Quiet Country Log Home on three ponds. All we overlook is the scenery..
Peace and quiet only that the country and the stars can give you. This sprawling ranch log home consists of 3 bedrooms, (total sleeping accommodations for 9, 10 if one on LR sofa), 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen with all appliances, dining room, and living room. A fieldstone propane-fired fireplace (winter use only) is shared by both the living room and dining room, both with a view of the private pond and natural country foliage. Other amenities include central air conditioning, and two full-size hot water heaters for good hot showers. Although very private in location, the high speed fiber optic internet and living room Smart TV allow you to stay connected. You can use your own Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime accounts on this TV.
The home features a large front deck and covered porch overlooking the ponds where Canadian Geese nest in the spring, and bullfrogs sound off in summer evenings. The back covered porch is an ideal location to watch deer and turkey wander in from the woods for their dinner in the backyard apple orchard. The 40 acre grounds consist of a forest with hiking trails, meadows and rolling hills, bass ponds around the yards (catch and release only), rowboat and canoe. Firepit by front pond with covered, lighted picnic table area, apple orchard, and a creek for fishing at the back of the property boundary. No light pollution here. You can see the Milky Way overhead in our backyard on clear nights. Snowmobilers are welcome here, and the home is a mile from local snowmobile trails that connect to the Tug Hill and the ADKs. Only 3 miles from Interstate-81, 10 minutes to fishing for Salmon, Steelhead and Browns in the Salmon River, 25 minutes to Oneida Lake, 20 minutes to Lake Ontario. This home has been host to workers at the Nine-Mile and Fitzpatrick power plants during the yearly scheduled nuclear shutdowns. Plenty of room for you, big wallmount living room smart TV, and easy parking for 4-5 vehicles. This home has been host to fishermen entered in the national bass tournaments here in Central New York. Lots of room here to park your bass boats in the back yard, very private, secure and way off the road. Easily room for 4-5 bass boats, and plenty of car/truck parking too. This home has hosted families during spring graduation time at Syracuse University and Oswego State. 20 minute from the Syracuse International airport, private and sprawling yards for relaxing. We have a few ice skates and cross-country skis here for winter rentals. (See picture) Plenty of fields and forest to ski in. With good ice, you can skate on the pond.
NOTE: The washer and dryer/laundry room is available for rentals of 5 (five) nights or longer. For rentals of 3-4 nights, the laundry room is locked. The assumption is that you are able to bring enough changes of clothes/towels with you for your shorter stay. NOTE: We can sometimes accommodate up to a late checkout of 4 PM for a $100 fee, but you'll need to ask beforehand. [If another renter is coming the day you are leaving, this is not possible, as we need to clean] If you have a normal checkout time of 11 AM, please be considerate and check out by 11 AM. If you are considering an early check-in, possibly as early as 11 am, please ask beforehand to see if it's possible. The same $100 fee will apply.

Very nice location, enjoyed our time kayaking in the ponds, hiking, and relaxing in the hot tub. Nice pavilion and fire pit area.

Thank you for your review Lisa. We hope you guys can come again sometime. We also have another rental in the Adirondack mountains. If you'd like to check it out, please send me a note on VRBO, and I'll give you the property number. Bruce
The location is excellent, the nature is beautiful, and the house is a charming mix of old and new. Everything we needed for a great stay was there. If I may share just a couple of friendly thoughts: a little more lighting in the kitchen would be very helpful, and the lakes around the house, which are already such a gem, could become even more amazing with a bit of improvement.Overall, the house and the surroundings have huge potential, and it really feels like Bruce is on the right path. Wishing you the best of luck!

An amazing place to stay, the views were breathtaking, I was able to experience some fantastic runs on the open roads around the area. The cabin definitely convinced me of coming back!
What a wonderful experience..owner was very attentive and respectful of our privacy.. lovely cabin.. peaceful neighborhood..would definitely recommend..
We really enjoyed the open space at the property. The kids loved fishing and canoeing in the ponds, riding bikes in the long driveway and walking the trails in the woods. We also enjoyed the hot tub every day we were there.

You guys were great renters. Please come again if you're in our area. Bruce
It rained but we were well taken care of in the cabin. Lots of space for family to be rather the
stuck in close quarters and then when sun came out front deck / yard was lovely. Well appointed cabin- everything you could think of was at hand in the kitchen. Great stay!

The place was located perfectly for our group salmon fishing trip. Clean and layout was great for our needs. The only downfall was the rain. We are booking again with Bruce. The communication on checking in and out was fantastic.
We booked this house for our Family Eclipse Trip and it was perfect! We had everything we needed. House was clean, check in was easy, hosts were available for any questions we had at any time of our stay. Perfect place to see the eclipse. This is definitely a core memory our whole family has made!!!
The floors were being redone in our house so we had to find another place to stay for 6 days that would allow us to bring our Golden Retriever, Max. The house was perfect. 4 ponds for the kids and dog to play in. Beautiful property with a lot of wildlife to sit and watch. We were able to relax and enjoy our mini vacation.

Thank you guys for choosing our property for your stay. We hope you keep us in mind for your next getaway. Bruce and Caryn
We would definatley recomend this property, very peaceful and relaxing, unfortunatley for us we was on the go 24/7, we only had a few chances to use the Hot Tub off which we found to be very clean. The outside area was kept very nice we did not have time to light a fire around the pit, (did manage to catch a few fish) Definatley a place we would return to in the future thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house.
The property is beautiful and very private. Wish the weather was a little nicer during our stay but we still had the chance to hike the property and fish in the ponds. I will definitely revisit in the near future. Bruce and Caryn were very helpful and responded very quickly!

