Fabulous Getaway

My family of 7 had plenty of room to spread out with extra sleeping space unused. The property owners were very kind and helpful. They thought of pretty much everything to make our stay enjoyable.

The house is great, one bathroom in each level. A few things need work and repair but the overall feeling and convenience is great for a group! Marlena was available and attentive, thanks!

Hiawassee 2020

Beautiful views. Plenty of space for sleeping and hanging out. Lots to do and see in the area. No problems with driveway. It's steep, we did fine. Owner gives lots of helpful information for things around the area to do and see.

Awesome base for a mountain weekend!

The house was gorgeous and spacious, and the view of the lake from the front porch was amazing. Head's up that the road to get up to the house is a little curvy and steep. The house was immaculate and was plenty big enough for 6 adults. I would definitely recommend it!

Beautiful View of the Mountains! Beautiful Home!

Spacious home at the top of the mountain. The views are spectacular! Enjoyed the evenings in the hot tub as the sun set. If you are looking for a beautiful home that is up to date and equipped with everything you need! Pack your bags! You are in for a treat!

Great getaway place!

The house is nice! A group of about 10 of us stayed here for my best friend’s birthday. We went to the Ingles close by to get food and went back to the house for a night of games and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. Will definitely recommend. The only thing that was an issue was my car could barely make it up the mountain to the house. Lol But no worries, we’ll have to drive an suv next time.

Location is great.

The house was nice and spacious. Hot tub worked. There is a gas grill on deck & small charcole grill near fire pit. Was a bit tricky to find coming in after dark. Well stocked. Unfortunately the children who slept downstairs woke up with a terrible rash that is thought to be bed bugs. The trundle bed under the day bed particularly. The owner was made aware but has not responded. The home has potential to be great but seems to be neglected to its full potential. The owner may want to think about using a different house keeper as well. Overall we enjoyed it but sad to pay cleaning when we probably left it cleaner than when arrived.

Not clean at all

My husband and I and two other couples stayed this past weekend. The house has the potential to be a really great place but it is not taken care of at all. There is mold in all the showers, all the doors walls and baseboards are gross. Two of the main things that attracted us to this place was the pool table and hot tub, but unfortunately the hot tub was very dirty, it was green and cloudy and the filter smelled like a fish tank. The pool table is lopsided and broken. The basement smelled like mildew which made it very hard for the couple that had to stay down there to sleep. The grill outside is broken and dirty. I never leave reviews but this place was awful, a very big disappointment and we will never return.

The owner made up for things lacking

I wanted to give 3 stars, but I felt like it was possible that things that went wrong on our trip were one time incidents. The hot tub was not working and had a bad smell. The owner said the people who stayed the weekend before had not mentioned it and that it was drained earlier that month so maybe it was a 1x thing. The house cleaner had not done a spectacular job in living room and did not empty 1 of the trash cans, which the owner was concerned about and planned to make a visit and change cleaners if necessary. The sheets in our bed were clean and warm. The jacuzzi tub did work so that made up for the hot tub. There was a fire ban in the area due to the drought and wildfires going on so we didn't get to check out the backyard and firepit. There was enough room in the house although you could hear most movement on the floor above so if that would bother you just make note. Didn't bother us. Other than the eating space being small, there were no other comments. The owner is very nice and easy to work with. She responds within 24 hours and refunds deposit quickly.

Very disappointed

Spent first day of arrival searching for a different rental. Not a child friendly home (or adult). The faux fireplace that is used as a TV console is extremely unstable.  Just walking across the floor results in it shaking as though it is going to fall apart.  Although the TV is a flat panel, it is an older model and weighs far too much to be on such an unstable piece of furniture and so high off the floor without having any type of wall security mount.  My grandchildren are 6, 4 and 9 months of age. Our family had to constantly remind them to stay away from the faux fireplace for fear of the TV falling on top of them. As I was helping my 6-year granddaughter put her clothes away on the top floor, the poorly constructed dresser fell over.  If the brunt of its weight had not been stopped by the bed, we would have had a very serious injury.  She ended up with a large bump on her head. I then canvassed the home for other safety issues and discovered the following: 1)  Faux fireplace in main living quarters bedroom is also extremely unstable.  Also used as a TV console.  The right door is completely unhinged and fell off; 2) Wrought iron credenzas on top floor and main living floor also very unstable.  My 9-month old grandson bumped the credenza on the main floor with his baby walker, and the greenery pot fell on top of his head; 3) Carpet leading to basement is pulled away from riser because the thresh hold is missing.  Definite tripping hazard.  The ceiling tile on the side wall leading down the stairs is pulled away and exposes duct work and electrical cables. 4) There are no hand rails for the stairs leading to the basement, and the stairs are very steep. 5) Toilets were dirty and stained; 6) Round bar table door on top floor is almost off the hinges, and contains glass items; 7) Washing machine does not work properly; 8) Sink drains were dirty and did not drain properly; 9) Charcoal and gas grills were filthy, and the propane was completely empty. 10) Spiders, webs, and eggs covered the basement door. Large black ants were everywhere. On the last day, in the process of checking under the beds for my grand children’s belongings, I discovered a pack of Marlboro cigarettes (none of us smoke) and a to-go food container under the downstairs bed (not ours).  There was an empty Mountain Dew can under the upstairs bed. Layers of dust everywhere. Obviously, only surface cleaning was done before our arrival. Sent pics and videos to owners.

