Duckbills Cottage has the convenience of town living but with rural nature feel
If you are wanting an experience more than just accommodation Duckbill’s is the place for you. BBQ outdoors and sit around the wood fire pit surrounded by rainforest trees alongside the Obi Obi creek. Or else take a flat, easy walk into town to many enjoy the Maple Street vibe with cafes, boutiques, gift shops, restaurants, wine bar and pubs.
Duckbill’s lies across the creek to the Maleny Showgrounds – close to skateboard ramp and the local swimming hole in the Obi Obi creek.
180-degree views of creek with rainforest trees, on the edge of the Obi Obi Creek which is home to Australia’s highest density of platypus. If you are lucky, you may even see them from the comfort of your bed in the early hours or on overcast days! Ideal for birdwatchers and nature lovers to watch for platypus swim in the Obi Obi creek from the deck and the fruitbat migration at sunset and sunrise.
Enjoy the live music festivities at Maleny Lane on a Friday night, Sunday markets or events at Maleny showground. With the Brouhaha Brewery next door Duckbill’s is perfectly located for the best of both worlds weekend experience.
Long an eyesore and in poor condition, the owners have lovingly restored the cottage with reclaimed and recycled material to live the ethos of treading lightly in our beautiful environment.

Tks so much for wonderful feedback on your stay at Duckbills Cottage in Maleny. so pleased thar you found it centrally located to all restaurants and shops
Very well kept and equipped little cottage close to the brewery and everything else .The big backyard gives it the feeling of being hidden away . The main road is a little busy during the day ; you don’t hear it at all in the evening or at night .

Nice stay, but a bit pricey
The cottage is situated close to the Obi Obi Creek and has beautiful views to a lush tropical garden and the creek. Is is in any case right next to the pretty busy main road. The cottage is nicely decorated, even though refurbishment was somewhat cheaply done and without too much (technical) expertise. So nice to look at but with some flaws here and there, including a slight smell of mold, a dishwasher that does not work well, a small bathroom, a difficult exit to enter the main street by car, etc. Communication with Sally and information provided was very good. And also very kind that she provided us with wine and sparkling, cheese crackers, tea and coffee, very thoughtful. Overall a nice place to stay, a kind host and just a short stroll into town, which is great, but rather pricey for what you get.

Thanks for your honest feedback. As we are just starting out we strive to continually improve on the refurbishments and replace items. Yes the challenge of mould in the rainforests of Maleny is a common one and we have now installed a dehumidifer and will keep finding ways to improve the cottage. Glad you still had a nice stay!
A little hidden gem! So tranquil, cosy and comfortable - loved the fire pit, the nature walks nearby and being so close to town amenities was perfect! We loved our stay at Duckbills :)

Lovely little cottage with beautiful views. Sally was a dream to communicate with. Easy walk into town with brewery even closer. We even had a visit from an echidna whilst being around the campfire. A lovely experience
