While not a luxury hotel or modern new build, this comfortable space offers thoughtful luxury touches, essential amenities, and plenty of character. Relax in the peaceful one-acre backyard with beautiful farmland views, stunning sunsets, and quiet moments beneath the maple trees. Enhance your stay with optional on-site spa and wellness treatments from the attached Spa! This private guest suite is located within a charming vintage home in the village of Shakespeare, offering a comfortable and peaceful place to relax while exploring Stratford and Perth County. While the space is not brand new or ultra-modern, it has been thoughtfully furnished with everything needed for a cozy and enjoyable stay.

The bedroom overlooks beautiful farmland and countryside views, often treated to breathtaking sunsets right from the window. Plush bedding, soft towels, robes, slippers, and thoughtful extras help create a welcoming atmosphere. A futon sofa in the bedroom can be used for separate sleeping arrangements, lounging with a book, watching television, or enjoying a quiet evening indoors.

The fully equipped kitchen includes the essentials for preparing meals, along with coffee, teas, and basic pantry items to help you settle in comfortably. A large dining table provides space for meals, games, or planning your next adventure.

Outside, guests are welcome to enjoy the spacious one-acre backyard, where farmland views, a hammock between the mature maple trees, and the occasional bunny create a peaceful country setting. On cooler evenings, the gas fireplace in your bedroom while gazing outside offers a cozy place to unwind.

The property is also home to Orchard Wellness & Treatment Center, a boutique spa and wellness space located within the same building. Guests are welcome to inquire about treatments and special guest rates during their stay.

Host Sherry resides in a separate private living space within the building, allowing guests to enjoy their own private suite while having assistance nearby if needed.

Located just 12 minutes from Stratford, 20 minutes to Kitchener-Waterloo, local walking trails, ponds, and seasonal outdoor activities, this comfortable countryside retreat offers a relaxing home base for your visit.

Gather used towels
Remove personal items and remove leftover food and drinks
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Close open windows. Turn off kitchen fireplace, and lights. If you want to take your own trash out it must be bagged and tied- goes in black lid bin, recycling & garbage bins behind fence near gate.
Put all used towels, tea towels and robes/slippers in wicker basket in bedroom.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Patio noise to a minimum/regular during spa hours (no loud music/shouting). Noise is fine in the backyard and on Fri-Sun late afternoon/evenings.
No cooking strong-smelling/odor foods like fish or curries (ex.) Odors can affect the spa environment and the next guests.
Respect between neighbours yard boundaries - no fences- horseshoe pits are ours as farthest boundary in width of property to other side is our hammock

This property is very beautiful, private and well appointed. Sherry has thought of every detail and has quality products for a comfortable getaway. She also responds to every message right away so any questions you may have are taken care of. I highly recommend this place when you are looking in this area. There is also a large, beautiful and private yard to enjoy and to take in the sunsets. 5 stars all the way.

Great little getaway

This is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting Stratford or the area. It is a great little oasis and the owner thought of everything that you would possibly need. Would definitely stay here again and recommend.

Relaxing Getaway

This is a wonderful property for a weekend getaway for 2 people. Very clean, quite and nicely furnished and decorated. The little extras made it personal and very welcoming. Communication with the host was clear and responses were prompt. The area is beautiful and there are some nice shops within walking distance. We will recommend this place to all our friends and family.

Peaceful and quiet. I was working in the area and this was the perfect place to wind down. Modern high quality appliances, Very comfortable and private. Seriously loved this place. Village Retreat- a breath of fresh air

Located in the town of Shakespeare, and only a ten minute drive from Stratford, the Village Retreat is within walking distance of several antique stores, an ice cream shop, a quilt store and a tea room. Shop, browse or read a book on the covered patio , . play in Stratford that evening. Sherry, the Village Retreat’s owner, has turned this gem into a wonderful place to relax. The place is clean, the bed is comfortable, the shower is warm, and the patio is cool on an early autumn evening. And that’s not to mention the full range of appliances, dinnerware and cooking utensils in the kitchen. We found owner Sherry to be attentive to her property as well as our needs……, even though we never met her in person! She was rarely more than fifty feet away, attending to her own business which is housed at the front of the property. We never saw her, but from the time of our arrival to our departure, she was never more than a text message or email away. We had a great two nights at the Village Retreat. In the past seven years, we’ve been to Stratford four times and have stayed in a different place on each occasion. But my wife and I are in agreement that this pattern has come to an end. The Village Retreat is where we will be returning again.. and again. Bill Z

Why they chose this property

I originally moved to this area as a single mom with my two young children and built both our home and my wellness business here. Over the years, this little corner of Perth County has become a place filled with wonderful memories, friendly neighbours, and a true sense of community.

I love that we’re surrounded by peaceful countryside while still being just a short drive from Stratford and other nearby towns. The mature trees, open farmland views, and beautiful sunsets are what made me fall in love with this property—and now that my children are grown, I’m excited to share a small piece of it with guests.