Disappointed

The cleaning woman did not leave the light on at the property upon arrival. My husband had to leave the car for a short while to see where the house was. My adult daughter and grand daughter were scared. My husband found the house after I contacted Marlena by text and asked her to call my husband. I left for the trip later than him so I was still on the way. Instructions were left on my Vrbo app by Marlena after I left for the trip so I was not looking on the app. I wish the instructions were sent a day earlier. Marlena got back with him and helped him get to the property through texts. When he arrived, he was looking forward to a dip in the hot tub and he told me that it was not heating at all. The water temperature would not go past 78 degrees. There was hot water in the house but it did not last for more than 5-10 min. in any area of the home. When I arrived it was midnight so we decided that we would contact the owner in the morning. I called Marlena the next morning. She suggested some trouble shooting tips that we followed with no success. She claimed that no one has ever reported this problem to her before. I asked her to come back to her home if she did not believe me. She claimed that she was on a trip in the mountains going the other way from the property. I asked her to call a plumber and she said that she would, but she had to pay 200.00 for them to come out on a Saturday. I didn't fell that I should feel guilty for asking for hot water for our family. I told her that this issue was ruining our vacation and I was disappointed with her attitude. My husband and I paid extra for staying in a house with a hot tub. Not only were we inconvenienced, but we didn't feel good about our stay anymore. The hot water issue was very upsetting. We do not understand why we were not reimbursed the 40.00 for the extra seasonal change charge. We paid 60 as you know, but 40 should have been refunded for the other 2 days. Can we be reimbursed 40.00? We are asking that gets done for us. I understand why we have to pay the full charge of the cleaning fee for the full stay ,only because of the Covid-19 extra sanitization that I assume the cleaning lady has to follow. Can we be given some type of compensation for our inconvenience? Anything you can do for us would be appreciated. We do not wish to give a bad review, but I am concerned for the next family that rents this house. I would not want anyone to experience what we did. Thank you.

GA on our mind

The house was perfect for our families. In laws, children and grandchild spent some quality time together. We did the local adventures during the day and hung out at the house in the evenings. Bon fire and hot tub were an excellent way to spend quality time together. There was a great view of the lake from the wrap around porch. Each floor offered bedrooms and bathrooms and there were lounging options as well. Great time was spent enjoying our stay at Dragonfly.

Large Comfortable House

Private, beautiful home with a fantastic view - and I believe the best sunset! Open communication with owners. Close to everything in Hiawassee. Very comfortable furniture/beds with endless hot water! A lot of space (in door and out) for everyone to be together or a quite place to be alone too. Lots of extras supplied (appreciated the make up wipes and blow dryers). Our 3 families enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Home

Honestly, we wish that we had more time to spend at the house. It is beautiful, comfortable, tastefully decorated and with a beautiful view. I don't think that I have ever experienced a better stocked kitchen in a short term rental!! There is lots of room to spread out with rooms spread across three floors.

Great vacation!

Had a great time at this home! Large enough for all to have their own space. Owner has carefully thought about what a family might need or want while there and it shows. It is a beautiful home and great views. We would definitely book this property again and recommended to family and friends going to the area.

Excellent property in a beautiful area

This was our first family Christmas trip with our adult children. The area was amazing and the views were unbeatable. The hot tub and pool table got a lot of use. I wish there had been a Christmas tree when we arrived, but I didn’t ask for it and it definitely wasn’t a hindrance to our stay. We’d like to come back to this area a different time of year to enjoy the lake as well, and if we do, we’ll stay at Dragonfly!

The host for this rental was wonderful!! We all enjoyed being there. Our only issue was my husbands mama struggled with the stairs, none of the rest of us did though.

Beautiful view

Had a wonderful time. Went up to see Helen. This was close enough to go for the day and a beautiful drive through the mountains to get to Helen, yet it was far enough away to relax and enjoy the mountains. Really enjoyed the pool table and jacuzzi.
