Beautiful modern property with a massive covered deck and spectacular panoramic views of the lake and mountains. About 1 hour drive and a short ferry ride from Nelson. Has everything you need for a comfortable stay - large washer/dryer, dishwasher, barbecue, etc. Of note, the dock is shared with the rental property next door. There was some confusion about this with the renters there, but our host was very responsive and informed them quickly. If you are bringing a large boat, just double check that the neighbours aren't also bringing one. Hiking and biking nearby, and a the lake was lovely for swimming and paddling. Would definitely stay again!
Great porch with a view to stay out of the direct sun on hot days. Great kitchen to prepare meals, grand table for eating and a living room to visit. Everyone had space to chill and sleep in.
We’ll be back!
Overall amazing place. One suggestion is a spare propane tank and some of the fees where not so clear but the owner was on top of it to answer our questions
We all had alot of fun..we never went into frontroom..our whole time was enjoying the deck and on the water. The kitchen was all stocked with all the ware you would need..we bbq we just loved it so much.
Beautiful house in a beautiful location with plenty of space and well stocked .
The only reason I gave a 4 for cleanliness is the deck is very cluttered. The property is advertised as having a dock but it is not accessible. Most of beach is unusable with an abandoned wood dock with screws and nails sticking out that make it unsafe for children.
Otherwise we enjoyed our time there.
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful home. The views are spectacular! We spent each day on the outdoor covered deck watching the scenery - so many eagles, ducks, herons, etc. and enjoyed watching the the boats & ferry go by. The deck has some older furniture that could be updated, but we still spent most of our time out there as it stretches across the entire front of the house, is shady most of the day and you can't beat the view. My kids enjoyed casting a fishing line off the end of the dock and the water is crystal clear and great for cooling off. The house is beautiful and spacious - we are a family of 6 and there was lots of room for everyone. The owner was very responsive with any questions asked. We rented a boat at a nearby marina and enjoyed taking the kids tubing and exploring the lake. The location is remote and private and there's a small corner store minutes away that has any items you may have forgotten or need to replenish. We loved our stay here - just the relaxation we needed!

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. Less than clean.
We rented this lake side house for 3 days in March and had it booked for a week in mid-summer. The March trip was to have a quick little break and to get a good understanding of what we would need to bring and what we would need for our summer trip with the family.
First off I would like to start with the good things. The house is nicely laid out and had a design that suited us and our family’s needs fine. The views of the beach and lake from the large windows were exceptional. It also had everything we could ask for in dishes, pot pans and utensils. The fire place inside was very nice and had an unbelievable amount of fire wood available.
The negatives were definitely far exceeding the good things. The lack of cleanliness of the entire house was identified fairly quickly. However it wasn’t until we started unpacking that we realized how bad it was. Everything was covered in a very thick layer of dust. To the point it was more like a dirt layer. Every window was covered on the inside and outside of cob webs. The windows that had screens on them were full of spider webs as thick as you would see anywhere. Every cupboard, drawer and cabinet had tons of mouse droppings in them. In fact the one drawer in the kitchen had what was left of a chewed up oven mitt (which I found out when I went to pull it on my hand). The kitchen counter around the toaster was also covered in droppings. My wife spent 2 hours cleaning all the counters and any drawer, dish, utensil prior to actually using or needing. The absolute worse was when I pulled back the bed sheets and saw dozens of mouse droppings in our bed.
I contacted the owner with my concerns and was very dissatisfied with how nonchalant he was with all these concerns I raised. I even suggested that part of it was likely due to the inactivity during the off months. However he basically stated that the spiders were impossible to get rid of. How is that something that is impossible to get rid of? I’m not asking to rid every spider around the place, but at least wipe the cob webs out of the inside widows fames. He never responded on anything about the mouse droppings.
I cancelled the week in the summer.
We had a great time here hanging out with family, enjoying the beach and drinks out on the deck. The owner was very responsive to any issues we had.

Kootenay lake
Great property, second time we have stayed here. beach could use some upkeep as the old dock is still there from our last stay. And the bbq is on its last leg. Otherwise definitely a great place.
My husband and I own a house about 1 mile from this vacation rental. We rented this place due to the number of family that were gathering after Christmas. My daughter, her husband and 2 children under 2 stayed at this unit. We, however, went back and forth between the houses, so we experienced dinner and games at this house.
The house is located on Kootenay Lake, with stunning views of the lake and the snow-capped mountains. The floors are heated, which was appreciated in the 10 degree F weather. The layout was good and the kitchen fully functional. There was a good sized pantry. There was TV. The master bedroom had large sliding doors overlooking the lake. The only downside was there were no curtains or blinds to darken the room, so it was difficult to have the children take naps.
Our family found that the railroad tracks immediately to the south of the house made for a great cross-country ski. In the summer, the lake would be a great added benefit.
Anyone who books this house should make sure that they stop in Nelson or Creston to fill up on groceries, especially meats, fruits and vegetables. There are a couple of small stores for necessities, but fresh food isn't available. This winter, there is also not an open restaurant within a 1/2 hour drive. That may well be because of Covid and the impact it has had on tourism. So come prepared and enjoy this wonderful home!
Loved our family time right on the water.
Enjoyed the dock, the house, and the lake!

No internet, no TV
Property could use some cleaning inside and out. Very little room for parking. Internet no working, called the property owner, he could not help. Called Telus, they were to send out a technician but needed almost 2 weeks . Cancelled it because we were not going to be there. Owner needs to contact them.
The house was beautiful and cozy with just the right mix of country cabin and higher end amenities. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed walking on the beach and playing games in front of the fire. The house had everything we needed and it was great that we were able to bring our dog with us.
You could spend all day gazing out at the ever changing splendour of the Lake! This is a lovely comfortably home which has everything that you could possibly need and more. Andy and Carol have a home filled with beautiful art, lovely furniture, recipe books unique to the area and the most amazing shower in the second bedroom! We loved our stay!
A great place with lovely view. We very much enjoyed watching the wildlife. A large deck for the view and the dock was a nice touch to be able to sit out on and watch the eagles.
The kitchen & bathrooms were well stocked and the owner was easy to communicate with. Would be a good place for a family.
The house and location are great, especially if you enjoy peace and quiet. Water access and dock made it very easy to launch kayaks, paddle boards etc. The house is well equipped, with plenty of space to hang out on the huge covered deck. The bedrooms are both large, each with their own en-suite. Andy was very quick to respond to any questions we had before our arrival and was very easy to contact. We had a power outage one night and were very happy that the back-up lights throughout the house were working. Would recommend this to anyone who has kids and pets, and is looking for a place to relax.
We had an amazing week, so much to see in the Kootenays!!
The house is spacious didn’t feel crowded at all (2 couples and one teen). The views of the lake are spectacular!!

Very nice accommodation - extremely helpful owner
Our family of 5 stayed for one week with our boat and dog. The house is very clean and well equipped and had everything we needed. Andy was extremely responsive and very organized with the rental. Clear directions and communication was appreciated. If you are planning on a holiday on the Kootney Lake this vacation rental would be a good choice. We have stayed at a few vacation rentals and this was better than expected. Only disappointment was my kids didn't catch the "big one" in the lake!

Beach front beauty
Lots of space for a family of 5, 2 master bedroom suites and absolutely beautiful views. We enjoyed watching the ferries go by. Dock access and driveway access are shared with neighbours, but there was space for parking. a kayak and canoe were available on site and fun to use.
Kootenay lake can be a bit chilly in early July, but we had absolutely beautiful weather.
