lot more old furniture in the house and clutter now. It looks like the window sills and other places in the house have not been cleaned in a very long time. It was not a comfortable place to stay in, especially with young children.

Hi Sue, we want our guests to arrive at a home that meets their expectations and feels clean, safe, and comfortable. After reviewing your feedback with the homeowner, they’d like to share the following:- The property is an authentic farmhouse, and the decor and furnishings reflect this vintage style, which is shown in the listing photos.- The electrical setup in the home is original to the house, with some switches being part of an older system. While they may not function like modern wiring, they have been inspected and confirmed safe for guests.- We’re sorry if the cleanliness wasn’t up to standard. We have addressed your concerns with the cleaning team to ensure areas like the bathroom, refrigerator, and window sills are thoroughly attended to before future stays.- The broken blinds and window, as well as the missing balustrade on the upstairs railing, will be inspected and repaired as needed to ensure the space is safe and comfortable for all guests. We appreciate your feedback so we can continue to improve, and we hope to provide you with a truly comfortable stay if you choose to visit again in the future.