Thank you Raegan,
The house was well taken care of. We hope you come again!
This is a beautiful log home tucked away off the road with acres of hiking and several ponds, and exactly what I was looking for. This week was flaming hot so most of our time was spent inside, as my 2 elderly pups couldn't go on long walks in the heat any more than I could. The amount of work and love that the owners have put into making their home special is palpable. We were fortunate to have met the owners, amazing people. Can't wait to come back! Thx Bruce and Caryn. And wait til you see the night sky!

The log ranch had spaces with enough room for all 8 of us to gather together for meals and games. There were several locations inside and out for privacy as desired. Beds were comfortable, kitchen had all we needed to prepare great meals. Outside lawns were perfect for bocce games and the collection of Adirondack chairs scattered around and the deck furniture made outdoor living very pleasant. The weather was hot but the pond was ideal for a swim to cool off. Inside temperatures were ideal.
Our family stayed a few days during the fall 2020 salmon season and we could not have been happier. The owners are extremely nice people who provided an immaculant home with anything anyone could possibly want. From the beauty of the hand crafted woodwork and stained glass artwork throughout to many other tasteful decorations, there seemed to be something classy and interesting everywhere you looked. Peaceful and private would be the two words worth emphasizing. One would not be regretful of renting such a beautful home from such beautiful people. We look forward to future stays with Bruce and Caryn. Thank you both for making our trip so enjoyable!

Big, clean, log house on huge private property.
It's a nice, big, country style clean house on the huge privet property with 3 ponds. It's a lot of sunfish to catch and release and row boat that we used. 3 bedrooms with comfortable beds and a lot of space. The internet was fast enough for streaming on big smart TV. We did not use Jacuzzi hot tub, but it should be great to use during winter time. Unfortunately, we were not able to spend much of the evening time outside because our bug spray was not able to safe us from horseflies and gnats. It's a little more then 1 hour drive to 1000 Island region and a lot to see on both sides of border.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your review. Yeah, you hit the perfect bug weather for evenings! Just a little breeze would have helped. Sorry you didn't get to use the hot tub, but it will be here if you come back again. Thanks for taking care of our place while you were here. Bruce and Caryn

Great vacation or extended stay property. Spacious house with lots of land
Bruce and Caryn went above and beyond to make sure our extended stay at their home was enjoyable. From having fishing rods and a boat ready for us to use on the ponds at the house to bringing movies especially for our son to watch and always available to answer any of our questions they were great to work with and rent from. We were in the area for work and could not have asked for a better place to stay. The house is much larger than the pictures portray and is clean and provides all the comforts of home. The internet was fast enough for streaming on their smart TV and the hot tub was a bonus. Outdoors we thoroughly enjoyed the view from the oversized deck, fishing in 2 of the 5 ponds, grilling, having fires and hanging out around the outdoor fireplace and taking walks around the 40+ acres of property. We highly recommend this home to anyone visiting the area, we will definitely hope to come back in the future.

Thanks Tyler and Mandy,
We're glad you picked our place for your stay. If you need a recommendation for one of your other extended work stays somewhere else, we will stand up for you. Please bring the little guy back again with you next year, and I'll be sure to take him fishing in the ponds. You guys were the best, and thanks for taking care of our home. Bruce and Caryn
Once you drive into the property, you are greeted with a beautiful view of the home. The pond and geese with little ones in tow were on full display. Our grandkids were able to catch(and release) sunfish, chase frogs and a water snake while we used the outdoor fireplace to make sandwiches and s’mores. We also enjoyed the front porch, especially in the morning. As for the inside of the house, it’s very dated, but you can see that in the listing pictures and we didn’t mind that at all. The master bed was comfortable, the twin beds, not so much for adults. The bathrooms had plenty of everything. On to the kitchen, it only had one ceiling light, way too dark for these old eyes. However, it was stocked with everything needed, (we did have to wash a lot of things before using due to a film) again, with dated stuff. We could live with that too!!We paid for the hot tub but only used it once. Being a master klutz, I had a hard time getting in and out with the movable stairs. Overall, with a lot less notes, maybe some newer pots and pans with cleaner kitchen amenities and a few brighter lights this would have been a 5 star stay for us. These things matter to us and may not be an issue for others. It is definitely peaceful, safe and quiet.Bruce was always responsive and seemed to genuinely care that you enjoy their home.

We are a couple of empty-nesters now. Looking for what's around the next bend. We lend out our place to others while we put on our own traveling shoes.
Why they chose this property
Close to Salmon River, Lake Ontario, Oneida Lake. World class salmon and steelhead fishing just up the road in the salmon river and Lake Ontario. Bass fishing in front yard ponds. Also plenty of sunfish for the kids, and wading/swimming for them in summers. Can swim and rowboat in front pond. Hiking in back woods. 6-person Hot tub on enclosed back porch. Front deck and dining room overlook ponds for morning coffee. Enclosed big back porch. Deer and turkey viewing in back fields, orchard and woods. Turkey hunting in spring and deer hunting in fall out back.
What makes this property unique
Six-person Hot tub on enclosed back porch. (There is a $120 fee for the hot tub, and we normally need 2-3 days notice to fill and prepare it for you ) Outdoor masonry fireplace in front yard by pond, with picnic table under roof with lights. Hiking on trails out back in woods, creek in back. Very private. Ponds in front, bullfrogs singing out your window in summer, fireflies light up the meadow in evenings. The shooting stars and moonlit nights are free. If you are looking for peace and quiet, or just a soft place to fall for your getaway, you've found it.
